Having made its name in the belly of the minimal and tech house movements Poker Flat is more than that, it’s a label of many facets. Bug harnesses a passion for all shades of house, making a point to look back as well to the future for his label’s projects. Podcast 162: Kris Wadsworth | We’ve got something super special to hype the return of the mighty Hypercolour Records to Room Three on the 11th February; Kris Wadsworth has taken to the decks for us in this very rare mix. What’s more it turns out that this is the 10th year of ‘Kris Wadsworth the Recording Artist’ – so 10 years on from his first track being pressed to wax he takes us on a journey exclusively through his back catalogue of the tracks that shaped his career. Saying ‘deep house’ might go some of the way to describing Kris’s output, but you need to add in a fair whack of jack and a few twists to get closer to describing what’s made him suitable kin for Alex Jones, Cedric Maison and Shenoda in the Hypercolour Room. Along with this sonic journey through Kris’ musical ventures we also got to enjoy spending some time in the head space of the Detroit based producer and learned to leave any semblance of seriousness at the door as we chew the fat about what’s cool about London, putting out records and not talking about your studio set up. Hey Kris, we love the mix thanks for doing something so special for us – is it a regular thing for you to record your friends phone conversations? You guys are sincerely welcome. It’s an honor, you know, for real. I never do mixes for anyone really and like, I almost didn’t do it because my hard drive failed and I lost some software. Ask my agents and my friends, I was kind of freaking out and wondering if you guys would be offended if I couldn’t do it. But anyways, I got it together and was semi-professional for once. About phone calls: I don’t know but you can call me and find out: +1 313 863 ****. When a guy named Menjo’s answers, say: “Hi, this is fabric Nightclub in London and we wanted to tell you that you’re doing a really good job representing the Detroit club scene.” Keep it real, boys… The mix is celebrating 10 years of Kris Records on wax – can you tell us about the first time? This first record here on this mix was the first time. It was really exciting, of course. You know, the other side of this record was also a first for another producer known as Anonym. So that guy, this other dude who tells anyone he gets a chance to that he “taught me everything I know,” and myself did our first tracks on it. It was neat because it was my first track published, you know? But the guy on my side switched my track name on it with his because he liked mine better, the mastering totally blows because they wanted to do it themselves, and my track on it sucks because I had no idea what I was doing. Other than that, it was really neat. It set the bar pretty low in terms of quality music from me, but it was also the first time someone erroneously compared me to some dude I had never heard of named Theo Parrish. A local Detroit DJ put it on a mix and told my young clueless ass that she backed it with a Kenny Dixon JR track, which of course, I had no idea about and had it explained that this was some sort of compliment (?). It was the beginning of a long line of people unfortunately calling me a house music producer and comparing me to old men that have really racist views about white people that I had never heard of. I hope they both read this and get pissed off at me, and by both, I mean those racist old men and the guys who did the record with me. How has your studio set up changed and developed over this time? Haha! What is a studio again? Oh yeah, that thing people take photos of and name all the pieces individually for Facebook Show Time and then when you go over their house, they don’t know how to use any of it? Or get jealous and want to call it quits because you crank on it like they wish they could? Those things, oh right. I had a bunch of different stuff over the years: A computer in my mom’s kitchen, a little better computer that I waited overnight in sub-zero temperatures to buy for sixty percent off on a Black Friday; all sorts of little machines | 5 2 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Podcast 161: Jus-Ed | The legend of Jus-Ed permeates throughout the house music community. He’s led the way to a renaissance in New York house music as a mentor, party maker and label boss. He’s helped the likes of Levon Vincent, Nina Kraviz and Fred P rise to prominence under the banner of his label, Underground Quality and he himself has been a voice of underground sounds, impassioning rawness and the real deal through his radio show on www.MyHouse-YourHouse.net. Resident Advisor call him ‘The Godfather’ of New York house yet somehow he holds down a full time job in his home town of Conneticut supporting his family in the mean time. We really could go on all day listing the various attributes of what makes Jus-Ed special but first and foremost it’s always been his talent as a DJ that’s got him to where he is today. Listen for yourself in this mix he’s given our blog ahead of his Room Three visit this weekend with Ethyl and Terry Francis. | 30 1 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Podcast 159: Human Life | “If Prince and David Gahan had a baby in Paris in 1990, that child might now be making music like this" – Guardian UK “This” meaning the work of LA-based trio Human Life, a.k.a. Matthew Wasley, Rachael Starr and Joshua Collins. Citing influences as diverse as The KLF, Depeche Mode, Happy Mondays and the classic Chicago house music label Trax Records, the trio produces catchy, potent electronic music with engaging vocals and strong song writing. Human Life’s sound combines the best of the underground and the overground without contriteness or awkwardness - and it’s one that’s already been catching the attention of French legend Alan Braxe, Radio 1’s Jaymo and Andy George, Grum, Aeroplane, Sasha, A-Trak, Crookers and even the late DJ Mehdi, who along with Riton played Human Life tracks on every date of their Carte Blanche tour. “It’s hard to describe because we make both house music that is aimed squarely at the dance-floor and also more accessible tracks that could be considered Pop music,” says Matt. “Really it’s all about combining melodic music with dance oriented elements.” Originally from Boston, Orange County and Chicago respectively, Matt, Rachael and Josh all now live in Southern California, with L.A nightlife providing another strand of influence in their dynamic sound. Their DJ sets show off their range of influences, from slow disco grooves to thumping house music, vintage techno coolness and everything in-between - as Matt explains “when we DJ we try to share a little bit of what Los Angeles sounds like to us”. 2010 and 2011 saw them play some standout gigs in New York’s legendary Webster Hall and Le Bain @ The Standard, L.A.’s number 1 nightspot Avalon, Neon Noise Project at XOYO (London)and Razzmatazz (Barcelona), with showcase spots at the prestigious In The City music conference (set up by Hacienda and Factory Records legend Tony Wilson) and WAD Magazines 10th Birthday (Paris). After releases on their own LIFEX Recordings, they found their smash ‘In It Together’ being played on music TV stations around the world with the video receiving over 300,000 views on YouTube. This global buzz caught the attention of various labels and was subsequently licensed to Defected Records and Sony Australia (One Love). The track also received a makeover from none other than the Godfather of house music, Frankie Knuckles, which resulted in a No.1 on Traxsource for 4 weeks and praise from BBC Radio 1’s Pete Tong who said “they don’t make ‘em like this anymore” live on air. Additionally, remix requests came in from Mason feat. Roisin Murphy, Roy Davis Jr., Plump DJ’s label Grand Hotel, Jump Jump Dance Dance and more, cementing their status as go-to remixers. With further releases forthcoming on Defected and Alan Braxe’s Vulture Music, a South American tour and the release of their debut artist album, Human Life are set to explode in 2012 after making a solid impression on the electronic scene during their launch. www.humanlifemusic.com | 15 1 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Podcast 158: Saytek (Live) | Joseph Keevill, also known as Saytek, cut his teeth on the tech house movement having had an integral role at Mr C's club, The End, throwing himself full heartedly into all aspects of a musical life. His early inspirations from Detroit techno and UK's IDM movements have melded into his own take on modern techno, brimming as it does with deep bass