What better way to round off the decade than with our second batch of '00s party hits, compiled under the decade spanning notion that we may as well go out with a bang/hit the ground running. Produced by David Guetta (who also delivers "Sexy Chick" with Akon), "I Gotta Feeling" by Black Eyed Peas sets us off in the best possible direction — oh yes, tonight's gonna be a good, good night — while Dizzee Rascal throws sanity out of the window, and gets his kicks for free, with Armand Van Helden on "Bonkers," Franz Ferdinand delivers a blast from 2004 with the split-tempo barnstormer, "Take Me Out", and Lady Gaga holds all the aces with "Poker Face".

No one steams up a party like Britney, and with 2008's "Womanizer" she pulled out all the stops, blazing a return to form with the lead single from her sixth studio album Circus. Take That also had metaphorical fun with the big top, spotlighting Mark Owen as lead vocalist on "Up All Night" from The Circus, while Las Ketchup tapped into a carnivalesque degree of fun with one of the decade's catchiest tracks "The Ketchup Song (Aserejé)". Kid Rock mellowed out on the rock nostalgia of "All Summer Long", mashing up Warren Zevon and Lynyrd Skynyrd in the process, and Utah Saints got us all doing the running man to their fulsome Kate Bush overhaul, "Something Good '08".

Feels a little weird, right? On the one hand, the '00s was this bold new decade of fresh starts and heart-warming hope, packed full of stuff that was really worth celebrating; on the other, we got slapped with a massive economic crash, and recoiled from all manner of unrest and uncertainty . . . which only made us want to party harder. The evidence can be found right here, with this second selection of tracks that helped turn the first ten years of the 21st Century into a non-stop party zone, where we could let it all hang out because, let's face it, if the world was going to crash and burn, we might as well go down smiling and dancing. This was the decade of brassy Sugababes ("Girls"), bold Girls Aloud ("Love Machine") and fearless Foo Fighters ("The Pretender") — and the fun starts right now.
