Guest Mix 21 – Lel Palfrey | As promised - a week of new content. Well three posts so far anyway. Another guest mix next - Lel Palfrey who lives in Edinburgh and plays out in the city's bar circuit, where he can be found playing a mix of Boogie, Jazz-Funk & Disco. He's used said records and sent in a mix which is pretty much aligned to the sound he'll be playing at Ultragroove - the city's longest running and musically forward thinking party, on sat 20th November. If you're in Edinburgh on the 20th you can catch him playing at Ultragroove, Cabaret Voltaire were he will be dropping boogie / Funk / Soul sound in the back room. And he's 40 on the 24th and informs us that he drinks anything alcoholic from any of the 2 bars - if anyones buying... Good luck with that, Lel! Project Tempo | Thanks to a somewhat dodgy internet connection I have not been able to upload any mixes now for what seems like an eternity. This week that changes - the net is back, and the upload stream is plentiful. Ive got four or five to go up and no better way to kick off than with a mix from Paris duo Project Tempo. Their slo-mo, friendly vibe in their DJ sets led them to create a series of re-edits which, after appearing on some well respected DJ forums, have steadily gained momentum and support from a hugely diverse range of DJs. The king of the edit himself Greg Wilson, plus other big hitters in the disco scene like Ashley Beedle and Dimitri from Paris are among those who have shown their appreciation for the Project Tempo reworks and featured them in their DJ sets. This mix was created and sent over to me from the guys to go hand in hand with the new Project Tempo edits (of Carly Simon "Why" and Tom Tom Club "Genius of Love") that you can find on wax now at your local internet record shop... Full Tracklisting Project Tempo / Tom Tom Dub B.W.H. feat Paolo Del Prete / Stop (Nathan Wilkins & Midnight Mike Remix) Hot Toddy / I Need Love (Morgan Geist LoveDub) Mario Basanov / Caribbean Girl Rufas & Chaka Khan / Ain't Nobody (Project Tempo Re-edit) SOS Band / Just the Way you Like It (Project Tempo Re-edit) Project Tempo / Why Not Edit? 6th Borough Project / How can I show You? Liverpool Disco Mixes – Rich Furness | And so, we go back to the mixes. Continuing the series that have a take on disco from people in and around the Liverpool area, here we have good friend Rich Furness own personal twist. Rich is probably better known as a dubstep/drumnbass dj, but really there is nothing he doesn't like or listen to. This is a contemporary mix with a really solid deep vibe and is one of the best mixes in this series so far - a sound I dont explore enough myself (and more fool me). I usually talk more crap here, this time the music can do the talking. Tracklisting Hunee / Took My Love Weirdo Police / Electronic Cretin Session Victim / Memory Lae Downtown Party Network / Walk On Ice Deetron & Seth Troxler / Sing Kyle Hall / Tomorrow Is The Day Johnny D / Walkman Floating Points / Vacuum Boogie Ajello / Moody Bang (Tensnake Remix) Space Dimension Controller / Journey To The Core Of The Unknown Phase Robert Owens / Bring Down The Walls Akufen / Jeep Sex Theo Parrish Feat Alena Waters / Soul Control Actress / Always Human Toby Tobias / In Your Eyes (Tensnake Remix) Kamei / Radio Station Lone / Once In A While | 16 9 10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Liverpool Disco Mixes – Adam Heliwell | I've met some decent people this year - its been a good year. Playing more places has meant that i know have more friends in Poland, Brighton, Bristol and (deep breath)...Swindon! However, one of the stand out nights of the year was being asked to play at the re-opening of the legendary 3 Beat (now 3B) records in Liverpool. It turned out to be well worth the trip into town, although I still havent been back to get my sunglasses or headphones because I am f*****g useless. One of the stand out things about the night, besides Thomas Tuft dad jamming to my djing with a saxaphone, was meeting the next Liverpool Disco Mix selector, Adam Helliwell. I'd known of him for a while, but never spoke properly...and it turns out that just like the rest of them hes a good, decent, knowledgeable chap. I asked for a guest mix from him, and unlike the rest of them, he has actually come up with the goods (sort it out boys). Now whoever else is out there reading this knows that not only is he sound, he can also pull out a great mix. This is exactly what I wanted when I started asking people for Disco mixes - a different take each time and so far so good, with this mix expertly covering the deeper side of the nu-disco spectrum (without treading too far into edit territory). It really has been a good year. Liverpool Disco Mixes – Ste Edge | The Liverpool disco mix series continues with mixes from both known, and possibly unknown people from the Merseyside area spinning their own take on disco. This weeks installment see's NuNorthern Soul resident Ste Edge mixing up a roller-coaster ride of what I would consider some of the best disco vibe stuff about. A really good uplifting Friday mix. You can catch Ste playing at the next NuNorthern Soul