Disco Scratch Radio 79 Thursday 3rd May 2012 | Started off the show with a selection of new cuts tonight… some were going down OK in the chatroom, others got the gasface! You never know… I always try to break new music, some of the stuff I hadn’t even played myself so I was as blind as you guys… I quite like that though, cos it’s like I’m listening for the first time along with you lot… So we had the phone number on air and received a couple of voicemails that I dropped before the chatroom selection, including some cyberman shenanigans from TJ Fresh! Dropped a cut off the new EP Whirlwind D & Me are putting out also tonight, first exclusive play, also played the first worldwide airing of Pure Destructive Power from Hardnoise, many thanks to Gibo! So what else a gwaarn… all the usual crowd in the chatroom, the subject of the tracks from the chatroom was the overkill of MoD presence with poxy snipers, the biggest battleship in the UK fleet, HMS Ocean docked in the Thames and all these f*cking surface to air missiles all over the gaff, I mean come on, REALLY? That plus the fact I was iinstalling Turkish satelite for this dude this week and upon setting up the receiver in front of his non English speaking missus & 1 year old kid, you guessed it, mystery meat was playing the in and out game in full techniclolour… so, smut & destruction! quality old school hip hop
superb podcast. the Theory 77 one. is exceptional mix. as good as Krash Slaughta. a lot of old uk stuff in the other shows. Heroes of uK hip hop takeovers are great. just remember the uk is more than just England
The Dopest Hip Hop Show On The Radio
The Disco Scratch show is about as honest and perfect as you will ever get.
Broadcasting every Thursday evening 9pm - 11pm direct from the Hot Desk Of Villainy by the one and only mix-maestro, WAXER.
If you have never heard a Disco Scratch show before then let me sum it up for you.
Imagine you are at a virtual pub and on the jukebox is a constant stream of dope hip hop; new cuts as well as old boomin classics, news and views. This is playing in the background because on a Thursday night when it goes out LIVE then you will usually be in the Disco Scratch chatroom chewing the fat with other like-minded individuals. Sort of like a hip hop Cantina, if you will.
I don't mind saying that I try to catch every show because it is just that good.
And each and every last Thursday of the month is a special Takeover Show from the Ageing B-Boys Unite! Crew which I think is probably even better than a promise of a private one-to-one with The Real Roxanne, a 6-pack of Red Stripe and tube of Johnsons' Baby Oil.
A true gem of a show
In a veritable sea of mediocrity, Disco Scratch shines like the gems on Rakim's chains.
Every week (Thursday 9-11) Waxer plays the very best that the last thirty odd years of hip hop (in its widest sense) has produced. That in itself makes this a must listen every week, but when you throw in interviews with legends of the UK Scene and ordinary punters (some of who's stories and experiences I found even more interesting), you have audio dynamite. One highlight that I particularly remember was the No Sleep Nigel interview, fascinating.
As already mentioned, once a month Repo136 presents the Ageing B-Boys Unite takeover show (such craft put into this this one, Repo might well be a heading to Steinski territory) and the Heroes of UK Hip Hop takeover.
Thanks to the wonders of podcasts too, you don't have to wait until Thursday 9pm for you Disco Scratch, tea and biscuits action.
