ExplicitPodcast 83 – Skyrimfest | Hello! I hope you like Skyrim, because here is an entire podcast about it. Helpfully, this means we don't need to say much else for the blurb. Oh, it's a bit spoilery (and probably pretty dull) if you've not played Skyrim yet. So, sort that out. Join us next time for a world-shattering announcement. That is all. We love you. ExplicitPodcast 82 – Emergent Dog Games | Woof! There's a trailer for the new Grand Theft Auto, and we react to it in the only way we know how - we talk about the possibilities offered by the apparent inclusion of dogs, and Owen talks about economics for a bit. Amazing. And that's not all! Sean and Owen also talk forever about the games they played at the Indie Arcade at this year's Eurogamer Expo. Yeah, we're still wringing content out of that. Shut up. Also, listener questions. Loads of them. In fact, this episode runs pretty much forever. But do listen to all of it! Because Owen tells you at the end how to win a copy of Blocks That Matter and The Binding of Isaac. Oh, and Andi's back in this one. Sorry. ExplicitPodcast 81 – Rim Runners | This would've been up a week ago, but Sean ate a whole bag of Starburst one evening and it gave him trapped wind. We'll ignore the fact that, even if this episode had gone up a week ago, it still would've been woefully late. This is part two of three of our Eurogamer Expo coverage, if you think the last episode counts. We do. Instead of us just sitting around in a car, though, this episode has us actually talking about actual games that we actually played at the show. Imagine! There's too many to list (and half of them are probably on the shelves now), and it goes on forever, but shut up. It's value for money. After we've talked about the games, we talk about the show in general, and answer your questions, like ALWAYS. Next episode will feature our interviews with all the indie developers we could harass into talking to us, as well as maybe a special Hallowe'en bit. We'll see. BYE! ExplicitPodcast 80 – Renegade Podcasting | Hello and welcome to another episode of our stupid podcast. This one was recorded whilst Owen and Sean sat in Sean's car, waiting to be let into Andi's flat so they could get some sleep before attending this year's Eurogamer Expo in that London they have down there. If Sean seems a bit slow to begin with, it's because he's driven for nearly five hours and just been to Pizza Hut. This episode's a relatively short one, wherein we sort of try and talk about what we've been playing (and fail miserably), then have a break, then get onto the good stuff, like answering your questions and talking about our plans for the expo. Most of which didn't happen at all. But there'll be more on that in the next episode where we talk more fully about our experiences at the show. SEE YOU THEN. x Send us your idiotic/beautiful questions, requests or competition entries either by email (podcast [at] darkzero.co.uk) or via Twitter. ExplicitPodcast 79 – Deadly Slopes | Hey! Remember ages ago when we said anyone who stayed up to watch all the rubbish E3 conferences with us could be on the show? THIS IS THAT SHOW. The usual line-up are joined by Joe, Chris, Richard, Thom and Kain (not Sean's dog, another one) and they attempt to talk about games without constantly interrupting each other. Also at one point Andi breaks his headset. It's very exciting. After the usual games-of-the-week/month/whatever, we put our listeners ON THE SPOT by making them do the Ninja Games recommendations for once, and then we ask them a load of stupid questions. See how they bloody like it. Thanks so much to those of you who came on the show (and apologies to PhilWal; rules are rules, but you are still our favourite). It was a genuine pleasure to get to chat to some of you, and most of you didn't have awful microphones which was an unexpected bonus. The fate of the next episode hangs in the balance, on account of Andi not having a proper headset. We'll probably let you know via Twitter when he sorts that out, or something. ExplicitPodcast 78 – Restorative Powers | ***FENTIMANS IN NO WAY SPONSOR OR ENDORSE THIS PODCAST. IN FACT THEY PROBABLY DON'T EVEN KNOW THAT IT EXISTS. IT WOULD BE INCREDIBLE IF THEY DID, THOUGH.*** Hiya! Remember a few weeks ago, when that stuff about Diablo 3 having an in-game auction house was news? That's when this was recorded!!! This episode features an unplanned XBLA love-in where we talk about loads of XBLA games that've appeared lately and how totally great they are. Owen also talks about trains. It's just a thing he's into at the moment. There is a bit where we talk about Diablo 3, as well as a bunch of stuff Andi and Sean saw at a recent Namco Bandai event. And then there is a bit where we answer your questions. And then there is a bit where, finally, it ends and we can all go to sleep. That is the best bit. Goodnight. ExplicitPodcast 77 – Holiday in Soweto | Good news! The recording for this episode clocked in at two hours and forty minutes, but it turned out over an hour of that was utterly redundant and has been skilfully removed. THINGS IN THIS EPISODE: Owen has been playing Tiny Tower and CivWorld; Sean's rediscovered the joys of altruism through Monster Hunter Tri, and Andi's been playing Quake Live like some kind of early-noughties throwback mental. Sean attempts to make an observation about how retailers couldn't give a s**t about the PSP, and how this can actually work in the maligned handheld's favour. Then, we address the issue of the last episode getting covered pretty much everywhere as a result of Team Meat's comments on piracy. In case it needs saying again, thanks so much to Ed and Tommy for coming on the show, and thanks to you if you're a new listener who stuck around for more than one episode. Regular listeners, though? No thanks for you. NO THANKS. After that, QUESTIONS. Our memory of this bit is pretty foggy, but there's a definitely a bit where we explain why Ross Kemp couldn't believe his luck when he was offered the opportunity to spend his days visiting parts of the world ravaged by crime or war. There's also a poncy discussion about how we define what a videogame is, wherein Owen discusses why walking into a lift is a game, and Tetris isn't. And some other stuff. ENJOY. ExplicitPodcast 76 – Meet Team Meat | Holy balls, it's special guest time. This episode, we're joined by Edmund McMillen and Tommy Refenes of Team Meat. Well, Ed joins us for pretty much the whole thing, while Tommy does his best to stay involved via a wonky 3G connection, and God bless him for doing so when