night in Chester, alongside the likes of Phil Cooper, Ste Hodge. I will also be a guest on the bill for this one, the night before the country's most successful club head to Manchester to let the southerner's see us play. I wont tell you which team Ste will be supporting that day, but at least you can hear that with a mix as good as this, his brain hasn't completely turned to mush yet. Find out more about ste from Soundcloud. or give him a shout on Facebook. Liverpool Disco Mixes – Gavin Kendrick | Around this time last year I started off a small series of mixes called "Liverpool Disco Mixes". There were around 4 or 5 from different people in and around the city, and they were well received. With this in mind, a repeat of the series this year inviting more DJ's to contribute seemed a good idea. If it works, and the mixes come in, there should be enough to keep going for the next couple of months. I am also working on an article about the history of disco in Liverpool, which will be published at the end of the series. The premise of the mixes is simple - when you look through them you might not directly think of them as "disco" per-say, but I have left the interpretation of disco to the DJ - so its up to them to put there own angle on it whatever that may be. Disco, in essence, is just music played in discotheques and therefore in theory could accomodate everything. The first mix is from one time Cosmic Boogie member Gavin Kendrick - a friend and brilliant DJ, who will also be resident with me at the new Cosmic Boogie Presents... night in Liverpool. No better way to start. Tracklisting Linkwood & House of Traps / Barely Eagle Leftside Wobble / Dub A Way Affinity / Don't Go Away (Runaway Dub) Tri-Fire / Breeze Up Onra feat. Guest Mix 20 – DJ Boogie | As I may have mentioned on here a few times, I am very fond of Poland. I have been to play out there twice now and have people I consider friends for life. One of the best things about the place is the passion and knowledge the people have for music and partying, often putting my own knowledge - and partying ability - to shame. Last time I was out there when we had finished our night about 3 a.m. - we went to another club with as few local DJ's playing hip hop, funk, boogie...you get the picture. One of the DJ's was a guy called DJ Boogie (yes, a great name)...and I dont think I have danced as much without the aid of *cough* consumables, since I was about 18. Thats quite a while ago. I dont think I need give any more reason as to why I got in touch with him when I got back and asked for a guest mix. If your a DJ who knows how to make people dance, then you deserve all the mix time you can get. Thank you, DJ Boogie. Tracklisting Chime Disco / Keep It Up Webster Lewis / Are You My Life Nccu / Super Trick Cameo / Your Love Takes Me Out Locksmith / Unlock the Funk T-Connection / Midnight Train Teddy Pendergrass / Only You Crown Heights Affair / You Gave Me Love (Boogie edit) Donald Byrd / Caricatures Idris Muhammad / Turn This Mutha Out Midnight Starr / Two in Love Instant Funk / Slap, Slap Lickedy Lap Roy Ayers / Can't You See Me Dynasty / I've Just Began To Love You New Bird / Up Against The Wall | 24 6 10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Cosmic Boogie's Been A While Mix | It actually has been ages. Looking back through the archives, the last time I did a mix for my own blog (directly that is - one thats not hosted by or created for anyone else) is over two years ago. A time when my football club hadn't imploded, my second child was still a mere grub, and apple hadn't "changed everything" at least 14 times. So last night I thought about what kind of mix to do - seeing as there are going to be a few others released on other sites over the next week or two, and the path it took me down was much of the more nu-disco and houseier sounds that I have in my box, and like, but get little chance to work into what I play normally. So here it is, a mix of stuff that shows a different, perhaps more up-front, vibe. I suppose this is Cosmic Boogie Mix 15 - but I have decided to drop the numbers on the mixes as they mean nothing. Gav Kendrick asked me to do that a while ago, and sadly Inbsp;didn'tnbsp;listen then. I hear you now, Gav lad. Tracklisting The Time #38; Space Machine / More Cowbell Dicky Trisco Edit / Night Dancing Illija Rudman / Call Me Tonight (The Revenge Engaged Mix) Russ Brown / Find A Way (Leftside Wobble Dub) Space Ranger / Herbal Cake (The Revenge Rubdown) Alkalino #38; BlackLodge / Breaking Bad The Francis Inferno Orchestra / Meet Me In Salt Lake City Dan Electro / Look Around Chopstick #38; Johjon Feat. Guest Mix 19 – Chris Barker | The chances are that if you are reading this from somewhere that is not Liverpool or Birmingham, you wont have ever heard of Chris Barker. This is a real shame because he's not only a thoroughly decent individual, he is also (as you will soon hear) a very talented DJ and producer. His skills are about to be unleashed on the world with the signing of many of the records from his Deep Space Orchestra project with Si "jazzchops" Murray, and the continuing success of the Altiplano