This novel captures many fascinating aspects of life in the mines and mining communities of the 1960s. The challenges faced by both workers and managers in the mining industry and the successes and setbacks which they faced are grippingly explored alongside intimate portrayals of the private lives of the key characters within the book. An excellent read ! I thoroughly enjoyed it !
