CleanJerry Lewis In London Part 1 | Listen to the podcast by pressing the button above. Steven Alan Green tells the story of bringing Jerry Lewis to London. Along with Jeremy Kramer. And another Union song from Robin Roberts.Steven Alan Green became an early advocate of the London comedy scene and was responsible for introducing many American acts to the British circuit, most notably through his production of three "High on Laughter" charity galas during the early years of the new millennium. As we shall hear at one of these galas a temporarily infirm Jerry Lewis was unable to go on, spurring the creation of Green's 2003 one-person show, I Eat People Like You For Breakfast. His recent one-person shows have received attention from such publications as Time Out London, the Evening Standard, The Scotsman and The Guardian. He has also done a considerable amount of voice-over work, most notably a series of spots for the UK's Paramount Comedy Channel which culminated in Green's on-air hosting of a weekend South Park marathon in late 2006. | 4 11 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

CleanBarry Crimmins Political Satirist | Listen to the Barry Crimmins episode of our podcast by hitting the play button right above. Air America Radio writer and correspondent, internationally renowned political satirist and author of the acclaimed Seven Stories Press book Never Shake Hands With A War Criminal helped bring the Boston Comedy scene into the modern age when he founded two of Boston's most fabled clubs: The Ding Ho and Stitches. Such acts as Steven Wright, Paula Poundstone, Bobcat Goldthwait, Kevin Meaney, Jimmy Tingle and many, many others cut their comedic teeth in the rooms Crimmins started and at shows he produced. The Boston Herald's Robin Vaughn's review of one of Barry's shows included a concise Boston Comedy history lesson. "In 1979, Crimmins, a politically minded comedian from upstate New York, started booking Boston's brightest, brashest young wits into the Ding Ho, a seedy Chinese restaurant in Inman Square. The club, run for and by comedians, was an unpedigreed underdog, but broke conventions of the day in paying its performers reasonable fees and maintaining Crimmins' comedy booking standards. He was hell-bent on originality and unforgiving of plagiarism. It was boot camp for the best comics in Boston and some of the most successful standups in the country. " According to that same Vaughn review, Crimmins hasn't lost any prowess as a performer. "To his old crowd, Crimmins is the patron saint of original, creative comedy in Boston and a brooding ideologue. His wit is as sharp as his sense of social justice, which has been known to eclipse a joke or two. But his hour-plus show, 'Chicken Soup for the Vegetarian Soul', served as a persuasive example of what intelligent stand-up comedy, politically themed or otherwise, can be." After helping jumpstart Boston comedy, Barry left production to concentrate on performing. In short order he gained attention as one of the top political satirists in the country. He has made countless television appearances on everything from The NBC Nightly News to The HBO Young Comedians Special to The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. He has recorded two CD's: Strange Bedfellows on A&M and Kill the Messenger on Green Linnet. His writings appear regularly in the Boston Phoenix as well as several other publications. He was a staff writer for the syndicated Dennis Miller Show and has toured in performance with Billy Bragg, Jackson Browne, Utah Phillips, Michelle Shocked, Steven Wright, Dar Williams and numerous others. This show was edited by Ben Schultz. | 3 11 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitTracy Morgan & The 1st Ammendment | Ralph Nader documentarian Steve Skrovan discusses the life and times of Ralph Nader and the making of his movie “An Unreasonable Man.” David’s thoughts on Tracy Morgan. Plus “What Are White People Up To.” With Laura Kightlinger, Melissa Villasenor, Kevin Rooney and Tina Dupuy. “An Unreasonable Man” traces the life and career of political activist Ralph Nader, the founder of modern consumer protection. The film examines Nader's advocacy for auto safety features, such as federally mandated seat belts and air bags, as well as his rise to national prominence following an invasion of privacy lawsuit against General Motors. It also examines the formation of independent advocacy groups (termed "Nader's Raiders") during the 1970s; organizations which carried out independent research on various federal agencies, such as the Federal Trade Commission and the Food and Drug Administration. Over the next thirty years, the film argues, Nader "built a legislative record that would be the envy of any modern president." The second half of the film traces Nader's shift to a grassroots form of organizing focused on citizen power, including his eventual disillusionment with the two-party system following the rise of Reaganism. In assessing Nader's effect as a third party candidate, the film examines censorship in the presidential debates as well as Nader's disputed role as a "spoiler" in the 2000 presidential election. The film makes use of interviews with current and former members of Nader's Raiders, including Joan Claybrook and Robert Fellmeth, as well as politicians and political analysts such as Phil Donahue, Pat Buchanan, and Eric Alterman. It takes its name from the George Bernard Shaw quote, "The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man." | 14 6 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

CleanTom Hayden Part Three | From 1962's Port Huron Statement to 2010's Peace and Justice Resource Center Tom Hayden has dedicated his entire life to exposing the real motives behind wars and working to end them. Many consider him the single most important figure of the 1960s student movement. One of the Chicago 8 as well as a founder of the SDS, Tom has carried the spirit of the 60s well into the 21st century working for peace, ending overseas sweatshops and animals rights. Getting labeled a radical did nothing to damage Tom Hayden's reputation here in Southern California where he served in the state legislature for nearly twenty years. Most striking is Tom's utter contempt for cynicism even as America's involvement in Afghanistan approaches a decade. Today's conversation begins with overwhelming polling that indicates Americans have grown weary of war. Tom Hayden can be read every day at TomHayden.com. His books include the Tom Hayden reader. His newest book, The Long Sixties: From 1960 to Barack Obama, is available from Paradigm Publishers and book retailers near you. | 4 12 10 | Free | View In iTunes |

