At the age of 16 he bought his first record player and vinyl records and his DJ career started. With homemade tapes of radio shows he tried to find those records with that specific sound he likes. From Detroit, Techno, House and club, you can find it all in his record collection... Changing to digital music, Mike also made the change to CDs and MP3s, but the love and touch of vinyl never disappeared. Working for a local radio station and taking a sound engineering classes in his hometown, his interest in producing music started, so last year Mike began producing under the name ‘Black Motif’. Producing on labels in Holland and abroad like Fatal Music and Cosmic Disco, there is much more to come. Just keep and eye on his Beatport site or Soundcloud for his latest releases. My early love of house was forged by listening to essential mixes and to live DJs such as Dick Johnson at Blackpool's 'Cotton Club' and the legendary Manchester Hacienda, Justin Robertson and Chemical Brothers at 'Cream' in Liverpool and many great DJs such as Alistair Whitehead at the amazing 'Feel' in Preston. I was inspired to get my own turntables and start mixing, playing at a few venues and parties around the Lancaster area. After returning from traveling in the late 1998, I met up with DeepTransmissions and a developed a love of even deeper house which manifested in regular nights out to see the likes of Kevin Yost, Kenny Hawkes, DJ Sneak, Terry Francis, Tyrant and Danny Tenaglia at clubs in London such as Space, Plastic People, Annexe, Home, Turnmills and later Fabric. Whilst this was all going on, I played a regular residency at the legendary 'Bar Vinyl' in London's Camden Town as well as co-promoting a regular night and DJing at nearby 'Bar Solo'. I have also since DJed at other venues in and around London including '93 Ft East'in Brick Lane and 'The Project' in Soho. Possibly some of my most legendary clubbing experiences have been in in Ibiza - Carl Cox on the terrace at Space .. BT and Oakenfold at Pasha, SvenVath at Cocoon. I like dubby grooves, mechanical but swinging rhythms, lush sounds with Electro, Detroit, Funk and Soul nuances with an underground feel. Some of my biggest musical influences are Sasha, Kevin Saunderson, MAW, Jon Digweed, Kenny Hawkes and C-Pen. This is just one shade of MonochromeSonics, where the light meets the dark... In 2004 he came to the decks, by passion for records, by pure pleasure to mix sounds, and to dig even more this vast universe which is electronic music. Same year he joined Team of the biffest French portal dedicated to electronic music: clubxtrem.net 2009 marked a double bend for Arobase. First of all from a collective point of view with the creation of the Association called "M2S" together with a group of friends, the organization of parties called “Minimal, Maximal: Scheissegal !”, and the beginnings of more massive projects for the year which follows. On a personal plan he played in more and more clubs and parties and begins to be known. At the end of 2009 he is the prize-winner of the Contest Nitebeat France 2010, and has the enjoyment to bring his sound for the first time in the mythical German club called "Universal DOG" with highly rated artists like Sven Väth, Magda, Gaiser, Oliver Koletzki, etc… His sharp, eclectic and festive sets begin to make noise and year 2010 will mark his surge so personal as collective with many dates in the region Alsace, whether it is in the highly-rated of the other regional DJ and also dates with artists more important such as Christopher Kah, Jonathann Cast, Marboss, etc… 2011 begins on hubcaps also, many "regional" requests, but also dates with more important artists like Spektre, David Carretta, Nomenklatur, etc… He assures during a time a residence for "Pop Eleganz" parties (well known private party organizer). He becomes also resident of "Flamme & Co", a highly trendy restaurant of Strasbourg. He is also the prize-winner of the Contest "Music Electronic Life" allowing him to play with Jona and Nutown Project, and he begins to be well-known in the rest of France. The trouble with some deep house mixes is that they can sometimes start off strong, but become a bit weak in the middle section. Well, that is certainly not the case with these mixes. They are strong and keep your attention from start to finish. Every track makes you want more. Absolutely fantastic!