lines and punchy percussion. Keevill has also built up his own empire with his record label and party, Cubism, which is also the main outlet for his production. After finishing off 2011 with their 4th in their series of annual compilations, 'Cubists Volume Four', Saytek and co. are set to enter 2012 with a bang taking over Room Three for our first party of the year joining Terry Francis and inviting their own crew of artists. And so, today we officially kick off the new year on our blog with a freshly recorded live set from Saytek, provided to give you all a taste of the Cubism sound. Alongside that we get stuck into the ins and outs of the producer's story and his hard-earned success. Hey Joseph to start us off can you introduce yourself to our readers? Hello I am Joseph Keevill (AKA Saytek) and I will be performing live for you guys on the 7th of Jan in room 3 representing Cubism Records. Hope you are all well - had a great Christmas and have recovered from NYE nicely! How long have you been performing and making music under the name Saytek? I released my first 12" under the Saytek pseudonym around 10 years ago on Justin Drakes console recordings and I have been performing live as Saytek for about 7 years. How did you start out getting involved with music? Well I was a geeky kid who was interested in programming computers and for some reason I got interested in sound and early music technology at the age of 10. I was making bleeps on a computer and using a Tandy mixer, a Jen synth and a Roland TR606 drum machine to make music of sorts, recording my mum singing. I was totally obsessed with sound and manipulating it. When I was about 13 a friend introduced me to his older brother's acid house collection, Detroit techno and rave tapes I really loved this sound before I had even set foot in a club and was listening to it obsessively, so when I was old enough to blag my way in I was out clubbing every weekend, I totally immersed my self in the scene and all its trappings. I decided to study sound engineering and devote my life to music I spent my later teenage years putting on warehouse parties in London before working as a technician in clubs like Home and The End ... it was here I made connections to sign my first record. And who or what were your first influences - back when you started and also present day? My influences are vast and wide; when I was younger my dad listened to classical, Jazz and 60's rock. When I found my own tastes I was into Detroit techno, Acid, dub, 90s ambient and experimental music like Aphex twin and Square Pusher, it was when working at clubs I really discovered the underground house sound of the time which was tribal, electronic and tech house it was really fresh and was the perfect antidote to the big room trance by numbers sound that dominated the super clubs then, I suppose all these influences remain in my music today, rather than following the latest trends I like to blend what I like from today's sounds with music influenced by my long love affair with electronic music. When I make music I tend to go with the feeling, I really like to put my soul into it. You come across as a real hard worker, someone who's adapted to today's direct to fan engagement - it's something some artists embrace and others outright reject - what would you say to them? I do work very hard, mainly creating music, but also on self-promotion. As a live artist its really one of the only avenues I can take to get my live sets out there, I have made live albums in the past for the Zoo Project which did really well, but today I believe there is only a limited market for | 8 1 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Podcast 157: Alex Tepper | Alex Tepper is the power behind the throne. You may scratch your head upon hearing his name, but be damn sure you've heard some of the hundreds of releases that have been touched by his hands in almost 20 years in the business. Working behind enemy lines under a variety of pseudonyms or as collaborator to some of the biggest names in house music, his releases have had everyone from Pete Tong to Kevin Saunderson heaping plaudits on them. For someone who's only just skirting 30 it's pretty remarkable that he has such pedigree, but then Alex was something of a teenage prodigy. While most kids were happy to watch Grange Hill, skive off school and felt pen knobs on toilet walls, Alex was a super-keen schoolboy in a Birmingham studio providing hot beverages for everyone from ace reggae band Steel Pulse to hard rockers like Black Sabbath. But it was in Rich Bitch studios in Birmingham where he first discovered house music through two DJs Phil Dockerty and Adam Presdee. He cut his chops helping to programme releases for the Urban Hero label, feeding a growing obsession with New York mastermixers like Todd Terry and Masters at Work. "I remember going to the Sound Factory Bar in New York for Louie Vega's Underground Network night and it happened to be Barbara Tucker's birthday that night. D-Train were playing live (with Barbara ad-libbing), François Kevorkian was playing a party set of disco and hip hop in the basement and, of course, Louie in the main room. It was one of those magical New York nights." Although Alex's heart lay in New York, it was his unique take on that sound that produced hits like X-Presidents' Diamond Rings, which somehow became a UK garage hit ("I'm still scratching my head over that one," chuckles Alex). His partnership with Dockerty as Futureshock resulted in an array of stellar remixes – among them New Order, Chemical Brothers and St. Etienne – a label venture with Junior Boys Own and leading DJs falling over themselves to praise the pair. "Innovative dance music for a new era," praised Pete Tong, while a certain Mr. Tenaglia simply said, "What they're doing is so up my alley." Touring with Underworld was not to be sniffed at either. Since those crazy, heady days as part of the Futureshock juggernaut, Alex has been taking something of a backseat, though his workload has not eased up. Over the past few years, secreted away in his secret beat laboratory, The Dog House, in the heart of balmy Dalston, Alex has been providing the know-how for a variety of premier league DJs, collaborating regularly with Steve Lawler, Nic Fanciulli and a host of others, who've come to him for a sprinkling of Tepper magic with releases on Get Physical, Cocoon, R&S, Ovum and many others. Power behind the throne, see. But that's only one part of Alex's work. The other is as a solo artist and over the years, he's had a wildly diverse range of releases under a bewildering array of monikers (Alex In Wonderland, Rhythm'N'Vibe, Latino Circus, X-Presidents). Lately, under his own name he's had tracks out on Drumcode, Tiefschwarz's Souvenir, Rekids and one recently out on Nic Fanciulli's label Saved. "In many respects, I've got the best of both worlds. I get to collaborate with loads of really good DJs and those shared ideas inevitably flow back into the work I do on my own. It re-energises my solo stuff." He's not kidding. As his solo career gathers pace, the kings at the top of the game need to watch their seats. He's gunning for their crowns. 1. It's a definitive body of work that delves deep into the X-Press 2 psych and pulls out a monumental culmination of two year's worth of work that collides head long as it goes with some of the finest talent around including the likes of James Yuill, Roland Clark, Rob Harvey, Amber Jolene, Timo Garcia, Tim Deluxe and Analog People In A Digital World, yet another new page in the X-Press 2 book of 'All killer no filler' as they continue their unconventional quest to showcase new cutting edge sounds. A multitude of sonic adventures rolls out across the album which kicks off with the monster dance war cry of Doll (of Doll & The Kicks) on 'This Is War', to the dark and dirty dancefloor shaker 'Let Love Decide' featuring infamous house producer and vocalist Roland Clark, followed onwards by 'The Blast' featuring the haunting vocals of Rob Harvey (of The Music), big and brooding 'Get On You', to the rolling cosmic-esc vocals of James Yuill on 'Time', to the sultry 'Frayed Of The Light' with Timo Garcia featuring the zesty vocal talents of Amber Jolenne, to house purist's dream 'Lost The Feelin' with Tim Deluxe, all topped off by the epic 'Million Miles Away', a heady slice of deep house defying you not to dance. 