Plot Summary
The Round Up throws a powerful light on one of the most disturbing episodes in recent French history - the few weeks in July 1942 when the French police, at the direction of the Nazis, rounded up more than 13,000 Parisian Jews, including more than 4,000 children, and took them to the now notorious Velodrome d'Hiver stadium. A powerful and extremely gripping story ignored until relatively recently, The Round Up is brilliantly directed by Rose Bosch and features a stunning cast including Jean Reno (The Da Vinci Code) and Melanie Laurent (Inglourious Basterds).
Customer Reviews
Heart rending.
Its been a while since I saw Schindler's List, and if anything this is more subtle, yet more powerful in its portrayal of the sheer inhumanity of The Holocaust. Deeply moving and highly recommended.
O
Ghastly agony to see families torn apart. However heroism (a dying concept in the modern world) holds sway. tender Reno &
the most extraordinary Laurent make this a have and hold always film. Wartime / Germans /anti-semitism/children/ innocence
stamped upon......a moving work this and a compelling film. How come I only found this here and not in my local cinema ?
Blistering.
A must see
A beautifully crafted and acted film.
More importantly it reminds us of the brutality that man is capable of inflicting on the innocent. And it is always the innocent. This is essential viewing for all.
