Plot Summary

"Suzanne (Kristin Scott Thomas) and her husband Samuel (Yvan Attal) enjoy a pleasant, middle-class life with their two children. When she decides to go back to work as a physiotherapist, Suzanne is brought into contact with a builder called Ivan (Sergi Lopez), a gruff and burly odd-job man who has recently been released from prison. Their mutual attraction is sudden and violent, sending them on a whirlwind affair of the senses. As Suzannes life spirals out of control, she must decide between her family and living this all-engulfing passion to the full. A stunning portrait of the destructive consequences that love can have, Leaving is at once a blissful account of amour fou and a searing insight into the romantic soul, at the centre of which is a scintillating performance from Kristin Scott Thomas."

Leaving

What an amazing film. I thought I might be put off by the subtitles as it's a french movie but not so. Scary to think that an affair could lead to such an emotional roller coaster ride and eventually become so destructive.

Leaving

I love Kristin Scott Thomas so thought this would be another wonderful film. While she acted her socks off, the actual premise was very unbelievable and didn't really make sense. It all seemed to happen too fast and out of nowhere. Perhaps the character development in the beginning wasn't good enough, but what happened later in the film simply wasn't justified. I was very disappointed with this.

Incredible

Watched this film last night and it is totally stunning. An outstanding performance by CST. This type of movie, a brutal study of human emotion and people at their bravest, at the same time as their most vulnerable is exactly suited to this underrated actress.
A 'must be viewed' in my opinion!
