CleanLesson 340 – Coffee Break French | This episode marks the end of an era! It's the final lesson of Season 3 of Coffee Break French. We first met Alf, Katie and Veronica over 18 months ago and since then hopefully all our listeners have built their confidence and developed their range of expression in the French language. This final episode provides further opportunities for listeners to practise what they've learned through a series of translation challenges and, for premium members, a further dictation exercise. In this week's basic (free) version (12 minutes), we'll give you five English sentences which you need to translate into French using your knowledge of the grammar points covered over the lessons of Season 3. The extended version (31 minutes) includes a further five translation exercises and this week's dictée which will put your writing skills to the test. As usual, in addition to the extended lesson, the members' materials also include a lesson guide in both pdf format and our ePub version which now includes audio clips too. This ePub format has been specially created for the iBooks app on the iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad. CleanRadio Lingua News Update | Welcome to this festive edition of Radio Lingua News. In this update we'll be telling you about the fantastic milestone we reached this week, and explaining how you can save 25% on our premium memberships until the end of the year. 100 million downloads Early on Friday morning we clocked up our 100 millionth download. Over the past five years learners from around the world have downloaded our free language lessons and we're delighted to have reached this amazing milestone. We'd like to thank all our listeners for continuing to enjoy our language lessons, and a special thank you to all our members who help to support all of our developments. Winter sale now on To celebrate this milestone we've launched our winter sale, so you can now get 25% off our memberships and premium versions of the courses. In most cases these premium versions include lesson guides in pdf or ebook format and extra audio or video content. All the courses available on our website can be purchased at this special reduced rate by using the coupon code winter2011 at checkout. The sale will continue until midnight on New Year's Eve - or Hogmanay as we say in Scotland, so you still have almost two weeks to take advantage of these special prices, and get a head start on your language learning for 2012. Update on current shows The reaction to our new show for Spanish learners, Q&A Spanish, has been fantastic. We're delighted that lots of you are now emailing us with your questions, or leaving voicemails so that we can include your questions in the show. JP and Nahyeli are enjoying answering your questions - even the difficult ones! If you're learning Spanish and you've not yet listened to Q&A Spanish, you can find out more about the show, download the episodes, and find out how to contact us to ask your question at qandaspanish.com (http://qandaspanish.com). We're also really pleased with On Location French, our new video blog produced by Sophie in Paris. Sophie records her regular videos with a small camera and microphone all on her own in Paris and although we had some teething problems with sound, things are settling down now. She's been including some really interesting phrases - and this week's expression is a fantastic construction to add to your vocabulary! You can access On Location French on iTunes, Blip.TV or of course at onlocationfrench.com (http://radiolingua.com/shows/french/on-location-french/). Turning to our other courses, although we've had a delay with our new One Minute Languages series, we're getting back on track and there will be new episodes out this week of our Dutch, Flemish and Arabic courses. As far as Coffee Break French is concerned, we're now into the final eight lessons of Season 3 and in these episodes we'll be going back through the texts used in this season and picking out some of the most important grammar points, then helping learners practise these constructions with a series of translation and dictation exercises. There will be lots of extra members-only content, so with our winter sale currently on, perhaps now is the time to take advantage of our special pricing. Happy holidays! Finally, we'd like to wish you all a very happy holiday season and hope that you get the chance to relax, spend time with your friends and family, enjoying everything that the festive season brings, and get the chance to work on your language - or put it into practice if you happen to be travelling! Don't forget that you can join us in our Festive Phrases video series (http://radiolingua.com/shows/festive-phrases-advent-calendar/) each day of December until the 25th to learn a festive greeting in a different language. Use the link on the home page of the Radio Lingua site to open each day of our linguistic Advent Calendar. Until the next time, happy holidays from everyone here at Radio Lingua! | 18 12 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