One of the great American success stories, Tom Hayden went from 60s radical to serving in the California state legislature for nearly twenty years. He publishes The Peace Exchange Bulletin covering America’s engagement in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iraq, as well as our wars on drugs and gangs, as well as the U.S. military responses to nationalism and poverty around the world. ExplicitKelly Carlin | Kelly Carlin in conversation. Growing up watching her father, George Carlin, become a counter-culture hero, inspired her to live an unconventional, yet creatively fulfilling life. As a child she was already showing her many sides and interests - from writing skits and doing imitations (her Ethel Merman was quite good for an eight year old) to having to foster wisdom beyond her years to navigate and survive the insanity of her parent's world of the 60s and 70s. She began her professional life in her teens working in TV for her mother and father on various shows for HBO, and continued in TV production throughout her twenties. In 1993, at the ripe age of 30, she graduated from UCLA, Magna Cum Laude, with a B.A. in Communications Studies. While at UCLA, Kelly discovered her voice as a writer, which lead her to a career in writing for film and TV with her partner and husband Robert McCall. During this time, Kelly also pursued her craft through less mainstream projects, including writing and performing her one-woman show abut her tumultuous childhood and her mother's recent death, Driven To Distraction in 2000. In 2001 after two decades in the entertainment business, Kelly stepped away to get a new perspective, and received her masters in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate institute in 2004. She studied mythology, Jungian psychology and the intersection of art and the sacred. With her new found take on "the business," her life and the world, Kelly knew that she wanted to deepen her exploration of the big questions and themes of life through her writing, performing and teaching. She presently writes and performs personal essays, interviews legendary comedians for Laugh.com's On Comedy CD series, teaches a class on living the creative life, and is writing her memoir which will explore her journey from living in the shadow to standing in her light. CleanMake A Fist For Morey | Starring Jeff Garlin and Carlos Alazraqui. In our first musical, Curb Your Enthusiasm’s Jeff Garlin returns from Afghanistan to talk about his shows for the troops and reveals that he’s Eddie Pepitone’s kid brother. Before Jeff can do his dance number Eddie stops the show to confront Jeff about stealing his birthright. Jeff storms off the stage broken hearted. Jim tries to get Jeff to come back on the show by paying a visit to his hotel room, and runs into the late great Morey Amsterdam played by Carlos Alazraqui. Jim soon learns that Jeff Garlin has become one of the world’s biggest heroin dealers. Jim tries heroin for the first time and is suddenly inspired to finish his concept album “Shooting Heroin In Outer Space.” The show comes to a complete halt when Morey says, “Blessed be the joke maker.” Jim becomes a huge success, and when Cliff The Security Guard tells David that Jim is now sleeping with David’s stalker David goes ballistic. When it becomes painfully obvious that David is no longer more popular than Jim, David’s OCD acts up and he refuses to stop cleaning. As Jim becomes more distant, David insists that Eddie patch things up with his baby brother Jeff Garlin. Eddie refuses. David takes matters into his own hands by paying a visit to Jeff Garlin’s hotel room where Morey Amsterdam and Jeff cure David of his OCD by getting him addicted to heroin. Heroin turns David into a rail thin, sexy comic who turns the podcast into a revolutionary arm of left wing radicals trying to overthrow the government. Eddie becomes concerned that the podcast is going downhill as David and Jim seem to spend more time with the monkeys on their backs than they do worrying about the podcast. Jim’s monkey taunts Eddie. Eddie decides to confront his baby brother and pays a visit to Jeff Garlin’s hotel room. Jeff and Eddie patch things up by sharing the pain of being second bananas. Then Morey and Jeff get Eddie addicted to heroin. Jim, Eddie and David now spend all their time sitting around shooting smack. Jim is concerned that David is concerned that he’s sharing dirty needles with the monkey on his back. Jim accuses Eddie of having a**l sex with the monkey on his back. Meanwhile Eddie turns into Hollywood’s biggest male model. But modeling career ends when he is attacked by heroin addicted humming birds. The podcast lays in ruins as Eddie lays at death’s door. Dr. Conrad Murray refuses to give Eddie heroin to ease the pain. The pentagon pays a visit to Eddie’s hospital room to inform him that he’s meddled with the New World Order by shooting all the heroin in Afghanistan. Jim, David and Eddie are told that if there is no heroin, there can be no war. And if there’s no war there’s no profit. Eddie, Jim and David promise not to do so much heroin to help keep the war in Afghanistan going. To all my fellow Poders, If you like comedy and a little bit of whats going on in the world? One of my favourite podcasts. David Feldman is one of the greats of comedy in my opinion and If you have never heard his work UK? ..
Love it
What can I say about this show, except that it's hilarious and informative. As someone, who has never had any interest in politics or current events, I'm surprised to say that this show has peaked my interest in them. Why? Because David and guests who range from all aspects of comedy - comedians, writers etc make these topics funny & interesting. Furthermore, I love David's non-PC humour & have also become a big fan of regular guest Frank Conniff & Jimmy Dore. Give the show a try.