it would've been totally acceptable for him to tell us he had better things to do. There's a lot of conflicting info in the podcast about the running order, and there are two intros. So, don't worry too much about trying to figure out what the hell is going on. It's fine. We kick off by asking Ed (and sometimes Tommy) a load of questions - hoping to avoid a repeat of the episode where we had Michael Pachter on, and spent half an hour boring him to tears with Phantasy Star Online chat - ranging from proper questions to the usual juvenile crap we come out with. For example, there's a bit where Ed and Tommy detail their feelings towards the IGF Awards, but there's also a bit about pooing in public places. After that, we discuss what we've bought in the recent Steam sale and not actually played, then we fire some of your questions into Ed's face and ears. Many thanks to everyone who sent those in, and apologies that, for once, we couldn't read them all out due to time constraints. Thanks for listening, and thanks for Ed and Tommy for taking the time to appear on our ridiculous show. We love you all. ExplicitPodcast 75 – It’s s**t. | In this episode, Andi tells us what he thinks of Duke Nukem Forever. For about eighteen minutes. Also, we talk about other games! Owen, for example, talks forever about Sentient and ends up getting the Silent Hill dog treatment. And Sean talks about playing his free copy of WipEout Fury and manages to find some stuff to whine about. Even though it was free and totally great. Then there are listener questions, which we answer with our minds and voices. And, sometimes, our hearts. Oh, it's another two-hour episode. Sorry about that. Think of it as value for money, even though you're not paying us anything at all! Haha. No seriously though send us some money. ExplicitPodcast 74 – Goodbye, my friend. | Aw, man. It had to happen eventually, but we don't have to like it. It's Ian's last proper episode, as he's left us for a career in PR. He hasn't admitted to doing coke yet, but it's only a matter of time. We skip what we've been playing, because we had nothing interesting to say on that front, and these podcast episodes have been too sodding long lately anyway. We go straight into listener questions - thanks for those - and then discuss our thoughts on E3. The whole procedure takes about 80 minutes, and is relatively painless. Apart from one bit that will leave you emotionally devastated. So keep an ear out for that. Oh! And as a parting gift, Ian attempts to give some stuff away at the end. So pay attention and you might win some rubbish. Everyone loves rubbish. ExplicitPodcast 72 – Reggiemania | AHHH. IT'S NEARLY E3. And look at us, making the same mistake we do every year. Allowing ourselves to get excited about it. Making plans. Talking about what we think might happen, when we know just as little as you do. BRILLIANT. This week kicks off with Owen talking too much about Pokémon Blue, Sean talks about Duke Nudem and then wishes he hadn't, and finally Andi and Sean join forces to talk about the hugely flawed masterpiece that is Brink. The second bit is all about E3. Listen to us talk about how badly we want Phantasy Star Online 2, as if you didn't already know. Third bit, is LISTENER QUESTIONS. They are good. Listen to them. Next episode - which should hopefully go up before E3 - we announce the winners of the Magicka competition, and finalise our plans for the DarkZero E3 Liveblog/Glorified Chat Room. So LISTEN to THAT. ExplicitPodcast 71 – Gay interest special | Aged for two weeks, just how you like it. Ian's away, possibly for a while, so you'll have to make do with just Sean, Andi and Owen. Owen still sounds like he's in a warehouse. We're going to make him fix that, or possibly just stab him. Either way, it won't be a problem in future. In honour of our friends at IGN - all none of them - this episode is our gay interest special. Deal with it. THIS EPISODE contains words about Crysis 2, Lego Pirates of the Caribbean, Lego Die Hard, Cargo!, Section 8: Prejudice, and some other stuff. We then discuss THE NEWS as it was two weeks ago. We'll get better at this, promise. The Magicka competition is still open, and we'll make it easier for you all by shoving the details in here. If you want to win a copy of Magicka and the recent Vietnam DLC, e-mail us at the usual address (below) and tell us your own made-up magick spell. It can use the elements in the game, or ones you've made up yourself. Points awarded for imagination and FUNNY. If you don't know why you should want a copy of Magicka - and you bloody should - or you don't know enough about how the game's magick system works, read Sean's stupid review. That should give you some idea. Also, we're torn as to what we should do for E3. Last year we ran a little liveblog/glorified chat-room during the big conferences, and it was a lot of fun. HOWEVER, we've also toyed with the idea of recording commentaries for the conferences instead. So, we're leaving it up to you to decide what we do. GET IN TOUCH. TELL US. Next time: loads of pre-E3 chat probably!!! Send us your idiotic/beautiful questions, requests or competition entries either by email (podcast [at] darkzero.co.uk) or via Twitter. ExplicitPodcast 70 – Falling Into Your Own Mind | Hey! Have a recording from two weeks ago or something. Come on, you know the drill by now. Oh, good news though: THERE'S AN ACTUAL COMPETITION IN THIS ONE. We've got a bunch of copies of Magicka and the recent Vietnam expansion to give away. If that sounds like something you might be interested in, listen to the podcast. I think the bit about the competition is near the end, so you can either skip straight to that or, if you really must, listen to the whole bloody thing. Episode 71 is already in the can, so don't worry about closing dates or anything just yet. We'll figure that out some other time. This episode features a load of not-quite-current guff about the new Nintendo console, CVG's 'WRONG' campaign, the Portal 2 launch, and Christ alone knows what else. Then we answer your questions, which are incredible. Join us next time, where we try out an incredible structural shift in the podcast running order. Sort of. Cheers! ExplicitPodcast 69 – Sexy Insects | We wanted to call this 'INSEXY', or 'INSECTSY'. But it doesn't really work. You see what we mean though? Anyway. We've actually got two episodes in the can as we write this, because Sean got himself a promotion at his proper job, and is too knackered to edit stuff on time. So, the episode we most recently asked questions for has been