'The House Of X-Press 2' brings to the table the meeting of two forward thinking minds set on making music strictly for dance floor hedonism ignited with pure but simple pleasure, creating straight up no frills epic bangers across the board. The House of X-press 2: So many nights and days and 25 years of being in and DJing at amazing clubs and parties are what inspires' X-Press 2 to keep doing what they do. It was the dance floor that told them to be DJs in the first place and the dance floor that inspired the early tracks that they made. X-Press 2 loved that whole going out and hearing all sorts of music in one night. DJs like Alfredo and Larry Levan were champions of this style of DJing and it was thanks to people like them that the boys were able to do what they have done over the years. The old guard are still an inspiration for their music, both as DJs and producers but they are constantly checking for new names who always come along and give things a slightly different slant on what's gone before. It's a combination of the old and the new that truly underpins X-Press 2's music nowadays. From listening to an old jazz album from the 60s next to a hot new track from someone like Feygin and can totally blow them away. This is what keeps X-Press 2 going into the studio and making the music that they do best. "All that we've ever wanted to do out of our music is to see people dance and get that empathy with the dance floor, knowing how a track makes us feel and seeing it have the same effect on 2000 people dancing as you play it." | 27 12 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Podcast 155: Timmy Trumpet | Fresh from mixing both MINISTRY OF SOUND and PACHA CD’s featuring his own ARIA chart smash hit ‘Tromba Ye Ye Ye’, Timmy Trumpet is currently touring Australia before he ventures back overseas to promote his new EP ‘Trrrumpet’. Aside from his multiple worldwide tours, including performances at Miami’s WMC, Ibiza’s Pacha and London’s Ministry of Sound, Timmy is the only DJ / Instrumentalist to make the ITM Top 10 DJ’s Australia wide, which has landed him residencies at clubs and festivals all over Australia including Sensation White, Summafieldayze, Future Music, Park Life, Creamfields, Good Vibrations and Stereosonic. Fashion label owner, club night promoter and a regular guest on the Stafford Brothers reality TV show on the Fox8 network, Timmy is now headlining the ‘must have’ list for DJs worldwide wanting to add a live element to their shows. Winning ‘Young Musician of the Year’ at age 13, and touring the world playing Jazz at 14, he is no stranger to the limelight. Timmy was recognised at an early age winning a scholarship to The Sydney Conservatorium of Music where he was tutored by Sydney Symphony Orchestra’s Anthony Heinrich. Within two years the talented protégée easily secured a position as the leading solo trumpet player in the Australian All Star Stage Band. The extensive tour surged through Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark and Holland covering some of the world’s biggest known Jazz Festivals including Montreux and the North Sea Jazz Festivals. Timmy’s talents in high school lay in improvisation and jamming over dance music was only a natural progression compared to the constant chord changes of Jazz and Bebop. Despite this, the cross-over into dance music came as a sheer stroke of luck when the horn blower – while working at the clothing store General Pants – was asked by a customer to bring his trumpet to one of their DJ sets. “I thought the idea was stupid initially, but I remember driving home from my first gig in Manly knowing this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life,” he says with a smile, and aren’t we glad he did! His ability to write, produce and perform has seen the dynamite instrumentalist stray into a league all of his own; teaming sexy, melodic trumpet solos directly over deep, dirty main room house to create unforgettable dance anthem hits. Timmy Trumpet’s single ‘Horny’, a collaboration with DJ Tenzin hit # 5 on the Aria Charts for 3 weeks and is being slammed across radio networks worldwide. After developing perfect pitch at a young age, Timmy’s progression into dance music has been characterised by his ability to effortlessly mix in key. This coupled with a live DJ / Trumpet crossover meant that before too long he was awarded – after a whopping 70,000 votes – the prestige title of Australia’s #7 DJ the 2011 ITM Music Awards and #2 in NSW. Having conquered the Australian Dance Music Scene, Timmy set his sights on international stardom breaking the boundaries of the Australian music scene in 2006 when he landed a contract with Hed Kandi. Jumping on the first flight to the UK, Timmy was set to prove his talents stretch far beyond a DJ novelty act; touring and performing to record crowds in clubs like South Korea’s Mass, Thailand’s Full Moon Party and Ibiza’s Pacha - where he played alongside Eric Morillio. Upon returning from Ibiza with a pocket full of contacts Timmy was determined to create a name for himself on home turf…then enter the Stafford Brothers, who heard of his talents while also touring in Ibiza. “Meeting the Stafford Brothers was definitely a big break. They introduced me to the Australian market outside of Sydney and I’ve learnt so much from them about music production, business and life,” he says, attributing the brothers as good role models. Often being dubbed “brother from another mother” Timmy Trumpet quickly established a strong relationship with the DJ duo and | 20 12 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Podcast 152: Camea WYS! | The Berlin based Clink Recordings boss Camea makes an overdue appearance here in Room One for WYS! this Sunday. With her label home to artists like Alexi Delano, Mark Henning and Tim Xavier, she is undoubtedly a woman of impeccable taste, but as her promo mix for the event in question proves, she’s got a knack for seamless DJing to boot. WYS: Tell us a little bit about your mix and your thought process behind it… Camea: I did this mix after a long weekend, so I was feeling a bit more deep and experimental. I tried to put together a selection of music that I love to listen to when I am relaxing at home as well as play out. We are approaching New Years Eve… Can you give us some of your highlights of the year so far? Wow, it's hard to summarize as I have had an amazing year and am very thankful for every moment of it! I think seeing my name on the cover of DJ Mag was definitely my biggest highlight; that was total pipe dream come true. Also being the first female to have music on Plus 8 was a big moment (I remixed on Ambivalent's ‘Jackson EP’), as well as doing a track on Heidi's ‘Jackathon’ comp and a remix for Ellen Allien's ‘Dust’ album. I was very honored to be a part of all of those projects. I also did my first compilation this year on my label, called ‘Clinkology’, which was a very gratifying experience as well! You posted a picture of your dog recently on facebook, relishing your time off. What else do you like to do when you’re not touring or producing? When I am not ‘working’, I love going on long walks with my dog, riding my bike and doing yoga. I also love to read books and watch cheesy teenage TV drama shows, they really give my brain a rest! You were born in Seattle, cut your teeth in Brooklyn and now reside in Berlin. Where do you see yourself ten years from now? Good question. I absolutely love living in Berlin but in ten years I might not be so in love with the long, dark winters. If that happens than I would love to move somewhere sunny in Latin America, I do a lot of touring down there so it would be nice to be in the region for awhile. What’s can we expect from Clink next year? Actually, I have been so busy that I have not had time to organize much for Clink yet in 2012! I have a lot going on in the studio right now and am working on some projects for some other labels. I am enjoying branching out and working outside of my label, it's new for me and very inspiring. I'll probably dream up some new, fun projects for Clink over the New Year... hopefully! I am definitely looking forward to some more Clink and Friends events, they have been going great and I am enjoying collaborating on events with friends. We are doing our first one at Panorama Bar in Berlin in January, I can't wait! Camea – WYS! Promo Mix Tracklist: 1) Hallowed - Bnjmn - Rush Hour 2) Mr President - Osunlade - Yoruba Records 3) Magnetkreis - Cio D'or - Prologue 4) Fizic - Cosmin TRG - 50 Weapons 5) Indeed Nosense - Nathan F - Blackrose Recordings 6) Slo-Mo Girl - Delete - Get Physical 7) Improve - Tboy, Wildkats - Neim 8) Eat Into My Soul - Waifs & Strays - Hot Natured 9) Think About It feat. Podcast 151: Jane Fitz | Jane Fitz story so far is a seriously impressive affair with house music. Spinning records at the tender age of thirteen, playing A-Ha next to George Benson, once she was old enough it didn’t take long for her love of buying records to