Plot Summary
Inspired by the true story of ‘James Bond’ author Sir Ian Fleming’s creation of one of most important elite units in the history of the British Armed Forces, this spectacular World War II action-thriller will keep you on the edge of your seat. An inspiration to the modern day SAS, 30 Commando was a new breed of special operations taskforce created to carry out some of the most dangerous missions in the Second World War. Starring SEAN BEAN (Lord Of The Rings, Black Death) and DANNY DYER (The Business, The Football Factory), together again for the first time since Nick Love’s The Outlaw, AGE OF HEROES follows the unique circumstances behind 30 Commando’s inception and the unit’s first highly classified smash-and-grab mission into occupied Norway, to capture vital radar technology that will change the course of the war. But when their escape route is uncovered, the commandos find themselves in a pitched battle to reach the border against vicious Nazi General Dietl (Christian Rubeck) and his deadly 5th Alpine Division.

Probably the worst war film I've ever seen, and i've seen a few
I ignored the reviews and rented it anyway - should have trusted the reviews . I pride myself on being able to enjoy even really bad films as i appreciate the story most Directors are trying to tell - but this was just plain bad. Storyline lurched from one aspect of the story to the next. Actors made an effort but clearly the script and storyline was beyond their control. Strong suspicion that they just ran out of money; it ends that abruptly. Not wanting to do be a spoiler, but presumably Sean Bean is still sitting behind that shed with all those SS bearing down on him, as we're just not told what happens to him beyond that, not even any implication of his demise. Terrible effort from the Producers on this. Just terrible.
B rated war movie
I'm a huge fan of war movies and this looks and sounds more like a B rated one. I can't tell if Sean Bean has lowered himself to start in this or Danny Dyer has tried and failed to move up to Sean's standard of acting. The special effects if you can call them that are very poor. Some of the acting could be better. The only thing that keeps you watching is what will Sean do next.
I was disappointed in the ending of the film, they could of made that 10 times better. But if you like the start of this movie then you'll enjoy it, though if you don't then that is what you'll get through nearly all the movie. iTunes should half the cost of this.
Low budget movie
I am a great fan of war films and Sean Bean but this film fails to deliver on all levels.
Its a shame as it was nearly a good movie. Poorly directed with scenes that are do not make sense. Some good acting slightly holds it together.
Its a film for sunday afternoon when nothing else is on !
