The lineup may have undergone multiple changes (save for key member Keisha Buchanan), but the fact remains — Sugababes is the greatest girl-trio in Britain. Six albums down the line, it's time to celebrate the group's greatest moments, from debut single "Overload", through the Gary Numan-sampling "Freak Like Me", the club conquering "Hole In the Head" (which made it to the top of the dance charts in the U.S.), and on to 2008's brassy "Girls". The Suga only gets sweeta, in Next Steps.

Here's where we've stashed a trove of Sugababes collector's items, including a stripped-back, piano-led live version of "About You Now", which highlights the harmonising skills of Keisha, Heidi, and Amelle; a bangin' remix of Taio Cruz's "She's Like a Star" featuring the girls and Busta Rhymes; "3 Spoons of Suga" from the St. Trinians soundtrack; and a couple of tracks from the original lineup's New Year EP, for old times' sake.

With a history of tempestuous in-fighting, revolving-door lineups, and record label run-ins, it's a wonder that the three-strong girl supergroup hasn't imploded already and disappeared into that black hole of forgotten pop from which no bright young thing returns. The fact is that, through sheer talent and force of will, Sugababes — in whatever configuration — have made themselves unforgettable, and every storm has been survived, notably by the one constant member, Keisha Buchanan. Each track among these Essentials, from the sassy "Freak Like Me" to "You On a Good Day", a Supremes-sounding collaboration with Swedish super-producer by Klas Ahlund from 2008's Catfights and Spotlights, confirms just why we need them.
