ExplicitEpisode 108: Say Award Part 1 | Welcome to the first of a 2 part special dedicated to the Say Award (Scottish Album of the Year)! Halina will be introducing the bands and playing her favourite track from each nominated album. For those of you that don’t know about the award it is the first year and the first of its kind in Scotland. 100 judges chose 5 albums and ranked them in order of preference. They were then shortlisted to 20 based on a points system and now there are 20. There will be a public vote and once completed this will reduce the list further to 10 albums. A panel will then decide on the winner. The winner received a prize of £20,000 and each runner up gets £1000 each. This podcast explains the reasons why we think this award is vital, overall it is the music that is important so please listen! Louis Abbott is one of the most talented musicians that Scotland has produced and sometimes better late than never. The exhibition will run from December 4th – December 11th; however we will be kicking things off with a fantastic live launch on the evening of December 4th. This will include special live music performances and refreshments not to mention the abundance of artwork that will be on show! The aforementioned Barras Courtyard (www.barras-new.co.uk (http://www.barras-new.co.uk/)) is beginning to establish itself as something vitally important in Glasgow and to prove this it houses two notable vintage retailers. Made In The Shade and Che Camille have both opened up shops in this breathtaking space. We will be transforming the courtyard into something visually stunning at night for Eclectic Peel and we hope you can come and be part of this! Esperi will be performing a very eclectic set with some special surprises and will have the aid of Mal Young and RM * 3D visuals to round off the evening. This is not to be missed. We are also very lucky to have the support of anCnoc Highland Whisky and Campari on the evening. It is a privilege to have the support of these two wonderful brands. We have to stress that this is a non-profit event and something that we have done for free.
