‘Where have you been all our lives, Mindy?’ Glamour
Mindy Kaling has lived many lives: comedienne, actress, obedient child of immigrant professionals and, now, writer. With a blend of witty confessions and unscientific observations, Mindy writes about everything from being a timid young chubster afraid of her own bike to living the Hollywood life, dating, friendships and planning her own funeral – all executed with several conveniently placed stopping points for you to run errands and make phone calls.
‘Hilarious’ Elle
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
In this audio edition of her memoir, Kaling charts the course of her varied life, while offering often hilarious, sometimes poignant tips and words of wisdom mined from her childhood and adult life. Through a series of essays, lists, and anecdotes, Kaling recalls her childhood in Cambridge, Mass. complete with girl clique dates to the Cheesecake Factory moving to New York City, her eventual relocation to Los Angeles, and her current job writing for and acting on NBC's The Office. Kaling's narration is conversational, entertaining, bubbly, and spirited and reminiscent of Kelly Kapoor, her character on The Office and the result is a short but very enjoyable listen. Kaling's fresh humor, one-liners, and analogies (e.g., "We clung to each other with blind loyalty like Lord Voldemort and his snake Nagini. I of course was Nagini") make this audio worth listening to a second time and sharing with friends. A Crown Archetype hardcover.

Amazing!
Worth a read, Mindy is a wonderful writer!
Is everyone hanging out without me?
Mindy is a fantastic writer, she is funny, smart and to the point...(which I love!)
She is unafraid of being idealistic in a world that is increasingly expecting young people to grow up too quickly and take on the pessimistic views of other people's bitter experiences. She generously shares her own personal outlook on life with us, pointing out the idiosyncrasies of her day to day life in show business and she has cooed with it. Mindy is an example of a hard worker with a lot of talent making her a 'quadruple threat' in the very challenging setting of show business and equally in my humble opinion..a good role model. I would recommend this book to my younger cousins to read, who will definitely appreciate it for its humour, but also for the unapologetic frankness of what it's really like not to be the 'cool kid' and grow up too quickly...look forward to reading another book by her soon :)