propel her into the forefront of London’s 90’s care free torrential spirit of rave. For ten years, Jane’s legendary ‘Peg’ parties took over the Shoreditch wasteland to barn parties in the countryside, stretching a monumental eighteen hours at a time. Since then, she’s been tearing up the airwaves on her DirtySounds Sessions radio show on myhouseyourhouse with guest mixes from the likes of Scott Ferguson, Hakim Murphy, Steven Tang and b2b sessions with Keith Worthy and Jus-Ed MCing from her kitchen. With her first (highly-anticipated) release coming out soon with Dom Ahtuam aka Dlay (Sud Up Recordings) and her Room Three debut alongside good friend, Scott Grooves next Saturday, we took the time to sit down and have a chat with the Hackney spinstress. She’s also given us a promo mix, recorded live in one take, all off vinyl...it's clear Jane Fitz means business boys and girls. Hi Jane, for those that don’t know, can you briefly introduce yourself? Hello. I'm Jane. I collect and play records of different styles, colours, sizes, but generally the same shape. I also work as a writer and editor. I live in Hackney. My favourite drink is Soberano and the first record I ever bought was The Sun Goes Down by Level 42. Did you always want to become a DJ or was that something that happened organically? I have been playing records to people at parties since I was 13. This happened because, at school, I had the most records, so I was the only one who could. Although back then, in the mid 1980s, I was probably playing A-Ha next to George Benson. So I guess that means by now, in 2011, I have spent many more years alive jockeying discs than not. I always bought a lot of records, and I have always wanted people to hear them, in the order that I put them in. This has not changed one bit. I've just found a few more avenues to do this at now than 13-year-old's birthday parties. Do you feel an affinity with UK music? I don't really care where music comes from – I was brought up listening to soul records from America on pirate radio stations such as Solar and Horizon. At the same time in the charts you had British bands such as Loose Ends and Imagination and HiTension – it all sounded good to me, so I wouldn't say I was particularly patriotic, or that I even noticed. What I do have an affinity with is the UK attitude to music – that whether we play music from overseas or make it ourselves, we always put a British accent on it, and claim it for ourselves anyway. It's a bit bully-boy and arrogant – but I like that. It's also a bit more polite to colonise at home than abroad. What are some of your favourite memories from your infamous Peg parties, started in the 90s? What did you learn most about putting on parties in London during this time and making each one as special as the next? The party ran from 1999-2009 and I have so many great memories. The Peg In The Suns in Provence were amazing weekends of sunshine, brilliant music and high spirits; without fail, every year, someone would miss their flight home. Peg started in a juice bar on New Inn Yard when Shoreditch was still a bit of a wasteland. I remember walking around at that party giving people vodka jellies and little joints me and my friend had spent all afternoon rolling. I think my favourite ever Peg DJ set was actually at an afters we did at the Joiners Arms – Charles Webster blew my head off. I think my favourite party was an 18-hour Peg in a barn in Kent. Just amazing. The last ever Peg was brilliant too. Tell us about your long-running DirtySounds Sessions radio show on myhouseyourhouse.net. Are they a good i | 21 11 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

We're back on track this Sunday in London and we're impatient to play again. Can you give our readers a quick rundown of who you are and what you do? We met 7 years ago, started dating and pretty soon after started working together to create the project called Masomenos. During those 7 years we've created the label WTM that releases our music (well the one Adrienn is producing) with our artwork (that Joan is drawing). We also started to tour regularly, proposing a live act (Adrien) and a DJ set (Joan) under that same Masomenos name . We've developed what we can call today a brand/ art & design company, where we make everything from T-Shirts to bags, to lamps and limited bespoke items. Can you provide us with a couple of your favorite pieces so far for the Masomenos art collection? Joan:Concerning our favorites, that's difficult to choose. Of course the kidswear is super cute but I have to say I have a crush on the balloon lamp and the latest shoes -a pair of Nike I've drawn for my friend Charlotte. Also, what's new and exciting is our unique Masomenos basic clothes. We have t-shirt tank tops and zip hoodies designed with American retro with a really nice fabric and cut. Last but not least the helmet we did in collaboration with Ruby is eventually going to be out before Christmas - we started working on it a year ago. Where does the inspiration behind your illustrations come from? Well most of the graphics that are on the vinyl we create are at the same period of time (not the Balloons LP though) so usually, all our projects, like the live mix, The Third Eye, or Technocolor are a summary of the spirit of that time. Joan: I often have a marker pen in my hand, and draw on whatever. Sometimes I forget about them and find them a couple of months later, when it's a good time to finish them. We're both inspired by all kinds of psychedelic art with neon colors and crazy patterns, and on my side I have lots of pop art and cartoons influences also. Vivid plain colors, bold shapes, black outline and right now I think of Guy Pellart. I always forget to quote him when I've to answered this question... Whose artwork do you also admire in music? Joan: I was on the Circus company website recently and they have a pretty amazing collection. Also, Karat, Ghostly Intl and Perlon for the simple typographic and color pattern that can be used over and over. More old school is Blue note. And for fun and style, cheesy disco album covers, have tons of them! Tell us about your new album, ‘Te | 6 11 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Podcast 142: Poussez | Poussez' lascivious taste in music encompasses ‘funk to techno with all the myriad goodness in between.’ Both individually and together, Jafar and Maxime have been making serious waves on the scene since the late 90’s, with Jafar’s roots in the UK techno circuit DJing for nights like Eurobeat2000 and Universe's Final Frontier, toiling with the acid-techno scene and it’s day trippers and squat parties, whereas Maxime, based in Chicago and San Fransisco, soaked up the West Coast vibes of house music pioneers such as DJ Garth. Bound by a blistering passion for electronic music and the perfectly encapsulating atmosphere of the extended set, whether they’re building beats for three hours or twelve, their immense energy is driven by a belief that you get out of music what you put in. Nurturing artists like Kris Wadworth and Andy Touchfingers' 9-piece soul outfit Poetiquette, to Andreas Saag and Nacho, who’ll be joining them in the Room Three takeover next Saturday, the pair also run the fun-loving Uptownboogiedown parties and compile a noteworthy podcast series with regular mixes from the label roster, plus some very special guests. But before fabric gets a piece of the Artizan charm, we asked Poussez to dig deep into the touchstone moments of their history so far and deliver us a taster mix which surpassed our expectations - as soon as you see the tracklisting, will know you're in for a rare treat. Tracklisting: 1. Ed Davenport - Lustre - Liebe Detail 2. Eddie Leader - Ummmm Well - Huddtraxx 3. Delano Smith - Change is Coming - Sushitech 4. Axel Boman - Paris 2006 ft Kornel Kovacs - Play it Down 5. Serafin & Roman Bruderer - Dream Sequence - Mountain People 6. Mutiny - Swimming with Sharks - Ovum 7. Delano Smith - Wires - Sushitech 8. Itamar Sagi - One Million Oaks - Soma 9. Meat & Chris Wood - Backdown (Sascha Dive Mix) - Murmur 10. David Durango - Supernature (Matthew Styles Mix) - NRK 11. Tony Lionni - Precious ft Marvin Belton (Deetron Remix) - Freerange 12. Satyr - Roadrunner - Liebe Detail 13. Rennie Foster ft Moka Only - Connect like Four (Samuel L Session mix) - Rebirth 14. Makam - Hide & Seek - Soweso 15. Cuartero - Caminando - Soulman Music 16. Kris Wadsworth - Detroit to London - BOE 17. Dachshund - Oak Glen - Highgrade 18. Poussez 'Ode to fabric' - Artizan Music Can you tell us how you two came to meet? Set the scene for us and the story of how you formed Poussez and the Artizan Music label back in 2004? Jafar: As independent artists we'd both been chipping away a long time. I put out my first record on Dave The Drummer's Hydraulix in 1997, whilst Max was releasing on Dust Traxx. My belief has always been you get out of music what you put in. Nothing is going to land in your lap, so I went to work for various labels, distro’s and music PR’s - anything to learn as much as I could. I love every facet of the industry, but it takes no prisoners. The more you can do to connect with people, the better. When I met Max in 2004, I instantly recognised a kindred spirit, a man with the same intense burn in his soul for electronic music. We truly vibrate at the same frequency. Max: We actually met at a friend’s BBQ and immediately got chatting about music, DJing and production. We then scheduled some sessions and instantly had a vibe in the studio with very similar tastes. Both of us share a passion for the deeper side. One thing lead to another and Poussez was formed. At the time, Jaf was already running Artizan Music with Andy Touchfingers, whilst I was busy heading up the art and music collective 4bit with my friend Pete Nawara. 