London, 1960.

Living in the New Forest with their cold-hearted grandmother, twins Maisy and Duncan are neglected and unloved.

So when Duncan fails to come home after exploring the woods, no one - least of all his grandmother - appears to care.

Yet Maisy refuses to give up.

Though she doesn't know the woods well, she knows someone who does. The strange old woman who lives at their heart . . .

Dare Maisy enlist the help of the woman in the wood?

And what will she find if she does?

Woman in the woods

Brilliant as ever just enjoy reading her books. I have told all my friends to Reed her books.

An ok read but not her best

I normally love Lesley Pearse books and have read all of them but this one, however, felt clunky. A lot of the dialogue didn’t flow for me and seemed unnatural. Not her best by a long shot and the only reason I have it 3 stars was out of loyalty.

Loved it

First time I've ever read a book by Lesley Pearce and I've been addicted to it. Even trying to read it while ironing a shirt for my
Partner. The story is gripping and so well written that you can easily picture yourself as the characters. I think this could be the start of a beautiful relationship between me and the whole back catalogue of books
