Harry photographs gravesites on the Western Front, hired by grieving families. Plagued by memories of his last conversation with Francis, he has never stopped searching for his brother.

After years apart, their search brings them together. As they uncover the truth they are haunted by the past and their own complex feelings – towards Francis, and towards each other.

Sammybabbbyyyy!!! ,

Excellent book.

Very haunting. I’m old enough to have been told stories of WW1 and 2 by my grandad granma and my mum. They lost people. One of my aunts is 95 and never married because she waits for her fiancé to get back to Scotland to this day.
I find it sad that people are now so influenced by racism fascism and nationalism and patriotism that England is more like inter war nazi Germany now. Sadly people alive now don’t know people who fought in the war and have no idea how vile and evil the fascist regimes were.
First time in over 50 years that we have a scary situation after the young ie 25-45 year olds voted leave. Guaranteed we will be invaded by someone as alone we fall together nations stand. Very worrying sad times. This book is beautiful but people do not want to admit that because only a none racist could see the truth in this novel.
Be careful what you millennials wish for.

Not as good as lead to believe.

I found this story and the characters hard to connect with, the idea of the story is a great idea it is a shame it wasn’t written better. I had been looking forward to reading it from the online reverse but it was not as good as I had been lead to believe. I won’t be reading it again anytime soon.