CleanRadio Lingua News, December 2010 | It's been a busy term for Radio Lingua: in the past three months we've published over 90 language lessons, we've introduced ebook versions of our courses in our premium memberships and on the iBookstore and we've had three of our podcasts listed in the iTunes Rewind best of 2010. We thought we'd take this opportunity to update you on a few important news items. Festive greetings Firstly, we'd like to take this opportunity to wish all our listeners a very happy festive season. We have listeners all around the world and wherever you are, whatever celebrations you're having as we head towards 2011, we hope that you have a peaceful, restful and happy holiday. All through December we've been running our Festive Phrases podcast which has featured daily festive phrases from around the world with the hosts of our various shows. This series has been particularly aimed at schools and we've been delighted that so many young language learners around the world have used our daily podcasts to learn some festive greetings in 24 languages. Each day we've added the number of speakers of the language featured to a map and by the end of the series listeners were able to send festive greetings to over 2.6 billion people around the world. If you're a teacher and you've been using Festive Phrases with your classes, please send us your feedback (http://radiolingua.com/2010/12/festive-phrases-feedback/). Coffee Break French Season 3 news We introduced season 3 of Coffee Break French in October and this week we'll release episode 10. Since we began season 3 we've offered a special introductory price for the premium version of the course which provided 3A (lessons 301-320) and 3B (lessons 321-340) together for a one-off payment of £47 GBP. As of 10th January 2011, season 3A and 3B will cost £37 each, or the complete season 3 will cost £64. This is therefore your last chance to purchase season 3 at the introductory price. Please note that all existing customers who have bought season 3 complete will receive the premium materials for the full season. UK VAT charges On 4th January 2011, the UK VAT rate increases from 17.5% to 20%. As a result our prices for EU customers will increase. For example, the current price of Coffee Break French Seasons 1 and 2 complete is £89 + VAT. This equates to £104.57. From 4th January 2011 the price will be £106.80 for EU customers. For Coffee Break Spanish Season 1 the current price is £47 + VAT. This equates to £55.23, but from 4th January the price will be £56.40 for EU customers. These changes do not affect the base prices of our products, so non-EU customers will not be affected. We've decided to extend our winter sale until 10th January to help make this transition. This means our sale will now end at midnight GMT on 10th January: continue to use coupon code WINTER2010 until 10th January. Plans for 2011 We're looking forward to a new year of language learning with Radio Lingua, and we hope you are too! "everything you ever wanted to know about the future tense, and a few things you probably didn't!" In Episode 306 of our course, we're taking a break from our weekly texts from Alf, Katie and Veronica. Last week Alf mentioned that his teacher had been teaching the students about the future tense. We thought it would be useful to go through all aspects of the future tense in this lesson. In the basic (free) version (15 minutes), we'll cover the formation of regular and common verbs with irregular future stems. The extended version (members) lasts 31 minutes and covers additional verbs such as acheter, appeler and jeter which have some spelling changes in the future. The extended version also looks at situations in which the future is used, including after quand, lorsque, dès que and aussitôt que. There's also an audio exercise which will put your understanding of the future tense to the test. In addition to the extended lesson, the members' materials also include a lesson guide in both pdf format and our new ePub version which now includes audio clips too. This ePub format has been specially created for the iBooks app on the iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad. We'll be finding out about his plans for the coming weekend, and this gives us an opportunity to review the future tense of both regular and irregular verbs. The basic (free) version of this episode lasts around 13 minutes and you'll hear the text presented at a slow speed. We'll pick up on a few language points to help you understand the text. The extended (members) version of the show lasts around 25 minutes, and we'll go through the text line by line, looking at all aspects of vocabulary, grammar and one or two idiomatic expressions. CleanCoffee Break French – Season 3 | Oui, c'est vrai! Nous sommes de retour! Coffee Break French is returning for a third season starting next Monday, 18th October. Season 3 will consist of 40 lessons and will give you the opportunity to develop your knowledge of the French language further, increasing your range of expression and building your confidence in a variety of grammatical constructions. In this season we'll be featuring three new characters who all happen to be learning French in a language school in Nice on the Côte d'Azur. There's Katie, the American student who is currently spending a year travelling, working and