Eat Right & Run | For this project I decided to research some foods or kinds of foods runners should be eating for a long distance run or race. I found this interesting to me because I was able to use this myself for my own running. I hope that other people will do this also because it is a healthy lifestyle. I will be talking specifically about the complex carbohydrates, and how they will need to be used and when they should be eaten before a run. This is what I will be talking about during my presentation. | 21 5 07 | Free | View In iTunes |

Boost Your Immune System | This pod cast will be about how your immune system helps protect you from viruses and infections. Without your immune system, there is no way that you would be alive right now. It protects you from the smallest cold to the worst case pneumonia. Without it, the smallest infection could kill you. Being immunized is one of the best things you could do to protect your immune system. (Biology topic - Immune system) | 18 5 07 | Free | View In iTunes |

Obesity - A Health Epidemic | Obesity is a serious health issue. An estimated 3.8 million people weight over 300 lbs and more than 400,000 weight over 400 lbs. From 1962 to 2000 the % of obese people in the U.S. rose from 13% to 31%. Obesity contributes to over 300,000 deaths per year. (Biology topic - Nutrition) | 18 5 07 | Free | View In iTunes |

Fish or Famine? | For years many people have thought that the oceans supply of fish as a source of food was endless, but unfortunately that is not true. Today over-fishing our world oceans and seas is a big problem. Without taking steps to decreasing the amount of fish we eat each year, the problem will only progress. If action is not taken now, we will most likely run out of fish within the next fifty years. With present and forecast levels of the world population it is not possible to solve the over-fishing issue. However, there are mitigation measures that can save selected fisheries and forestall the collapse of others. (Biology Topic - Ecological interactions) | 18 5 07 | Free | View In iTunes |

Give Me Air to Breathe! | Air pollution in our nation is a leading cause of death. This is also true in countries such as Mexico and China. I want everyone to live in pleasant healthy environments. Plant a Tree | Without respiration from humans and animals, trees would suffer. As well as if there was a decline in photosynthesis. By cutting down trees, our society is condemning the trees and therefore condemning ourselves. All of these living organisms depend on each other, and this is why we should plant trees regularly. Steriod Trouble | Most young athletes can tell you that the drive to win can be fierce. Beside achieving personal gain, dreams for their country, a scholarship, or having a change to play professional ball and powerful motivators for athletes to turn to performance enhancing drugs. Listen to Your Music Well | Approximately 30 million Americans are affected by hearing loss. 10 million of these are attributed to noise-induced hearing loss. This can happen by being exposed to very low sounds. If the sound reaches 85 decibels (db) or stronger it can cause damage to your hearing. A typical conversation is 60 db, but an idling bulldozer is 85 dbs, which is loud enough to cause hearing permanent damage after only 8 hours. If you listen to a mp3 player (ipod) at the standard level of 5 the sound reaches 100 db, which is loud enough to cause permanent damage after just 15 minutes/day. So listen to your music well and play it low. You want to hear your sweet music when you are 40 too! (Biology Topic - Cellular health) | 18 5 07 | Free | View In iTunes |

Flighty Flu | The flu is a very wide spread virus, that is very easily caught and if not taken care of can become a serious health issue. About 36,000 people each year died from complications of the flu, the complications that apply usually consist of bacterial pneumonia, ear infections, sinus infections, dehydration, congestive heart failure, asthma, or diabetes. Influenza viruses are very contagious and are usually passed through the air. Protect yourself from the flu by taking these precautions: make sure you get vaccinated with a flu shot, keep up good hygiene such as washing your hands as much as possible, keep your distance from people who have the virus, and get plenty of sleep.