recorded, but will be released some time soon. Or in a month or something. Who knows!? Still, let's deal with this episode, first. Sean and Ian talk far too much about Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Andi talks loads about The Sims: Medieval (it's good, apparently!) and we can't remember what Owen talked about because this was recorded about three weeks ago. Probably something good, though. The listener questions bit is varied as ever, with the topics of discussion ranging from the titular sexy insects, to the subject of infanticide in games. Also, Ian finally, finally shares his sexy animal story. So, listen out for that. Check back with us next time where we'll have an actual competition with an actual good prize that you might actually want! Not even kidding. Thanks as always for your questions and that. We are worthless without you, basically. Oh yeah, Owen's audio sounds a bit poo in the first half. It gets better, though. Sorry. ExplicitPodcast 68 – FRIDAY FRIDAY | GUESS WHICH VIDEO WE'VE BEEN WATCHING ON YOUTUBE! It's nearly 1am and we need to sleep, so you're getting a crappy phoned-in podcast blurb this week. We talk about Spiral Knights, rubbish Facebook games, Full House Poker, and some other stuff. Then we answer your questions. And there are some funny jokes about Rebecca Black, because there aren't enough of those on the internet yet. ENJOY. The DarkZero podcast is brought to you in association with NinjaGames. ExplicitPodcast 67 – TutankhamIan | YEAH IT'S LATE SHUT UP. One day we will be as big as Ricky Gervais and we'll be able to do this for a living, but we're not quite there yet. We can't really remember what's on this episode. There's a Twitter poll at some point to find out which host is the best, and some stuff about John Romero's wives. Oh! And there's a competition to win some Xbox Avatar stuff, thanks to listener Thedni. Listen to the podcast to find out what the hell that's about. There's also a little bit with Michael Pachter in it, thanks to Owen doing a spot of REAL JOURNALISM in San Francisco. Also, if nothing else, you should listen to this episode to hear Sean suddenly become very ill in the second half. It's ace. We should be recording early next week, so feel free to get your questions and competition entries to us via Twitter, or by e-mailing us at podcast [at] darkzero.co.uk. ExplicitPodcast 65 – Doctor Who is for morons. | Episode 65. Ian thinks that's a significant number. It isn't, but that didn't stop us recording yet another two-hour behemoth for your ears and mind. FIRST BIT: - DC Universe Online - Marvel Vs Capcom 3 - Starcraft II SECOND BIT: - Videogame BAFTA (BAVGA, whatever) discussion - Stuff about the potentially great The Art of Video Games exhibition THIRD BIT (ANSWERING YOUR STUPID QUESTIONS): - Are games magazines still relevant? - DEAD ISLAND DEAD ISLAND DEAD SIALDN DEADISALAND DEAD ISLANDADEIASNDLAND - Our favourite game endings - Our least favourite game endings - Sean does an offensive impression of all PC gamers everywhere - Incontinence in the Mass Effect universe ...and then we ran out of time. So, we've already recorded the next podcast where we tackle the remaining questions, as Ian and Owen are away for a bit. So, you can look forward to weeping gently as you listen to that next week. ExplicitPodcast 64 – Don’t Make Noises, Ever. | Yo! This week's podcast is pretty special, as it's the first one where the team actually wildly disagrees on something. Namely, whether or not it's a good thing that Game and Gamestation are planning to sell download vouchers for XBLA titles in-store. Is it a good idea? Or is it just another desperate attempt from games retailers to remain relevant in a market that is slowly moving away from them? YOU DECIDE. Well, we do. And we argue about it for a bit, before moving on to a more general discussion about parents' inability to deal with their kids buying virtual goods with their money. Right, what else? Oh, Andi won't shut up about Dead Space 2 for the first ten minutes or so, so sorry about that. The good news is that we get revenge on him in the second half by having an interminable discussion about sexism in the games industry, which he barely contributes to and therefore presumably found it really dull. It isn't, though. We also answer loads more questions, and that. Join us next time when we'll talk about bloody Dead Island like everyone else in the world with a mouth. Hooray! ExplicitPodcast 63 – A piece of E.T.’s face | Oh no! Not another one! This week's podcast is longer than usual, so we've stuck all the best stuff towards the end, just to upset you. Ha! We kick off by tackling the Livingstone-Hope review, and the relevance of getting a degree in games design. This was probably a mistake, as we hadn't really warmed up, and Ian goes off on a rant that neither we nor he can figure out. We then discuss our games of the week and follow a few weird tangents about game marketing, release schedules, and Andi's stupid fat fingers that can't control touch-screen games. Ian also talks about porn stars for a bit. He insists it's videogame-related, but we genuinely cannot remember if that turned out to be true. During the break - somewhere around the middle, break fans! - we've got a mini-interview with our glorious leader Ben Knowles, wherein he has a special message for each and every one of you. The listener questions in the second half are as wonderful as ever, and take us on a series of massive discussions about role-playing in videogames, and the usefulness (or lack of) of morality bars. It's pretty interesting, if you like videogames. If you don't, it's probably woefully dull! Oh, special thanks/apologies to Robert Burns, because we totally forgot to read out his e-mail question. That'll get done next week. And now, some horrible links that will make only sense once you've heard the podcast: NSFW Dugtrio Egg Shepard Ta! x RSS Feed | Download mp3 | iTunes | 8 2 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitPodcast 62 – Never Get Played | Will we get sued for that image? Let's hope not!!!! GUYS! The new PSP has been announced! But, we know what you're thinking. You're thinking, "I think I like the new PSP, but I'm not really sure. I wish a crack team of husky, mysterious gentlemen could tell me what to think!" WELL WE ARE THOSE GENTLEMEN. Download this podcast to literally hear us talk about the NGP for a length of time best described as "a while". Then, then, Andi and Ian talk far too much about Bulletstorm, and Sean explains why he loves Magicka even though it took