The benign leviathan of summer festivals hoves into view for 2011 boasting a line-up as stellar and satisfying as any in recent memory — and sitting regally atop our headliners' selection is Beyoncé, matching husband Jay-Z's 2008 Pilton appearance, with "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)", alongside Coldplay, guiding us home with "Fix You", and self-proclaimed "world's greatest rock band" U2, soaring on the wings on "Beautiful Day". Lurking nearby, with intent to amaze, are Paul Simon (and his incredible 1986 track "Graceland"), Morrissey (with his L.A. crime saga, "First of the Gang to Die"), and Fleet Foxes ("He Doesn't Know Why").

There's nothing quite like sitting in an English field at the beginning of summer, rain or shine, especially if that field belongs to Glasto impresario Michael Eavis . . . and he's filled it with artists like these — the Streets follow final album Computers and Blues with a 2011 appearance, here returning to the source with "Don't Mug Yourself" from 2002's Original Pirate Material; Warpaint jets in from Los Angeles to showcase 2010's debut full-length album The Fool (featuring "Undertow"); and Wild Beasts weigh in from the Lake District, fresh of the back of 2011's outstanding Smother ("Lion's Share").

Dance, hip-hop, dubstep, electronica and turntablism form the flexible backbone of our Glastonbury 2011 Deep Cuts, as Katy B pumps up the pace with "Katy on a Mission", the electrifying lead single from her 2010 debut album, Big Boi continues his OutKast hiatus alongside Cutty on "Shutterbug", and DJ Shadow forms a sonic mountain from found beats with his epic track "Building Steam from a Grain of Salt" on the world's first completely sampled album, Endtroducing (1996). Sharing the limelight with Shadow on the John Peel Stage, armed with a fistful of Scots-rock stardust, is Glasvegas, reprising standout 2007 single "Daddy's Gone".