4bit was about combining live art, graphic design and electronic music, showcasing it at events around East London. When Pete moved back to Chicago, I decided to join the Artizan ranks. Everything felt really natural about it. Of course now I completely regret it. | 22 8 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Podcast 141: D'Julz (Base Culture Records) | The music of D’Julz’s Bass Culture Records is a far cry away from the tear it up ethos of the Ed Banger-esque sound that’s been one of the loudest voices in French dance music over the last decade. Drawing audible references to Detroit as much as UK rave D’Julz is onto something and after 15 years experience DJing he’s created his own niche in house music with a mix of meaty bass lines and his arrary of analogue machines garnering a classic but modern sound. Today we present you with this mix from D’Julz; a promotional celebration of his Bass Culture Records unique Parisian style which features tracks from Arnaud Le Texier who’ll be joining D’Julz in the booth alongside live performances from Anonym and Lemos this Saturday. Hi D’Julz, Please can you introduce yourself to our readers? My name is Julien Veniel, I was born born in Paris and I have been spending the last 15 years in clubs, studios and aeroplanes ...and I love it! What’ve you been up to so far this year? As well as some very good DJ gigs here and there I’ve released my first EP on my label Bass Culture, which wasn’t an easy task being such a pain in the ass A&R. I also finished bunch of remixes for label such as Minus, Robsoul, Bpitch, Soma. In general on a life tip I’ve made a concerted effert to get into doing more exercise, cutting down the drink and healthy eating. Am happy to report I have miserably failed! With a career that began in 1992 - was it always house/techno you were listening to and playing? I was listening to funk ,soul, disco, hip hop, jazz , dub... But it s House music that made me want to become a DJ. Did you grow up in Paris itself? What was the music scene like when you were growing up where that was? Disco was huge in France in the late 70's so it must have had some sort of impact on my baby ears. Later I had access to a lot of different music through some quality pirate radio stations. Early hip hop was very big back then, many kids from my generation got exposed to it through dance or graffiti. On the contrary house and techno remained very underground, almost unknown, until the mid 90's but i got lucky to be at right place at the right time to have access to it nearly a decade before the French touch happe happened. Who were your early musical influences? When I was around 7, I was listening mostly to the film scores of my biggest heroes like James Bond and Bruce Lee only to realise later that John Barry and Lalo Shiffrin weren’t bad music teachers. As a teenager I became a huge Prince and Minneapolis sound fan which quickly led me towards funk ,soul and rock. Then came hip hop, reggae / dub and more recently jazz and classical. How did the UK acid house and rave revolution affect you? I'm hearing some influence come through in Bass Culture's output It was English promoters who brought acid house to Paris in clubs such as Rex or Palace in 87-88 but I was still too young to get into clubs at that time. When I was old enough a couple of years on I started to go out to those clubs though, and to the first raves. In 1991 I went to London as well, I remember going to Rage at Heaven and a also to big hardcore party at the Astoria. I kept going regularly to London for the next 10 years mainly for record shopping to places like Fat Cat, Black Market, Tag or Swag. The London deep house and tech house sound circa 1998 was also a big influence on m . Did you start DJing or producing first? How did you become to be involved in electronic music? I started DJing first for the first time around 1991 after having spent all my weekends dancing in clubs and early raves. It became my full time job in 98, then I started spending time in the studio studio, starting off by collaborating with producer and engineer friends. Then, after having learned from them I started producing on my own in early 2000's Bas | 8 8 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Podcast 140: Jay Haze | Jay Haze energy is infectious and sincere. In his message in music and the deeper meaning of life, he explores political, economical, cultural and emotional issues with such individuality and enthusiasm that as an artist he is in a niche all of his own. With nearly 20 years behind the DJ wheel and with half of those committed to his respected labels, TuningSpork and Contexterrior, he’s also known worldwide as Fuckpony and has collaborated with Ricardo Villalobos, Robag Wruhme and Samim Winiger to name a few. His contribution to our compilation series, fabric47 back in 2009 launched his new campaign, DJ’s for DRC, to help victims in the war-torn Congo. Donating all of his money from the CD sales toward the charity Merlin, Jay's been a key player encouraging a number of other DJ’s to donate money from gigs. This year Jay set up Red Dot Relief which rallies DJ support for Japan and joining him on the RDR bandwagon is Visionquest and Crosstown Rebels crew and newbie Radioslave. In February this year Jay released what he said to be his final album: ‘Love = Evolution’. You can get the full story behind the album and download it for free in our interview below. What's more, we speak to Jay in-depth about his South American roots, the Love = Evolution’ tour, why Sneak is his number one homie and the future for Jay as he closes the curtains on his beloved TuningSpork and Contexterrior. We also have a very special and rare mix from Jay made especially for his fabric family. So unique, it features music from a tribe known as living in the mountains of Colombia. In his own words, “Overall I guess it’s a mix of house music with soul and one that pays respect to 'real' music!” You're known for being someone who has a relentless focus on bringing political/social awareness through your music. Where does the passion come from & where do you stand by it today? First off thanks for noticing my efforts. I guess the passion comes from the struggle I had growing up and trying to be an artist. I had to trudge through many different obstacle courses on the road to acceptance and it wasn’t easy! Out there I saw it all - darkness, deceptions, disease, violence, addiction and abuse - when I grew older and explored the USA and my mind, I started to appreciate the more beautiful side of life, this is what motivated me to move in the direction I do - I realized it’s not all bad, it’s never all bad - in fact it’s gorgeous! What I went through grounded me, and at the same time opened my eyes to what's really happening in this social system. I think in many ways I’m still the same rebel kid with no respect for authority I always was, I just learned how to channel it differently into a more positive direction. I believe passion is an extreme expression of love- so whenever you have a passion, you are never too far from happiness. Having passion brings out the best in you, being able to do something you love is worth standing up for…. FOREVER! Tell us about the collection of tracks that feature on your new album Love = Evolution? Well, I think its best to refer you to a link here for your readers to click through if they are interested, as I have written the entire story of Love=Evolution Love Evolution Facebook The collection of tracks has very much to do with a collection of amazing encounters and