Surrey-based quintet Freeze the Atlantic formed in 2008, rising from the ashes of British alt-rock heavyweights Reuben and Hundred Reasons following the breakup of those previous bands. While cementing their lineup, Freeze the Atlantic managed a tour in 2010 with Welsh outfit Attack! Attack! and crafted their gritty alt-rock sound. The year 2011 was productive for Freeze the Atlantic, as they recorded their debut EP, Colour by Numbers, after signing to independent label Alcopop! During 2012 they worked on their full-length debut, Speakeasy, in true D.I.Y. fashion, recording anywhere and everywhere they could before eventually releasing the album later that year. ~ Scott Kerr
