Calvin Harris

After leaping in a single bound from MySpace to contracts with Sony BMG and EMI, Calvin Harris perfectly fits the profile of the switched-on 21st-century recording artist — someone born in the ether but destined for that great, glittering dance floor in the stratosphere . . . and the pub at the corner of your street. After testing the waters with a couple of club singles in 2002, Harris (from Dumfries, Scotland) made his breakthrough with 2007 debut album, the cheekily titled I Created Disco, featuring "Acceptable In the 80's" (think Les Rythmes Digitales sent into overdrive) and "Vegas" (iTunes Live version included here). Production work with Kylie Minogue would precede his second album, 2009's "Ready for the Weekend", featuring a title track so insanely catchy it should be stored under strict laboratory conditions. That and his Dizzee Rascal hook-ups too . . . what more could a fun-hungry pub-clubber desire?