bizarre twists. I think it’s worth a read plus there is a free download link for anyone who didn’t get the album yet. In what ways is the album special to you? This album was special to me because I was able to realize something I had dreamed of years ago. Being able to set a goal, years before that, seemed unattainable, then 10 years on being able to say you did it - it’s pretty fulfilling! What has living in Peru taught you and can you describe the different ways this been translated through your music since you first started out? Wow. I can | 31 7 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Podcast 137: Mr C | Even though the music scene is often charactarised as a fickle world with one hit wonders and the hot topic constantly drifting from one focus to another, we find ourselves driven to dispel that opinion when we find people, veterans, who are are still at the forefront of party making and soundtracking. Mr C is one such individual. Continually moving forward thanks to his vision and thirst for the new, he’s never about to sit back and lament on the past (from his time in the Shaman to his owning of The End), he’s living in the moment and looking forward from one project to another. Superfreq is the party that Mr C has instilled around the world and it’s coming in full force to Farringdon this weekend. Following his DJ debut in Room One back in January we’ve given him control of Room One and he’s invited [a]pendics.shuffle to perform live alongside Luke VB and Tim Reid. To give a prelude to the event we spoke to Mr C at length, charting his achievements to date alongside his current plans for the future whilst gaining an insight into the sounds that set him off in this super special Superfreq mix. Hi Richard, thanks for speaking with us I hope all’s well with you, what are you up to today? I'm having a very busy day indeed today, it's been a pretty hectic week. I'm promoting, organising & getting stuff ready for my party tomorrow night which is called Superfreq Limited in a villa up in the pristine hills of Malibu in Los Angeles, so much to do but I'm getting there. I've also been mixing up and thoroughly enjoying new vinyl at home in preparation for tomorrow nights set. We finally had you come to our disco this year, how did your fabric debut go in January? I had the most amazing time. The Superfreq posse was there in full force! I thoroughly enjoyed my set and exclusively playing vinyl through the valve rotary mixer, can't wait to play with Craig on that mixer this time coming, we’re gonna kill it. I was extremely excited about my debut set in your disco which I'm sure came through when I was playing as I feel it’s still one of my best sets of the year by far, but then playing in that booth on that sound kind of does that to a guy, especially playing there for the first time. Also I must say how wonderfully I was treated by all at fabric, thank you for your wonderful hospitality. Back to the very beginnings of your career as this is the first time we’ve spoken to you, when did you first discover your vocal talents and that you were going to be involved in electronic music? It started in 1979 I’d rap along to The Sugar Hill Gang’s Rappers Delight which was when I first thought I’d like to do this. I was a huge fan and would memorise all the lyrics to all the songs coming out at that time. I was also a huge fan of old school electro like Africa Bambata & The Soul Sonic Force and Egyptian Lover so was into electronic music very early in the 80’s. Soon after I started writing my own lyrics then made my debut in a club in Tenerife in ‘83. After that there was no holding me back. I then went on to rap with various crews Dave Dorell, The Boiler House Crew at RAW and at the Do At The Zoo, the LWR Soul Syndicate, Ron Tom Jasper The Vinyl Junkie and I also rapped with another huge influence of mine Jazzy M who was my first real inspiration in house music from his Jacking Zone show on LWR. After that I started rapping with Colin Faver & Eddie Richards in 1886 & became resident MC at the Camden Palace which led to me rapping for Colin Faver on the then illegal Kiss FM. I recorded my first record with Evil Eddie Richards in early 1987 which Eddie released on his on imprint Eddies Baad records the same year. I did a spoken word vocal on the the track Page 67, it was about the power of the subconscious mind and what can be achieved with meditation and positive thinking. This was what showed me I wasn’t happy just doing vocals, I want | 17 7 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Podcast 135: Vince Watson | Whilst it might seem easy to stick to the four four beat and pound that rhythm out, techno comes in many forms. When an artist comes around that shows soul, tenderness and a knack for melody in their music whilst retaining that hard edge and maintaining that deep groove you know you’re onto something special. It’s this fervent depth and sound that sets Vince Watson apart from the crowd and enabling him releases on the world’s most revered labels including Carl Craig’s Planet E and Delsin. Here we talk to him about his international creative friendships, the art of storytelling and why musicianship is important in his performances ahead of his live show here on the 9th July, a date that also welcomes the virtuoso of the studio mix, Dixon, and originator of the micro house movement, Isolee, back to Farringdon. Hi Vince how’re you, what’re you up to today? Great thanks! Its so warm today that I had to put the heating on to cool me down.. I’m putting together a big profile/press launch that’s happening later this week. Firstly, let’s talk about this mix you’ve done for us, were there any particular ideas and inspirations behind it? I’m a storyteller when it comes to performing. I don't think I’ve ever turned up and just started playing carefree, so this mix is a story from start to finish. I even start and end the mix with two different versions of the same track to being the story to and end properly. As I’m playing Live for you guys on 9 July however, I wanted to do both here, so what I’ve done is create a mix where the first half is music from other artists and the second half is mostly music of my own, all DJ'd together from CDs. There are a couple of exclusives that I kept for this one. fabric is a club which for me, really stays true to the quality control, and has been a supporter of good music for a long time, so the mix reflects this by choosing a few different styles and creating a story from that. What would you say fairly describes the balance of older and newer sounds in your record bag when you come to DJ and record mixes? There's some really great new artists out there, but 75% of my music choices when I DJ is new music from established artists. It’s difficult sometimes, when i get some demos or promos sent to me, I really like some of the music but the mastering or the mixdowns on some of them are not so good and take the energy out of it. I think over time the older heads have learned a lot and the quality of the audio masters is so good now, in both digital and analogue formats...It’s a fine line....you have to try and break new artists through. I’ve even remastered and even edited some promos I’ve been given just to play them and make them work. Recording mixes is slightly different...you can be a lot more versatile and this is a must when you’re telling a story. Ambient and electronica styles of music have played their part in bringing melody to your music - is this still the music you listen to when not on a house / techno tip? Ive taken so much from those genre's over the years....Ambient still hits my speakers in morning and Sundays in the park....but IDM/Electronica I’ve shied away from a little in recent times. There wasn't anything exciting coming from it to catch my attention. Ive replaced that with Soundtracks, which is something I’m moving into slowly but surely. It’s always been an aspiration of mines to do this and recent Hans Zimmer and Cinematic Orchestra soundtracks have blown me away. I’ve always been a classical music fan anyway but some of the modern material is really breaking ground and is of most interest to me at the moment. You release on a variety of labels each with their own keen identity, is that something that helps to inspire you and keep your ideas fresh? I’m lucky to be versatile in my music creation but the h | 6 7 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Podcast 134: Ryan Elliot | If there’s a bone in your body that wants to hear something galvanic and dance-inspiring, you’ll follow Ryan Elliott to his extended sets at Berlin’s Berghain and Panoramabar. The monthly resident takes no fear in verily pushing limits. Whether it’s a deep excursion into haunting ambient techno or a steamy deep house vibe, his immaculate DJ sets, inspired by quality imprints amongst the cream of the techno crop, Axis, M Plant, Perlon, Playhouse and early Kompakt, lend themselves to any given time of day or night. To say we’re excited about the narrative Ryan will be bringing to Room Two’s dancefloor next Saturday really is an understatement. As one-half of Spectral Sound’s A&R team, alongside Matthew Dear, Ryan moved from his home town Detroit to the 4/4 underground capital, Berlin in 2009, turned on by the influx of vinyl-only record stores the city has to offer. After contributing to the Ostgut Fünf anniversary compilation last year, it wasn’t long before Ostgut signed Ryan to release his first ever EP ‘Rocksteady.’ For 2011, it looks as though Ryan has been bitten by the production bug with some very exciting releases in the pipeline- we took the liberty to find out what’s in store and chat about everything from Detroit’s highly-competitive scene, the new faces on Spectral Sound and how (heartwarmingly) fabric was his first booking outside the US way back in the day. Going beyond the call of duty, Ryan has warmed our techno engines with a totally unique mix, exclusive to fabric. In his own words, “ this mix is a little different for me - its bpm's are a little slower, the tracks play a little longer, the mixes ride longer, its moody and sexy in that late night / early morning way. There is even some non 4/4 stuff at the beginning. As with all my sets, it contains some new tracks, some old tracks, and some special edits.” Tell us about the last gig you played and a couple of tracks that really got the crowd moving? I just played in Panoramabar this past Saturday night. I have a monthly residency at Berghain / Panoramabar so I have the opportunity to play lots of different sets. Berghain is very different from Panoramabar, and both are very different from the outside Garden that is open in the summer when the weather is nice. I absolutely love playing in all the rooms there. It's one of the most forward thinking clubs in the world - with both music and aesthetically. This past weekend's set was in Panoramabar, so good quality house music always gets the crowd moving nicely. Nick Hoppner's new EP on Ostgut, the new Cosmin TRG release on 50 Weapons, and a few old Prescription classics were some of the standouts off the top of my head. You are one-half of Spectral Sound’s A&R team, alongside Matthew Dear. The label is going stronger than ever in its eleventh year- tell us how it all started and how has its voice evolved over the years? The label was started as the dance floor orientated little brother to Ghostly International. With Spectral we are focusing on house and techno for DJ's. It's as simple as that. Dance music changes quickly, so we do too. Some of our releases are more house, some more techno, some acid, etc.. but we always make sure it has that "Spectral" feel. That means that we stay up to date on dance music movements all over the world, but also give it our "mid-western" feel from where the label was born. What’s the rest of the year looking for Spectral Sound- who are some of the new faces we should be keeping an eye out for? We are very excited about the second half of 2011. We just released Benoit & Sergio's pop-house anthem "Let Me Count The Ways", we have some excellent remixes coming off the back of Mark E's "Stone Breaker" LP, and I will be releasing my first EP on Spectral at the end of the summer titled "Kicking Up" with an Audion remix. Podcast 133: Cosmonaut | With a brooding sonic palette built on lunar reverberations, meticulously layered synths, doom rhythms and blissed-out vocals beamed straight from the ether, Cosmonaut bridge the gap between hedonistic party jams and introspective slow burners with the soundtrack to your voyage back home to Earth. Her first vocal for Robbie, Star Quality, became the title track for his 2008 artist album and was remixed by the likes of Wally Lopez, Paolo Jackson and Richard Dinsdale, with Lizzie herself also turning in a storming dirty house remix. To date, Lizzie has recorded 3 more vocals for Robbie Rivera, all released on Juicy Music: Meant To Be, The Rain (featured on his 2009 artist album) and the seminal summer house smasher Sax Heaven, which was remixed by Alex Gaudino and Thomas Gold. Robbie Rivera says of Lizzie's work ‘I must say she is the easiest singer/songwriter I have ever worked with. She has a beautiful voice and a great personality and this shows on the songs she does for me.’ Lizzie's passion and dedication to the craft of singing and songwriting has seen her become highly sought after for her vocals and her discography to date, alongside her impressive catalogue with Robbie Rivera on Juicy Music, includes rele | 13 6 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Jacob’s first release ‘Jump Up’ was heavily supported by Radio 1’s Annie Mac. It featured on 3 Essential Mixes in 2010 and was on both Ministry Of Sound Annual 2011 and Ministry Of Sound Addicted To Bass 2010. Jacob began his music career, producing production beds for radio stations across the UK, primarily for BBC Radio 1. Podcast 129: D.O.D | Punching well above his years, D.O.D is standing on the edge of becoming an international sensation within club circles. Already finding plaudits among Annie Mac, Kissy Sell-Out and Laurent Garnier, this fresh faced beats stalwart has also managed to secure himself a residency with Mixmag for their club and Ibiza tours; not bad for a kid who’s barely out of his teens. With a DJ style that can only be deemed as inimitable, in-your-face turntable wizardry, D.O.D has managed to secure a wide cross section of fans with his music – which sets about fusing the lines between house, techno, electro, breaks, drum & bass, dubstep, hip-hop, and indie, all laced with acapellas to deliver a killer party punch on any dancefloor. Having worked his way up the ladder over the past couple of years, D.O.D’s success can be attested to the old fashioned approach of ‘making it’ through promoting his own events alongside learning his craft on the road at various events up and down the country. But whilst his work ethic is familiar of yesteryears hard craft approach, his technical ability is certainly more forward moving. Positioning his musical style as ‘Jump-Up Electro with the Unexpected’, he utilises 3-4 CDJ'S, DJM800 an EFX1000/Kaoss Pad 3, alongside his own personal edits and bootlegs, to great effect – citing the likes of QBert, DJ Yoda and the Scratch Perverts as inspiration for his style of play. This approach to the art of DJing has led him to share the stage with a whopping ensemble of peek time performers; Chase & Status, KraftyKuts, Plump DJs, Grooverider, Shy FX, N-Type, Doorly, Benga, Rusko, Faithless, Example, T.C, The Whip, The Cuban Brothers and Pendulum. With his first EP due in May, D.O.D is fast at working ensuring the early ripple of his success continues to gather momentum. Recently signed to legendary New State Music for his next single release, he can now also boast a remix for Dutch electro champion Laidback Luke’s new single track 'Turbulence'. A recent rework of Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell’s evergreen classic ‘Ain’t no Mountain High Enough’ caused a blistering stir on the blogosphere, clocking up well-in excess of ten thousand downloads across formats and led to an impressive explosion of hits with his bi-weekly FWAP! podcast. On the road his trail of devastating eclectic pollination has rumbled the dancefloors to much hype at Gatecrasher, Syndicate in Blackpool, Junk in Southampton, Arena Middlesbrough, Ministry Of Sound in Egypt and Liverpool clubbing institution Cream. 