About Arthur Beatrice

Named after Golden Girls star Bea Arthur, Arthur Beatrice was formed by school friends Orlando Leopard (vocals, guitar), Ella Girardot (vocals, keyboards), and brothers Hamish (bass) and Elliott Barnes (drums) in London in 2010. The bandmembers created a unique path for themselves by running their own label, Open Assembly, and taking control of their own promotions and concert bookings. They attracted a fair amount of attention by word of mouth and their social media channels. The group's debut single, "Midland," drew comparisons to the xx, Warpaint, and the Sundays, and the band was featured in The Guardian newspaper's Bands to Watch column. Their debut album, Working Out, was released in February 2014. The quartet followed up with their second studio release, Keeping the Peace, in 2016, which featured the London Contemporary Orchestra on a number of tracks. ~ James Pearce
