Regeneration Required

Like The Doctor, there have been many incarnations of the WhoCast, it's best period being when the podcasts originator Paul Wilson was presenting.

Nowdays the show is fronted by Tony Gallichan and Dave Keep. As presenters they come over as nice guys who are very knowledgable and enthusiastic about their subject, but unfortunatly way too often, they do have a tendancy to ramble, and to this listeners ears, they are not interesting or funny enough to pull it off. Maybe more of a structure to the podcast and some post production editing would help.

On a more positive note, there are occasionaly some interesting guests (recent ones include Tom Baker, Victor Pemberton, Anneke Wills, Stephen Gallagher) and to be fair, Tony and Dave work much better when they have an interviewee. These would be the episodes I would seek out, but I do find the rest unlistenable. For now I will stick with Podshock as my chosen audio fix of Doctor Who and will maybe check out the Who Cast again at some later stage.

In need of a regeneration

I've listened to the WhoCast for a few (cat break) years now and I think the show is really in need of a new style/format. (cat break) Instead of two older guys rambling, make it (cat break) a structured, round table discussion with four younger people ie. below the age of 50! (cat break) I like the fact that they discuss both the new series and the classic but it (cat break) goes all over the place for most of the podcast with too many in jokes and references. (cat break)

If the Doctor can be young and strong, so can the WhoCast. And if you don't get the cat break references, listen to a podcast and count how many times Tony's cats are mentioned. It gets really annoying.

No longer for me.

Enjoyable show although it does sail too close to the wind to warrant a clean tag for me. I won’t be letting my children (8 and 10 and 13) listen any more after the 2011 Christmas ep – not because of the completely irrelevant revelation at the end, but because of the gags about cats rear ends and self-pleasuring within the first ten minutes. Along with the increasing use of mild swear-words, the shift to smutty humour is unfortunate especially as the show has always been so broad in its appeal in the past. Perhaps its just me, but I want to hear opinion about Doctor Who, not hear two gentlemen present their bawdy humour that deviates from the point so often than it’s just tiresome. I'm sure many may like this style, but unfortunately I’m not one of them. There are also prolonged references to people the hosts know but no-one else will. These parts of the show just baffle me. There are also several comments made about seeing Dr Who early. This rankles, not because the hosts get to see the shows early, but because the fact is repeated so often. I think just reviewing the episodes would make this a better podcast.

Thanks for all the time you have spent on the show, but this one is no longer for me.