him 40 minutes of faffing around before he could actually play the ruddy thing. After that we tackle your incredible questions, and someone makes the mistake of mentioning Gamecrush, sending Owen into a blind rage. Here is the video he mentions, if you're interested. Which you should be. Seriously though, we got some excellent questions this week, so cheers very much for sending them in, and we hope you enjoy hearing us answer them. ExplicitPodcast 61 – Duke Nukem For Everything | FINALLY. Sorry. This is our Christmas/New Year episode. Recorded late, edited late, and published late. Still, now you can use it to extend your festive cheer well into the new year! Even though it is only very vaguely Christmassy. Because the podcast was basically loads better when there were four of us on it, we've drafted new DZ recruit Owen Grieve to join us on the show. We like him, and we think you'll like him too. He's got a Geordie accent, so you can easily tell him apart from Sean, Andi and Ian's supposedly identical voices. We decided not to bother with the usual first half, and instead went mental answering loads of your stupid questions. So, deal with that. Ian's out of the country again at the moment, so we're not sure when the next recording will be, but keep your peepers on our Twitter feed for the latest news. About the podcast. And little else. ExplicitPodcast 60 – Thread of the Warp | Right, very quick blurb while we gear up for tonight's recording of the very special Christmas special edition podcast special. This episode took ages to edit because of SPECIAL GUEST and filthy PR man, Sean Bamberger. For the most part he sounds like he's doing the podcast whilst blow-drying his hair, which might actually be the case, because PR men are very particular about their hair. Anyway, we talk about these things: - Andi's got a Windows Phone 7 phone! - Sean's been playing Burnout Need for Speed: Most Wanted! - Other Sean's just played a Katamari game for the first time ever and his eyes have fallen out! And then we do loads of listener questions, and it's all great. The next episode should be upon you on Christmas morning, which is great news for those of you who've recently found that all your loved ones are either dead or hate you. Kidding! Stick it on while you have Christmas dinner, or while you're busy feigning appreciation for gifts you never wanted. After all, it can't be any worse than Christmas TV. Can it? It can! So, enjoy him while he lasts. Ladies. THIS EPISODE WE TALK ABOUT THESE THINGS HERE: - Bizarre Creations! - A game called Call of Duty: Black Ops that you might have heard of! - Dog's Life! - The UnderGarden! - Jedward! - Egg! ExplicitPodcast 58 – BUMCASTLE | You there! Do you like videogames? What about soft drink discussions? Or jokes about bums? Well sir, if you said "Yes!" to any one of those, you've come to the right place! For this episode of the DarkZero podcast features not one, not two, but all three of the items listed above, all for the price of an hour and a half of your time that you will absolutely never ever get back! But what else does this marvellous package contain? READ ON! - Discussions about Vanquish, Fallout: New Vegas, and Deadly Premonition. - More Minecraft, obviously. - Have people stopped buying music games? - Some guff about unnecessary sequels. - Idiocy. Half of this, by the way, was vicariously supplied to us by you, via your excellent questions. You are all beautiful, and nobody can take that away from you. For those who've not submitted questions before, do keep an eye on the DarkZero Twitter account and send us your moronic crap. We will answer anything. Anything. ExplicitPodcast 57 – Straight through the Sphinx | HI! Another podcast episode. We told you we were back. This episode's big special thing is Ian's frontline reportage from Comic Con, wherein he bags an interview with Sandy Lockie and Peter Collier from Bizarre Creations. The interview is ostensibly about the upcoming 007 Blood Stone, but we promise you've not heard an interview quite like this before. Put it this way: people hoping to actually find stuff out about the game may be disappointed. On the up, Ian doesn't do his atrocious fake American accent this time. "Certainly!" Either side of that, you've got all this rubbish: - Kirby's Epic Yarn - A Shadow's Tale - Marvel Vs Capcom 3 - Enslaved: Odyssey to the West Plus a load listener questions -with answers!! - which include some stuff about Gran Turismo 5, and a bit where Sean gets Stephen Colbert mixed up with Glenn Beck. It's great! Join us next time, and remember to keep an eye on the Twitter feed to see when we're next recording and assault us with questions. It's a bit dull if you don't, to be honest. Ta-ra! (we haven't played it we just talk about it!!!!) - Monster Hunter!!! - Some shitty sports games or something!!!!! - Deadly Premonition!!!! - Halo bloody Reach!!!!!! And then, then, more of your questions get answered. They're even more awful than usual, so thanks for those.* As a special bonus middle bit, Ian did a load of recordings at the big Halo Reach launch in New York. Don't ask us where his weird pseudo-American accent came from, but do feel free to get in touch making fun of him. Join us next time, where you can hear an interview with some lovely men from Bizarre Creations that will probably cause them to lose their jobs. Or cause Ian to lose his tourist visa, at least. CHEERS! *(Seriously though, thanks. They're the only clue we get that anyone is listening, after all.) RSS Feed | Download mp3 | iTunes | 13 10 10 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitPodcast 55 – Hooker, jacket, trainers. | UH-OH. We've done another one. And we haven't even got the decency to be ashamed of it. THIS EPISODE: - Singularity! - Splinter Cell: Conviction! - More iPhone shite! - Inappropriate language! - Lots of brilliant listener questions - with rubbish answers!!!! - No guest artwork, so some of Sean's phoned-in 'retro' lettering! Usual rules apply. If you like us, please tell literally everybody. Or put a review on iTunes. If you don't like us, don't worry. It just means you're not awful. Thanks for all the listener-input, as always. And thanks for listening, obviously. You are all basically incredible. Ta-ra! RSS Feed | Download mp3 | iTunes | 28 7 10 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitPodcast 54 – Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes | YES IT'S BEEN AGES WE ARE VERY SORRY. Still, you must be used to it by now. And if not, you probably gave up on us a while ago, and buggered off to listen