    • 2. "Ashes to Ashes" by David Bowie: "The man's a legend and this song epitomizes Bowie more than any other over his brilliant career. An incredible tune that still sounds fresh, it just oozes class."
    • 3. "Whispering Pines" by The Band: "This is a classic song from band that may be partly responsible for our more sensitive side, its soft vocals and transient piano parts make it in our opinion one of the greatest ballads ever written, and does so without sounding cheesy in any way."
    • 4. "Rag Doll" by Aerosmith: "Aerosmith at their best — full of grove with solid beats a bluesy riff and a catchy repetitive chorus."
    • 5. "Rocket Queen" by Guns N' Roses: "Apart from the fact it's an amazing song with plenty of groove and swagger, I think the reason I originally loved the song is because there is a live recording of a girl having sex with the band, and that had a big impression on me."
    • 6. "A Quick One, While He's Away (Remixed Stereo)" by The Who: "Cheeky as you like. It's like 3 or 4 songs in one. A full on mini opera. The build to the climax sounds so chaotic and shambolic. It's so energetic but the melodies and story are so strong that it always keeps its focus. It never fails to entertain."
    • 7. "Maps" by Yeah Yeah Yeahs: "Looking down the list we realised that we should probably add something post 1987, but finding any recent music that we all like is harder than you might think. Yeah Yeah Yeahs is not the typical sort of thing we would listen to, but we feel 'Maps' shows the same timeless qualities that the other tracks on the list have. It's a song that gets better with every listen, and is like nothing else around at the moment, with intricate, but clever guitar parts, and a vocal performance that is enough to put a lump"
