Positively Testcard

Trumpet player Dave Woodhead was one of England's top session musicians, and a member of Billy Bragg's band, when he discovered the kwela (pennywhistle) tradition of South Africa. Recruiting guitarist Adam Keelan, bassist Chris Morgan, and drummer Mario Guanieri, Woodhead formed kwela band, Positively Testcard. Blending original pieces by Woodhead and covers of tunes by Duke Ellington, Booker T. Jones, Lemmy Mabaso, and Spokes Mashiyane, Positively Testcard created a dance-inspiring sound that inspired www.interchem.chem.strath.ac.uk to describe the band as a "whistle-driven afroskankabilly instrumental beat combo" and its members as "pennywhistling rock gods."
