- 1. "Stop! in the Name of Love" by The Supremes: "This is the best, most heartbreaking song that I've ever heard. It sounds so nice so you don't realise how sad it is until you really listen to the words and realise she's asking him to stop running to the arms of another woman because she loves him so much."
- 2. "The Hypnotist’s Son" by Emmy the Great: "This song is really delicate and soft and defensive and describes the fragility of being in love, the fears that come with being in love and getting your heart broken. It makes you feel nervous just listening to it. There are lots of clever lyrics that stop my breath short in this song."
- 3. "Television" by Peggy Sue & The Pirates: "I've been a huge fan of the band since we played some of our first gigs together almost two years ago. Incredible voices, that compliment each other so well. I love this recording, the drums are so cool and they are even cooler. I'm so excited for the album but this is a nice taste of what is to come."
- 4. "Deceptacon" by Le Tigre: "I got into Le Tigre a few years ago at college. I think it's fun and strong and I just think they're a bit cool really. I was always jealous that I was never in that band. They make me want to wear a swimsuit and goggles and my swimming cap to clubs."
- 6. "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" by Cyndi Lauper: "Well they do."
- 7. "When She Kisses Me" by Jonathan Richman: "I discovered Jonathon Richman when I was in the studio because Anna who worked there kept getting sneaky deliveries of his vinyls she bought off Ebay. I had to come in to finish off some piano for a track and I was hungover and seeing a bit of a prick at the time who pissed me off the night before and I was running about three hours late and had had a massive argument with a friend and wasn't sure if it was fixable. We played this song six times in a row and I got through my day with an almost skip in my step."
- 8. "T**t" by John Cooper Clarke: "I lived with some poets in a flat in edinburgh once and they told me about Johnny Clarke. I love Johnny Clarke."
- 9. "If I Only Had a Brain" by Judy Garland & Ray Bolger: "I like learning the words to The Wizard of Oz. Downloading the soundtrack helps."
- 10. "Guilty" by Yann Tiersen: "Find an empty hall with a disco ball. Play this loud, and dance with yourself. Pretend you have a lover who has gone off to war. Maybe cry a bit."