to Weekend Confirmed or something. This episode kicks off - a little World Cup joke, there - with Andi and Ian sharing some semi-important news, followed by us talking about a load of old games that nobody cares about. Oh, and Hideo Kojima, who everyone cares about. After that, we do listener questions, with most (possibly all) of them coming from PhilWal. ATTENTION PHILWAL: We love you. In the third bit, you can hear our belated thoughts about E3 2010. You can probably tell from the artwork (courtesy of Jamegg) who we thought won the annual press conference battle. Although that's not much of a reveal, since pretty much everyone agrees that Nintendo knocked it right out of the park this year. Still, the latter half of the podcast is literally rammed with our idiotic thoughts on the matter, whether you like it or not. If you find yourself wondering how old the recording is, listen out for PhilWal's World Cup question. It dates the recording considerably. See you next week (fortnight (month))!!!!!!! ExplicitPodcast 53 – Late, again. | We are so amazing at this podcasting thing. Give us an episode where it is almost entirely vital that we get it uploaded before a major gaming event, and you can absolutely guarantee we'll get it up on time. Give or take a few days. Anyway, here's our mega pre-E3 podcast where we make some E3 predictions, which may or may not have been right. We're not sure what we predicted, and we'll be damned if we're listening to the bloody episode to find out. It'll show up on our MSN statuses, and people will think we're weird. As JamEgg's incredible artwork has no doubt already told you, this episode's first half is dominated by chat about Red Dead Redemption and Split/Second, with a bit of Blur for good measure. After that, the frankly superior latter half consists of us trying to answer your questions, and failing. Thanks for listening, as always. Join us next time when we'll probably talk less about what we've been playing, and answer more of your questions. Because the latter tends to be funnier. Ta! ExplicitPodcast 52 – Super Skate Fighter 34 | Do you like Skate 3 or Super Street Fighter IV? We bloody well hope so, because the majority of the first half of this episode is dedicated to those two games. But if you've got rubbish taste, that's fine - just skip the first 35 minutes, because it gets a bit more interesting after that. For one, we attempt to give away a copy of Tatsunoko vs Capcom on the Wii (all entries to podcast [at] darkzero.co.uk, as usual). After that, we've got Ian's interview with Hussain Sheikh, who was the lead effects programmer on Black Rock's excellent Split/Second. And once all that's done with, we answer more of your brilliantly idiotic questions. Thanks for continuing to send them in, as they're basically responsible for the most entertaining part of the show. Oh, and you'll notice we've got some rather swanky artwork this week. You can thank the ludicrously-talented Jamegg for that. Can, and should. Join us next time, when we'll possibly talk about some games you're actually interested in, and do our big E3 predictions which will inevitably turn out to be utterly wrong. Bye! ExplicitPodcast 51 – Buggerman | It's late, again. Sorry. This was recorded over a week ago, then Skate 3 came out and ruined everything, so Sean didn't get around to doing the edit. UNTIL NOW. Andi's absent, for reasons we explain at the beginning of the podcast. So you've just got Sean and Ian this week, chatting an endless amount of rubbish about Monster Hunter Tri, the XBLA/PSN release of After Burner: Climax, and Square-Enix's fish-'em-up Nier. We avoided talking about Super Street Fighter IV, because it seemed rude to talk about it without Andi. That'll be next week. In considerably more exciting news, we've got a special middle section devoted entirely to Ian's interview with Ged Talbot, lead producer on Bizarre Creations' Blur, where they discuss a bunch of stuff including Ged's feelings towards the superficially-similar-but-actually-not-really Split/Second. After that, we answer some rather last-minute listener questions (thanks to the regulars for supplying them, as always), and say awful things about Andi because he was entirely powerless to stop us. The fat, disgusting misanthrope. Join us next week when we will no doubt talk an awful lot about Skate 3 and Super Street Fighter IV, and we'll include Ian's interview with Split/Second developers Black Rock Studios, where he probably asks them how they feel about Blur. Seriously, please join us. Or we might kill ourselves! BYE. RSS Feed | Download mp3 | iTunes | 22 5 10 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitPodcast 50 – Triple WanXXX | WHOAH! We're back, and we're going to tell you all about the bloody Skate 3 demo until your ears bleed, and you're going to like it, because quite frankly it's all you scum deserve. No, seriously though - if you've no interest in Skate 3, then do feel free to skip the first 23 minutes. We won't hold it against you. Although you should listen to the very first bit, because we're running our very first anti-competition. Basically, thanks to all the competitions we've run over the last few months, we've got a lot of readers' postal addresses sat in our inbox. And we're going to send one of you a copy of the utterly woeful Prison Break: The Conspiracy on the PS3. Yeah, yeah, calm down. We know this is something you'd all rather avoid (it's a promo copy, see, so you can't even sell it on). So, all you need to do is e-mail us at the usual address (podcast [at] darkzero.co.uk) and tell us you don't want to receive the game. Anyone who's supplied us with their address in the past who fails to e-mail us will be entered into a prize draw, and the 'winner' will have to deal with the consequences. The terrible, terrible consequences. After the Skate 3 stuff, Sean talks about his involvement in Klik of the Month Klub #34. It is super-interesting. As for the rest of the episode, we answer a massive question from the entirely handsome Owen Grieve about games we consider 'required playing', and whether or not it matters that people who've just started playing games will have a narrower experience of our wonderful hobby. Then there's some other stuff. And it's all kind of funny. So, listen: RSS Feed | Download mp3 | iTunes | 2 5 10 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitPodcast 49 – Good of War | HIYA! Sorry it's been a while. We explain why in the podcast, though. Sort of. Andi's gone mad and started replaying Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion