Plot Summary

In January 2009, Oliver Stone travelled to Venezuela to interview President Hugo Chavez, and examine the way Chavez has been portrayed in the U.S. media. Was Chavez really the "anti-American" force the media claimed he was? Once the journey began, however, Stone and his crew found themselves going beyond Venezuela to several other countries, and interviewing seven Presidents in the region, telling a larger and even more compelling story. In a series of casual conversations, Stone sits down with Presidents Chavez, Evo Morales (Bolivia), Lula da Silva (Brazil), Cristina Kirchner (Argentina), as well as her husband and ex-President Néstor Kirchner, Fernando Lugo (Paraguay), Rafael Correa (Ecuador), and Raúl Castro (Cuba). "The best way to convey it further was to take the film on the road and talk to Chavez’s allies in the region," the director says. "Every single one of them was extremely positive about Chavez."

Hope

Very good. Was dubious at first, after Stones JFK nonsense, but this really gives me hope for the first time about World politics.
So interesting to see these people work, talk to eachother and look forward to a common goal. Its how life could be if we got rid of our
fake democracies. A dream, a good one.

Worth consideration

I was very skeptical on viewing another Oliver Stone political movie. At 99p rental I though that I would live it a try. It was not a well balanced account, but it did touch on some valid points about US economic empirialsm which were valid... role of IMF etc. Actually quite an optimistic movie. I like da Silva's point to Chavez that he leaves his country in a mess if he does not leave his country with a new generation of leaders. Biased, but if you are open minded there are some thought provoking interviews here and a decent sketch of US intervention that you may not be aware of.

Truth

I enjoyed this, I'm not a political person, just a people person and this was produced wonderfully to show you the side of peoples views, rather then just the voice of those that go around destroying acting like the good and making others out to be bad. God bless the ones that bring the lives of others to our sight so that we are aware and help make a difference to the ones that have a hard time, for the greed of the many that dwell on earth. Some will use any excuse to make war to benefit themselves at the loss of the poor as always and these documentaries are a reality check.