learning in different European countries; Veronica is a forty-something Australian entrepreneur who is taking advantage of an extended business trip to the south of France to improve her language skills; and Alf, a retired teacher from the Home Counties. As part of their weekly homework, our three characters have to keep a diary of their time spent in France, so over the next forty lessons you'll be following their adventures in Nice and the surrounding area. In each episode you'll listen to a native speaker read Katie, Veronica or Alf's diary entry (which, of course, has been corrected by Mme Soulabaille, their teacher!) and we'll talk about one or two of the language points covered in the passages. As usual, we'll be providing free versions of the lessons, offering you listening practice in the language, and we'll help you to understand the text with explanations of the language points covered. We'll also be providing the premium version of the lessons: in the members' podcast for each lesson we'll give a full analysis of the text, going through each phrase and explaining any grammar points or difficult vocabulary used. Members will, of course, have access to a full transcript of the text and accompanying language notes. We're really excited about the new season of Coffee Break French and we're sure you'll enjoy deepening your knowledge of the language with Katie, Alf and Veronica, and hundreds of thousands of Coffee Break French listeners around the world. While you're waiting for Season 3 of Coffee Break French you may be interested in reviewing what you've learned until now. We've just released the Platinum version of Coffee Break French level 2 which features a series of review exercises to help you consolidate what you covered in lessons 41-80. It's the perfect time for some review before getting started on the new materials, so if you're interested, visit radiolingua.com/cbfplatinum to purchase the platinum upgrade or the full course if you're not yet a member. The first lesson in our new season will be available on the evening of Monday 18th October. À très bientôt alors! | 12 10 10 | Free | View In iTunes |

CleanLesson 71 – Coffee Break French | One of the main things learners seem to be finding difficult is the idea of making conversation with people. It's easy enough to order a coffee, or book into a hotel, and saying the words and phrases you've learned at the appropriate time is great, but sometimes it's not enough. What happens when you ask a question and you receive 30 seconds of solid French in return? In the final ten lessons of Coffee Break French we've created something which we think will help you develop your range of language, and allow you to get more used to picking out the key words and phrases as you listen. We're delighted to introduce this first episode in a series of ten shows which introduce a 'radio play', featuring Scottish couple "David" and "Christina", who are on holiday in Villefranche, who meet up with Jean-Jacques and his wife Sophie. Each lesson will feature excerpts from the long conversation in which David and Christina get to know their new friends. In this first episode, David and Christina get lost on the way to the Lion D'Or, a restaurant in Villefranche. They bump into Jean-Jacques who happens to be heading the same way and they end up going to the restaurant together. They chat on the way to the restaurant. GREAT podcast!!!!!!
Like it's sister Coffee break Spanish , this french version proves to be a another hit for Radio Lingua and rightfully so!! The enhanced podcast are really helpful and all the extra bonus materials ; bonus audio lessons, video podcast, the pdf guides really reinforce and enhanced the learning experience. Mark paces his lessons well, audio quality of the podcast is excellent, he keeps things clear and simple and his voice is lovely and quite soothing, which always helps and i find myself enjoying and learning from the lessons and looking forward to the next podcast. Anna is lovely and great too and i do like the concept of someone else learning with you. All in all a very well rounded podcast. I really enjoy learning from this podcast and it takes the pressure off of being in a real classes because it can be quite daunting for some especially when it comes to learning a foreign language. So now i get to learn french in the comforts of my own home at my own pace and gain some confidence before attending any courses or on holiday in a french speaking country. LOVE it and can't recommend it enough!!! Mark and Anna keep up the good work and keep the podcast coming!!
Very good indeed
I never had the chance to learn French at School, so I am a complete beginner. This is a very well constructed podcast. The lessons are easy to follow as well as being engaging, so learning French is a pleasure, not a chore! Mark and Anna have a great teacher/student relationship, which works very well. Highly recommended.
Bon!
This Podcast is amazing, I was doing rubbish in my French Lessons, then, I picked up my Ipod Nano, Dowloaded every single episode, and listened to them all, Now, I'm GOOD In french! (Note; Good, means not a fluent speeker, you HAVE to take the time to Learn what they are saying!) Adam