again, while Sean and Ian have been playing an awful lot of Pokémon HeartGold/SoulSilver (well, Ian has - Sean's just been messing with the Pokéwalker) and the brilliant Sleep Is Death. After boring you to tears about all of the above, we answer a bunch of excellent-as-always listener questions, ranging from our opinion on the way the current release schedules are looking (After Modern Warfare 2 scared everyone into delaying their games last year) to special gaming-related moments we have shared with our parents. Join us next week where we'll either talk endlessly about the imminent Skate 3 demo, or simply fail to do a podcast altogether because we're too busy playing the Skate 3 demo. We make no apologies in advance. Cheerio! RSS Feed | Download mp3 | iTunes | 14 4 10 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitPodcast 48 – JCaF | This episode is brought to you by Logitech, and the incredible power of nudity. It's competition time again, and we're giving away a copy of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed - Ultimate Sith Edition for the Xbox 360, as well as announcing the winner of the Lego Indiana Jones 2 competition. Exciting, no? If you're impatient, skip to 41 minutes in for that bit. Closing date for the Star Wars compo is the 2nd of April, and all entries are to be sent to podcast [at] darkzero.co.uk - as usual, you'll need to listen to the episode to find out what we want you to do for us in order to win the game. DANCE, PUPPETS. This week we talk a fair bit about the Just Cause 2 demo, Sean has a rant about the new Pokemon games (shut up, I'm not opening Character Map just to do the accent on the 'e'), Ian's been playing Street Fighter IV on the iPhone - and doesn't hate it - and a couple of other games get mentioned, but we've forgotten what they are already. Brilliant! In the latter stages of the episode we tackle more listener questions, and once again learn the importance of prepping our answers before the recording. We'll sort that out next time, we swear. Ta-ra! RSS Feed | Download mp3 | iTunes | 25 3 10 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitMass Effect 2 Special | WARNING: THIS PODCAST HAS SO MANY SPOILERS IT IS QUITE FRANKLY BEYOND A JOKE. If you haven't finished Mass Effect 2, you really mustn't listen to this episode, because we'll ruin the hell out of it for you. Basically, what we've got here is a bonus podcast episode where we talk about nothing but BioWare's latest sci-fi epic. Or rather, we try and talk about what we remember of it after having finished it over a month ago. But sometimes that can result in a more honest appraisal, right? In any case, we've been saying we'll do this for weeks, so there's no backing out now. Deal with it. Oh, and there'll be bonus points for anyone who can spot the bit where Sean and Ian had a minor falling-out and we had to remove about three minutes of awkward silence from the recording. Those of you who haven't played Mass Effect 2, calm down - we'll have another 'normal' episode out in a couple of days, where we announce the winner of the Indy Jones competition, and probably a load of other really great stuff happens. ExplicitPodcast 47 – Pokemaths | Yeah, we know that should be an 'é' in order to make the hilarious portmanteau a bit more obvious, but the front page doesn't like unusual characters. Feel free to complain, though - we will definitely care. This week, we've all been playing an awful lot of Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Because it's amazing. So amazing, in fact, that we waste about 25 minutes talking about it. So, y'know. Deal with that. There's a fun middle bit where Ian talks about the Bayonetta players' guide, which leads on to a discussion about players' guides in general, systems that videogames hide from the player, and why power-levelling is rubbish. After that, we do our best to answer our listeners' questions - thanks for those, as always - and are reminded that we haven't actually given an opinion on BioShock 2 yet, which also gave us an excuse to use the brilliant artwork of regular listener Chris Lees. If you want to enter last week's competition, there's still time, and details can be found in last week's post. We'll be picking the winner at about 9pm tomorrow (15th of March), so HURRY UP. And that's about it for this week. Thanks for listening, and we'll see you all next week. Or thereabouts. Cheerio! RSS Feed | Download mp3 | iTunes | 14 3 10 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitPodcast 46 – Ian’s Obsession | Whoah! Another podcast! It's almost like we're doing them on a regular basis again, or something. It's competition time again at DZ Towers, as we're now desperately trying to shift a copy of Lego Indiana Jones 2 for the Xbox 360. The competition details are at the start of the podcast, so you've not got the excuse of getting bored 20 minutes in and missing it. Send your entries to the usual address - podcast [at] darkzero.co.uk - before the 15th of March, and the best one wins the game. And what do we want you to send us? Well, you'll have to bloody listen to find out, YEAH? This week, Ian explains why he's playing Skate 2 more than ever, with the sequel just a few months away. Sean's been playing a load of iPhone rubbish, and tells us why he doesn't really like Plants Vs Zombies. Andi is entirely absent for the first half of the episode, but those who appreciate his particular brand of tedium will be pleased to hear that he's in the second bit, where we discuss Sean's assassination of an entire development studio, and why you all need to stop giving Michael Pachter a hard time. And it's not just because he was kind enough to come on the podcast last year. There's also some stuff about Ubisoft's draconian DRM, the X10 event, and the utterly ridiculous videogame BAFTA nominations. Plus, we answer a load of your questions, and some of them were particularly good this week. So, hurry up and listen to us talk, because we are bloody fascinating. And we'll see you next week. Hopefully. RSS Feed | Download mp3 | iTunes | 3 3 10 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitPodcast 45 – Listener questions special | Oh God. We're sorry it's been so long. This episode was actually recorded about three weeks ago, but a number of things that happened that prevented Sean from completing the edit. Those things include, but aren't limited to, the release of Mass Effect 2, and a near-death brush with the almighty NOROVIRUS. But all is well once again - we've all finished Mass Effect 2 (twice, in some cases), and Sean's