    • 1. "White Belts" by Make Up: "This is my favourite song from my favourite album of theirs. They broke up a long time ago. I really don't think they achieved the recognition they deserved when they were together. This song just makes the party start jumping whenever it's played!"
    • 2. "I Think I Need a New Heart" by The Magnetic Fields: "It was hard to choose a favourite track, but this is one of them. When I bought 69 Love Songs it blew me away. Stephin Merritt's lyrics are hilarious and SO bitter at the same time. He's been a huge influence on me, and this track is one of many that I constantly go back to."
    • 3. "Don't Speak" by John Dahlbäck: "One of my favourite producers. Everything he does is class. The thing I love about this track is its simplicity, but I also love its emotional, uplifting quality. Beautiful."
    • 4. "Who Knew" by Eminem: "Eminem is the Dylan of my generation. No one can touch him as a rapper, either as a lyricist or an MC. At his peak he stirred things up so much and influenced so many young people, the same way Dylan did in the '60s. So many tracks to choose from, but I chose this one because The Marshall Mathers LP was the one I bought first and I was totally blown away. 'Who Knew?' is a middle finger to the hypocrisy of the media, as most of the tracks on this record are. Anyone who doubts him will just look foolish in a couple of decades' time. He is a genius."
    • 5. "Milkshake" by Holy Fuck: "An amazing band! This is my favourite track of theirs right now, but that changes every day. I love the 'vibes' sound that comes in halfway through – so uplifting and energetic. I haven't seen them live, but I've heard they're sensational. I've got Mr. Tim Holmes to thank for getting me into their stuff. Thank you, sir!"
    • 6. "My Back Pages" by The Byrds: "A superb track. It's actually my favourite of theirs. Their sound is just a blissed-out summer, and their harmonies are amazing. Also has one of the best guitar solos of all time!"
    • 7. "Eyen (feat. Benet Walsh)" by Plaid: "I remember seeing Plaid play 93 Feet East when this record had just come out (1999 or 2000, I think. The album's called Double Figure). It was one of the first times I'd seen electronic music being done live. They just had two laptops (which crashed halfway through, I remember; ha!) and sequencers and stuff. I was pretty ill at the time, but I remember this track making me think about the direction of my own music a lot. They created a melancholic, uplifting sound that I'd never really experienced before. I went away from that concert with real inspiration in my heart."
    • 8. "Courses for Horses (Original)" by Steve Lawler: "He's one of my favourite DJs; every time I see him he delivers the goods. I love the way this track builds and builds. When it kicks in, I dare you not to move your body in some way!"
    • 9. "Callisto" by Marc Romboy & Stephan Bodzin: "These guys do a lot together, and this track is one of their best. It's a classic minimal track, but with a real euphoria to it. It shows how simplicity in dance music can still produce a feeling of overwhelming emotion."
    • 10. "Death Threat" by Death In Vegas: "I saw DIV live back in 2000, when The Contino Sessions came out. This is my favourite track from that album. It's so menacing! They were a huge influence on my music and on the path I chose to go on from 2000 onwards. A fantastic band. Mind-blowing stuff."
    • 11. "Rotodrom" by Oliver Huntemann: "A legendary producer. I had the honour of working with him on my track 'Let Go of the Fear'. He's so talented. He uses that whole minimal techno, 'glitchy' sound, often referred to as 'the Bremin sound'. This track is just sensational, and it really showcases that style of techno. His music's so dark, but he's really such a nice guy!"
    • 13. "I Want You Back" by Jackson 5: "One of my favourite songs of all time. I got into Michael Jackson at a very early age. I remember listening to Bad on cassette on my Walkman and dreaming of being him. An absolute legend who had an influence that words can't describe. Everything about this song is perfect: the ultimate track to get people rejoicing on the dance floor. RIP, Michael Jackson."
    • 14. "Sparkles" by Tiësto: "This is a really early track of his. I love his stuff! He's the biggest DJ in the world, without doubt. His tracks are SO euphoric. This one gives me goose pimples every time."
    • 15. "Hallo Zeit" by Super Flu: "I love these guys. Another German minimal sound, but also extremely euphoric. It builds so well without you even noticing it. I always play this one out when I DJ, just because I wanna hear it played loud!"
    • 16. "Dishes" by Pulp: "Actually my favourite Pulp song, from This Is Hardcore, my favourite album of theirs. Some of the lyrics are humorous, but it's ultimately a song that's completely resigned to a depressive, monotonous way of life. Another awesome guitar solo, as well."
    • 17. "Tracy" by Mogwai: "Again, SO many tracks to choose from. Mogwai are a brilliant band. I've ripped off their tremolo guitar sound, which they pretty much invented, on a lot of my songs. Don't tell them, though. 'Tracy' is an extremely melancholic track, perfect for late-night listening."
