Slipknot, the band you identify by its gruesome Hallowe'en masks and its designated numbers (frontman Corey Taylor is, for example, #8), occupies a unique niche somewhere between nihilistic nü-metal and aggressive death metal. Evidently the gates of hell must be located in Des Moines, Iowa, because in these chaps the city has spawned one of the most visually arresting, entertaining, and misanthropic outfits to inhabit the kingdom of rock. All good, unclean fun, of course. Here we've assembled some of the most frazzling moments from the band's four official studio albums to date, including killer early single "Spit It Out" and the title track from 2008's All Hope Is Gone.

great
slipknot is truely amazing
SLIPKNOT ARE THE BEST
From their first album to all hope is gone slipknot have always kept me interested by coming up with new sounds, rythems and beats and keeping it new and unique and not let their sound catch dust. unfortunatley their are people out their who hate them and have never listened to one of their songs. As corey talor (vocals) once "said there are people out there who will never get us so **** them they wont control my life and bring me down"
Disgrace
HOW can you have an "essential" Slipknot album without Surfacing and [sic]?