poo is now totally solid again. Except when he drinks too much Fentimans Cola, but that's his own fault. Anyway, this episode is a listener questions special, so brace yourselves for that. Next week we'll be mercilessly caressing Mass Effect 2's every curve, announcing the winner of the Wolverine competition (remember that?), and launching the next one. As always, fire your questions at the @DarkZeroUK Twitter account, or send them to podcast [at] darkzero.co.uk. Those of you waiting to have your questions answered, or your competition prizes posted - we haven't forgotten. Promise. Cheery-byes! ExplicitPodcast 44 – Russian Dolls of Murder | WE HAVE A WINNER. Congrats to Thomas Nichols for sending in the above MS Paint image, and thus bagging himself a copy of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 on the Xbox 360. The rest of you: wipe away those tears, because this week we're giving away X-Men Origins: Wolverine, again for the 360. COMPETITION TIME kicks off at 29:30, so skip forward to that if you can't bear to put up with our terrible voices for more than a few minutes. All entries to be sent to podcast [at] darkzero.co.uk, same as last time. And you don't even need to bother drawing us a stupid picture this week! Anyway, in the first half there's even more chat about Bayonetta and Demon's Souls, which could be a good or bad thing depending on how you feel about Bayonetta and Demon's Souls. Sean's been replaying Mass Effect in preparation for the sequel's imminent release, and we've all been playing the incredible Miner Dig Deep, which is basically the best game ever made. We answer more listener questions in the second half, which we then tie into some stuff about pre-order bonuses, special editions, and stuff. It's a bit messy, but good. If you're reading this before 10pm on the day it went up (25th of January), then you've still got time to send listener questions in via Twitter or the usual e-mail address. And make sure you get your competition entries in by the 1st of February, or we'll actually kill you. See you next week! RSS Feed | Download mp3 | iTunes | 25 1 10 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitPodcast 43 – Grace Jones’ Horse | It's TEDIUM WEEK here at DZ Towers, as the podcast kicks off with overlong discussions about the likes of Bayonetta and Demon's Souls. We reckon they both deserve it, though. You might not, but hey - that's what transport bars are for! Andi's also played Darksiders, and Ian's played the incredible Pixel Boarder, which is much better than any indie title on the 360 has any right to be. Especially when it only costs 240MSP. The second half starts at 39:30, and features more beautiful listener questions and deeply insightful news commentary. And some stuff about Ron Jeremy. Sorry. Join us next week when we announce the winner of the previous competition, and launch the next one. Remember to keep hammering us with questions, either at the @DarkZeroUK Twitter account, or at the usual e-mail address - podcast [at] darkzero.co.uk. Kisses! ExplicitPodcast 42 – Competition time! | Happy new year, fellow cretins! We're kicking off 2010 in the traditional style - by doing a run-down of our annual Videogames of the Year article, for those of you who are too lazy to just read the bloody thing. After the recording we sort of realised that, what with us doing regular podcasts these days, the tradition is now somewhat redundant (as in, you've heard us all talking about most of the games already), but for those of you who are new to the show it'll be a nice introduction to the sort of rubbish we tend to come out with. Or if you're one of the regulars who like to touch themselves in awful places whilst listening to our voices, you've now got over two hours of new material to work with. As for everyone else, calm DOWN - in the second part (around 44 minutes in), we do the listener questions segment, followed our very first GENUINE COMPETITION. No, we're not giving away The Ashes 2009, or Sean's copy of You're In The Movies without the camera. Sorry. But instead, we've got a 100% fresh, sealed copy of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 for the Xbox 360 to give away. Not only that, but we're gonna give away a game every fortnight for as long as we've still got stuff to give away. So, about two months, give or take. What's the catch, you ask? Well, there are a couple, the first one being the fact that you have to listen to the podcast to find out what we want you to do in order to win the game. It's easy though, promise. You don't even need to listen to the whole thing - the competition bit is at one hour and five minutes in, so just skip to that if you're impatient or greedy. All entries to be sent to podcast [at] darkzero.co.uk, deadline is the 18th of January. Remember to keep the questions, no matter how stupid, coming to the above e-mail address, or to our Twitter account, and thanks VERY VERY MUCH for listening. ExplicitPodcast 41 – A Very DZ Christmas | We three blokes, from DarkZero are, One with a beard, you'll find him in bars, One who's so white, you can see him at ni-ight, The other likes Batman far, too... Much, but hey, it's really grand, Has anybody seen Seth Bland? We talked too much about Far Cry 2, And now he's gone, and we're all screwed. Merry Christmas, all! It's Christmas day, and while we realise you should really have better things to do, we have literally killed ourselves to make sure this podcast goes up on the morning of the 25th. THINGS IN THE PODCAST: Sean's been playing Muramasa: The Demon Blade, which you might have heard being referred to as "the good Wii game that isn't MadWorld". Andi's been playing The Saboteur because it's BLOODY GOOD, and Ian's been slashing the hell out of everything on the remastered God of War 1+ 2 for the PS3. There's a quaint little chat about our fondest Christmas gaming memories, and we once again grit our teeth and answer a bunch of listener questions (as always, thanks for sending them in). There's another novelty intro and a sort-of novelty bit in the break, and we're back to telling rubbish jokes and swearing a lot because Pachter's not here to make us feel faintly ashamed. We genuinely hope you all have an entirely decent Christmas - or, if you don't, then we hope our warblings will go some way towards making it a bit less dull/painful/horrific. Cheerio! ExplicitPodcast 40 – The Pachter Factor | This one's a bit of a milestone, boys. Not only is it the 40th episode, but we've actually got a special guest, and he's kind of bloody famous, if you like your