Are you deaf?

Ten years ago we had leftfield, the chems, prodigy, primal scream, sasha and diggers all making dance music. Here are 74 reasons why dance music is dead. Utter rubbish.

Fueling The Machine?

I dont quite know what it is, I just cant put my finger on it. But, as a 38 year old dj who has played, danced and worshiped Great Music since I was barely legally allowed to go out to pubs, clubs and house parties. What has happened to Dance? I am finding it increasingly painfull listening to modern dance?? And, actually having to play this garbage is for better words - Degrading! Am I just fueling the machine? Out of love, im doing a party for a mate tomorrow and the host is 22. What the f... should I play - Im thinking??
This train of thought brought me to 'Dance Today' - 'ITunes Essentials'.
I got to about track 45 before my ears started to weep, and Im thinking to myself - Is it an age thing? The thing is, I bang out dance floors where I play and I like to mix it up a little. Im an old skool and house dj at heart and people absolutely love these great tunes which took time, energy and Passion to create and bring to us. They werent just mashed up on a computer in someone's bedroom. That still takes some doing though.
The bottom line is - If you are a lazy b...... and want so called 'today's dance music', then pay up and download all the trash. If you actually respect yourself and what you play and want to listen to - you have to sift through all the trash and find what you think is worth paying for? This is what people who enjoy music do!
You have to put in the time to get the result. I dont know ITunes selection process of music. Did they go to the top ten clubs and do a survey of what music people loved? If they did, then my career is soon coming to an end, along with dance!

Pretty dire selection of tunes

Contrary to other reviewers I don't believe that dance music is dead, rather that itunes had made a complete mess of this compilation. Where are the likes of Max Vangeli, Afrojack, Laidback luke , Oxia, Tensnake and the like?! Instead we have a rag bag selection of rehashed pop tripe. Sort it out Itunes, this is an embarassment. It's no better than the crap the Dj's peddle in the less than salubrious chain bars which grace the town centres of every UK town.
