Jeff Buckley introduced himself to the world with an album — 1993's Live at Sin-é — recorded at the venue where he had gathered a cult following, but it was with his full-length studio debut, Grace, that the arrival of a rare and stunning talent was confirmed beyond a shadow of a doubt. During the first years of the '90s, before he went solo, Jeff Buckley struck up a songwriting partnership with Gary Lucas in New York, which resulted in beguiling tracks, like "Satisfied Mind" and "She Is Free". Buckley performed with Lucas' band, Gods and Monsters, but quit the outfit only a day after its official 1992 debut and became a cult live act at Sin-é in the East Village.

With influences as diverse as Led Zeppelin, Pakistani sufi musician Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, and classical composer Benjamin Britten (check out "Corpus Christi Carol"), and a voice that truly does justice to tags like ethereal and angelic, Jeff Buckley produced — during his tragically short career — a body of work that drew awestruck admiration from virtually every important name in rock: Dylan, Bowie, Bono, you name them . . . everyone loves Buckley. This collection pays homage to the man who enchanted and mesmerised the world before his death by drowning in the Mississippi River in 1997 at age 30.