videogames. (And if you don't, thanks for the interest, but why are you here?) Yes, this week we're joined by games industry analyst Michael Pachter. As some of you may recall, we said some rather harsh things about the guy a few months back, and he caught us red-handed. Several months (and grovelling apologies) later, we managed to coax him into making an appearance on the podcast. Those of you expecting the usual idiotic humour might be a little disappointed, as having a special guest means we're all on our best behaviour. But those of you who occasionally see sneery news stories about Pachter's out-of-context quotes might stand to learn a thing or two about what the man really does for a living. We follow the usual structure - one half where we discuss the games we've been playing this week, and a second half where we put listener questions to Michael (thanks again for those, incidentally) and discuss a few recent developments that took our interest - particularly the recent Spike Videogame Awards, and John Riccitiello's recent comment that he thinks paid-for DLC is an effective way of turning pirates into paying customers. Catch us next week for the ULTRA DARKZERO CHRISTMAS SPECIAL PODCAST. Which may or may not be that special. We'll see. It'll be up on Christmas morning, anyway. So feel free to play it while you're sat eating Christmas dinner with your family. They'll love you for that. Cheers! RSS Feed | Download mp3 | iTunes | 20 12 09 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitPodcast 39 – Poobisoft | As you can see, we've got our grown-up hats on this week. Unfortunately, Skype-related issues in the first half of the podcast result in some rather one-sided discussions - as it turns out, it's difficult to give feedback or criticism on what someone is saying when you can't actually hear what they're saying most of the time. Basically, Ian talks about Assassin's Creed 2 for about ten minutes, then Sean talks about The Saboteur for another ten minutes, then Andi talks about iPhone games for ten minutes, then Sean and Andi talk about the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 beta. The second half, however, features the usual idiocy you've come to expect, helped by the fact that we answer a bunch of listener-questions (thanks very much for sending those in, by the way) with mostly utterly ridiculous answers. We then discuss EA CEO John Riccitiello's recent comments about not churning out endless rubbish every year, and Ian points out some rather underhand tactics that Ubisoft have employed to get you to buy their games. It's almost enough to make you feel bad about purchasing Far Cry 2. ALMOST. As I write this, we're preparing to record the next podcast with Michael Pachter as a special guest. So, make sure you listen next week, because lord knows he'll be more interesting than we could ever be. Cheerio! RSS Feed | Download mp3 | iTunes | 13 12 09 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitPodcast 38 – No Maddie jokes [Modern Warfare 2 special] | If you're reading this, there's a 99.999999% chance you've played, and finished, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. You already know it's great, and there's that controversial bit in it, and a bunch of other stuff. Thus, this podcast is utterly rife with spoilers - including a couple for the end of Far Cry 2, for it is the yardstick by which all games must be measured, and inevitably judged to be vastly inferior. The first half focuses on the single-player game, while the second (spoiler-free) half deals with the multiplayer. I've got a horrible feeling we totally neglected to mention the excellent Spec Ops mode, so expect some words about that next week. Even if you don't have time for the whole episode this week, at least check out the special intro. We're a bit too proud of it. Thanks for listening, as always, and we will see YOU next week. ExplicitPodcast 37 – Colonic irrigation, with lasers | Late, isn't it? BLAME SETH. Certain comments made during the episode date the recording considerably - in fact, it was recorded on the night that Modern Warfare 2 came out. Except none of us had actually played it at that point, so instead you've just got a load of waffle over the pricing issues. Again. But we promise it's different this time. But before that, there's all this rubbish: - Seth doesn't like Halo: ODST, Sean and Ian declare that he must have some kind of mental disorder that renders him immune to the charms of exploding bridges. - Ian has finished The Ballad of Gay Tony, and hilarious jokes about gays ensue. - Everyone goes a bit mad talking about iPhone games. Sorry. Then there's some stuff about Uriel Septim's hair, guns that shoot swords, and God knows what else. Should be entertaining, though. As always, thanks for your continued support and feedback. Join us next time for a Modern Warfare 2 special, where you can hear our surprisingly tasteful response to the infamous airport level, and a bunch of other stuff. It's GOOD. ExplicitPodcast 36 – Hallowe’en Beast | By way of an apology for last week's absence, we've got a MEGA SORT-OF HALLOWE'EN SPECIAL for you this week. But be warned: the show's about twice as long as usual, so we hope you've got a long train journey lined up. That, or a really, really long poo. After our usual chat about what we've been playing (Borderlands, Dragon Age, Tekken 6, and some other rubbish), we throw in a recording of Sean attempting to play Dead Space with (hopefully) entertaining results. Sadly he never actually screamed at any point, but there is a lot of fear-swearing. In the final section we share our thoughts about the recent Eurogamer Expo, complete with interviews and recordings made live at the event. We almost sound a bit professional at a couple of points. It's a bit weird. Join us next week, when we really should have some thoughts on Modern Warfare 2, but none of us will because we haven't had chance to buy it yet, and Sean's 360 has red-ringed. Oh, and the artwork will make sense when you listen to the podcast. Maybe. Love you! x RSS Feed | Download mp3 | iTunes | 12 11 09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Excellent
A perfect mix of funny conversation and very informative and informed gaming news and opinions, the podcast is split into two easily listenable chunks. It's entertaining throughout, with each reviewer gets their own chances to speak about games ranging from the newest demos to old favourites which makes it at once personal, but never irrelevant to the listener. Highly recommended!
A must for all the family