night in Liverpool that he is resident at along side Kelvin Andrews. I have been asking him for a guest mix for some time, as every time I hear him play, it usually ends with me drunkenly shouting at him that he is the best DJ in Liverpool. He finally passed me one a few weeks back, and now I pass it on to you. Its things like this that make me pleased to chip in on a site were I can put up mixes from people I want to hear (and want others to hear) - without any high profile name stigma. Guest Mix 18 – Frantic | Its friday, and the volcano is causing havoc across the airports of europe, meaning that many of the international superstar dj's due to be flying into the UK have had to cancel. Fear not though, because here is a guest mix from an International DJ that I think is probably the best mix ive had up on the site this year so far. When I started Cosmic Boogie, I did it to break away the shackles of what was a pretty restrictive genre id been djing for many years. I wanted to be able to play different genres and BPM's side by side. Inbsp;wantednbsp;to be able to do exactly what this mix does. I cant really articulate it better than that. You might know Frantic as one of the leading figures at the excellent Sleazy Beats Recordings - who have so far had tracks out from Eddie C and LTJ Experience, and if you dont know him from that, then now you know him from this. A truly superb mix of records, many that Inbsp;didn'tnbsp;know. Surely the best kind. Guest Mix 17 – Local Zero | So at last I am finally fulfilling the promise of new content and new mixes. Here is the second of three mixes I have to go up (and in fact just got sent another this morning - joy), and this one is from Brighton resident Local Zero. I first became aware of Local Zero after a few people I know favorited mixes on the soundcloud account, and then had a listen myself (whilst beavering away making the millions of pounds I earn each day grafting). I met the man himself when I was down spinning in Brighton, and asked him for a mix. This is the product of that ask. Im sure you agree, any mix that ends with the Eddienbsp;Kendrick's Date With Thenbsp;Rain has a place right here on CB. Guest Mix 16 – Emma | I promised you three new mixes, and three new mixes you will have. The first one on the list is this from Emma - an hour long journey though deep house with jacking disco strands. Emma came to play at Archive for us a month or so ago andnbsp;didn'tnbsp;get anything like long enough, so hopefully this makes up for it somewhat. She will be playing again for us in the future as long as she remembers her way back to the North West, after the soon arriving exodus to the bright lights... Guest Mix 15 – Jess Gascgoine | This is the best mix I have heard on Soundcloud so far - and there are, as you know, lots of mixes on Soundcloud. Jess sent me a message over to check some of her stuff out, and as you can see from the rather ace tracklisting its a skillful mix of funk, soul and northern with a touch of Jazz. Its the kind of thing most of us love, but don't have the records (or the ability) to put together. These are all from original 7", and for that, all I can do is doff my cap and ask that if you only download one mix from this site, let it be this one. Truly inspiring. You can catch Jess playing around Liverpool from time to time at The Magnet, and you can hear this and other things up on her Soundcloud page. Warsaw Rocks… | I was asked to go out to play in Poland by the Strictly Business crew (J-son and Funkoff - known to friends as Rafal and Jaromir) last weekend (28th November), and I just thought I would take a minute to reflect on a great trip, meeting cool, knowledgeable, talented and hospitable people at every turn. The night was a success in that everyone who was there seemed to be having a great time. It wasnt without its technical problems to start with - I use Serato and we had a few issues for whatever reason, so in the end we made the decision to stop stressing, and get on with the night taking one deck each - me on the left hand side with Serato and the Strictly Business boys on the right playing from trusty old vinyl - a back to back. To say it worked well is an understatement. As none of us knew what each other would do next, all your standard set build up was thrown out of the window. It was just bomb after bomb after bomb, and the crowd responded by climbing up on the stage, jumping, clapping, shouting, cheering....and of course, dancing (like mad). A truly great atmosphere. I promised that when I got back I would create a mix with all the tracks I played from the night, however, looking at the list its just so many big numbers it might not make pretty listening outside of a club at 3 a.m., so I decided to put together an hour mix of the kind of vibe we had, but more on a level thats easy to listen to now. You can download and stream it below (and there is also a tracklisting). Id like to thank Piotr, Rafal, Jaromir and the people at Club Balsam for making a truly great trip, and I know that if you carry on doing what you are doing then this will all come good in Warsaw. It's clearly ready for it...
