THE ISLES OF SCILLY MYSTERIES # 2

‘Gripping, clever and impossible to put down' ERIN KELLY

THE ISLAND OF TRESCO HOLDS A DARK SECRET SOMEONE WILL KILL TO PROTECT.

Ben Kitto has become the Scilly Isles’ Deputy Chief of Police. As the island’s lazy summer takes hold, he finds himself missing the excitement of the murder squad in London. But when the body of professional diver Jude Trellon is discovered, anchored to the rocks of a nearby cave, his investigative skills are once again needed.

At first it appears that the young woman’s death was a tragic accident, but when evidence is found that suggests otherwise, the islanders close ranks. With even those closest to the victim refusing to talk, it seems that plenty of people might have had reason to harm her. As the islanders remain guarded, Ben Kitto suspects a killer is on the loose in Tresco.

Everyone is a suspect.
Nobody is safe.

Average

Inconsistent writing, sometimes amazing but most times average. Didn’t really understand the plot twist. Could’ve been better.

Good story, poor editing

Firstly, a very good story, good characters, clever plot with plenty of twists and keeps you guessing right till the end. But what lets this story down is the many grammatical mistakes, continuity mistakes and other inaccuracies. For example the author can’t seem to decide if Ivan and Jude are married or not, first off they are boyfriend/girlfriend then he calls her his wife then in the same chapter he talks about wanting to marry her? There are many grammatical mistakes where his/hers he/she’s are mixed up. There are mistakes in the timeline, it sometimes jumps forward or back by several hours, All a bit of a shame, but what really annoyed me about the story is the fact that this story is based on a island, and the author can’t seem to grasp the ideas of tides. In one chapter a team set out to search for a missing person, they start in late afternoon and the tide is out, but by the time they get to Pipers Hole the tide is in an hour later? The previous day High tide was written as being at midday, now it’s early evening? There are sadly many more, descriptions of boats talking about people ‘sitting in the prow’, it’s called the bow! Such a shame because apart from this the story is great.
