It's OK but not as good as Ip Man 1
As a practicing martial artist in both Kung Fu and Karate, I absolutely adored Ip Man. I felt that Ip Man 2 has a much less realistic approach to the fighting and the characters. They went a bit too far 'all out' on the vilification of the British. Whilst I can believe that a boxer would behave like that, no British gentleman ever would be quite that brazenly uneducated. From a martial arts standpoint, it makes no sense that a boxer, no matter how strong, would stand up to an Asian martial artist simply because boxing involves specific rules on authorized movements aimed for sport, whereas Kung Fu is more of a holistic martial art aimed at self defense. MMA fighter, maybe. Boxer, not a chance. So don't bother watching this if you are interested in good martial arts, you'll get frustrated.
IP Man 2
Excellent follow up to IP Man 1. Good storyline. Donnie Yen is a great martial arts star. Almost felt I was watching a Rock movie however. Also to note HMV are selling this for a £1 less.
Didn't like it
The plot is a rip off of so many other films, the acting is like Chinese martial arts movies from 20 years ago and the cinematography in the fighting is basic and cheap looking. If you have to see it rent it don't buy.
