Best recognised by "Woke Up This Morning" (used over the opening credits of The Sopranos), Brixton's Alabama 3 exists in a lawless state somewhere west of shambolic, east of absurd, north of dangerous, and south of hilarious. By stirring a welter of blues, country, gospel, and rock influences into their acid-spiked electronic pot, the outfit has produced a steady stream of knockout material since its debut in 1997 with Exile on Coldharbour Lane (dubbed "chemical country", for want of a better tag). Founding members Rob Spragg and Jake Black like to masquerade behind the outlandish monikers Larry Love and the Very Reverend Dr. D. Wayne Love, but there's no disguising the sheer, joyous madness of their cunningly fused output.

Where have I been all their life???
Recently got into this astonishing group, a few gigs later and some very loud speaker busting moments and I find I cant get enough! They are truly original, eclectic, witty and non conformist in how the lyrics and albums seem to meld into a constant stream, each supporting the other with subtle links to the previous and what is and was current at the time of writing...... For me personally, an absolute smash throughout. Can't wait for their next gig, lets see them on Jool's for new year!