2011 also sees D.O.D joining the residents team for KissDaFunk alongside maintaining regularly appearances for his own night popular FWAP! Over the course of the next few months his schedule is packed with a string of white-hot club dates from Venus in Manchester, Electric Playground, Lush in Portrush, Versuz in Belgium, Ministry of Sound in Egypt, Gatecrasher in Birmingham and Radio 1’s Big Weekender after party. With enough tricks to keep the eyes as transfixed as the ears, it’s no wonder the world of rave can’t stop their clamour for him. Dance music is at its most potent when all about fresh, hungry and talented youth, and D.O.D represents that lust for measured abandon brilliantly. The dance floor may never be the same again... Podcast 128: Bobby & Steve | It could be their ‘Zoo Experience’ radio show, the longest running show on London’s Kiss FM, or the legendary parties that were ‘Garage City’ and Soul Heaven? Perhaps it’s their ultimate dance weekender Summervibes, or their sell-out parties at the Miami Winter Music Conference? Maybe it’s the famous Klub Zoo, or their Friday night residency, Groove On @ Heaven or it might just be their exciting agenda of plans they have for 2005 the list is endless. Exactly what makes Bobby & Steve so successful is hard to define, but one thing is for sure, they’ve come a very long way from their weekly slot at Simpson’s Wine Bar in East London’s Forest Gate. Brought up on and inspired by the greats of soul music, such as Teddy Pendergrass, Loose Ends, The Chi-Lites, Leroy Burgess, McFadden & Whitehead, Barry White, Thelma Houston, and the Jones girls. Born and bred East End twins Bobby & Steve’s musical heritage rests firmly on the shoulders of soul funk and disco. In 1984, at just twenty years of age the twins landed their first regular DJ gig at a local wine bar, ‘Simpson’s’, and soon afterwards were holding regular Saturday night warehouse parties, searching out illegal venues which were big enough to hold the hoards of followers as the word spread. Bobby & Steve soon became both instrumental and respected figures in the eighties warehouse party scene, through playing their favourite soul and funk music at their own parties alongside fellow guest DJ’s Norman Jay, Linden C and Trevor ‘Madhatter’ Nelson. News of the success of the boys’ parties soon spread, and it wasn’t long before Bobby & Steve were approached by Gordon Mac, initiator and pioneer of London’s biggest (then) pirate radio station Kiss FM, who offered them a weekly slot. The already established ‘Zoo Experience’ was born. Ten years on and the ‘Zoo Experience’ was Kiss 100 FM’s longest running specialist show. Hosted by Bobby & Steve, the ‘Zoo Experience’ broadcast each and every Friday night between the hours of 10.00 pm and 12.00 am. Once Kiss FM was granted its legal place on the airwaves in 1990, the twins decided to do the same with their now somewhat legendary Klub Zoo night. Originally held every Wednesday night at Munkberry’s in the heart of London’s west end back in 1988, the timing was perfect for the return of Klub Zoo every Friday night with it’s new found home at the Soho Theatre. Famed for its mix of classic soul, disco grooves and very early house music, the Zoo regular following would flock religiously to the club each week to hear their favourite Salsoul, Prelude or Philadelphia International grooves. Klub Zoo ran for Three successful years and Bobby & Steve and the club later became instrumental in planting the UK roots for what would later become more commonly referred to as US House and Garage music. However, it was a trip to New York at the tail end of the eighties that was to mark a major turnabout in the futures of Bobby & Steve and Zoo. A visit to Larry Levan’s infamous Paradise Garage club gave the twins their first taste of a new sound dubbed ‘Garage’ music, a sound which American jocks such as Levan and Tony Humphries were championing. Evolving from the more soulful and gospel parts of disco, garage music with its soaring vocals, intricate melodies and jazzy instrumentals, captured the ears of the twins. They had found their sound, dance music that still contained their beloved soulful influences. With this in mind Bobby & Steve went back to London and wasted no time in launching their legendary Saturday night venture ‘Garage City’, hailed as the UK’s most established Garage night out, playing the best in soulful, funky and uplifting house & garage each and every Saturday for a phenomenal 12 years, and seeing them joined regularly by the biggest names from the house and garage arena. ‘Garage City’ has had visits from t | 2 5 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Podcast 127: Tune Brothers | Spring 2006: A team of DJs is celebrating its tenth anniversary and can look back on a decade in which one high was topped by the next. First they conquered Stuttgart, their home base, followed by the rest of Germany and then Ibiza. They have travelled from Russia to Latin America and back again. They have produced club hits, remixes and have established a dance network that makes tens of thousands of people happy, with its events, radio shows and record labels, be it on air, in clubs and on recordings. Ten years of full action – all for the love of house music. The success of the Tune Brothers (also known as Markus Hägele and Matthias Kraus) is based on a joint appreciation of house music and the proper party vibe. The two have developed a system, which appears to run with the precision of a Swiss clockwork, weekend after weekend after weekend, but lives from the intention of two music lovers who play one forward pass after the other, back-2-back style. Every new 12” follows on from its precursor. The Tune Brothers take their audience along on a trip around the globe of house music and create a set from vocal to electro, from deep to tech or from uplifting to Latin, that sounds as if it were from a single cast. The transitions between the styles flow naturally, maximum pleasure guaranteed. Back in the early 1990s, the Tune Brothers set out on separate DJ careers. In 1996, they joined up as a DJ team in the context of what was then the largest series of events held in Stuttgart. Within virtually no time they became local hype and played at the city’s largest parties, next to DJ stars such as Roger Sanchez, Mousse T., David Morales, Erick “More” Morillo, Tom Novy, Boris Dlugosch or Felix Da Housecat. In parallel they founded the Housesession series of events, which has since become an entire network. In 2000, they were awarded the PRINZ Nightlife Award in the category “Best DJ” – voted for, of course, by the readers of PRINZ. The Tune Brothers managed the quantum leap beyond the deep valley of Stuttgart; in fact long before they could provide proof of their own production. Apart from the most important festivals (SonneMondSterne, Solar Dance/Sofia, Nature One, Love Parade), they also played in all well-known house clubs and rushed through the night life of international metropolises with a tight schedule of appointments. The steps are constantly increasing, the distances are ever greater. Summer is the most strenuous time of the year, the house Mecca of Ibiza is on their schedule. The few gigs of their first season in Ibiza turned to weekly residencies in the following years. In 2005 they were official Space Residents, and on top of that, for the first time ever, their Housesession held events in the most famous clubs in the world. In the course of the decade, two young DJs turned into two adult label owners, radio producers, music producers and remixers. Housesession has become a (registered) trademark. The Housesession network is characterised by one common denominator: think globally. Not only the German scene is watched; internationality is the name of the game. The Housesession radio show launched on the youth radio station DASDING in 2000 is currently broadcast to nine stations in five countries (Germany, Spain, Greece, Belgium and Bulgaria). During the first hour the Tune Brothers mix the latest and generally unpublished tracks. During the second hour a famous DJ supplies a mix as has been done over the past six years, starting with David Guetta, Bob Sinclair or Little Louie Vega and through to Deep Dish. Thanks not only to this unique platform, the Tune Brothers have become an important interface for fresh house music in Germany. With their first official compilations “In The Mix Vol. 1 & 2” they laid the foundation for the record label Housesession Records, which established itself toward the middle of their first decade. Podcast 126: Tommy Trash | ARIA Award nominated Tommy Trash is one of the biggest names in Australian dance music. Since bursting onto the scene less than five years ago, Tommy has dominated charts and dance floors alike with over 45 originals and remixes, quickly establishing himself as one of Australia’s most talented and prolific homegrown artists. Tommy’s latest single, “All My Friends”, was his most successful to date, spending a whopping six weeks at the top of the ARIA Club Charts. A collaboration with Tom Piper and featuring Mr Wilson on vocals, “All My Friends” has already claimed its title as one of the biggest Australian dance music releases of 2011. Prior to “All My Friends”, Mr Wilson also lent his vocals to “Need Me To Stay”, a club banger that earned Tommy an ARIA Awards nomination for Best Dance Release. “Need Me To Stay” debuted at an incredible number 14 on the ARIA Top 50 Singles Chart – the highest charting single by any Australian artist at the time – and peaked at number two on the ARIA Club Chart. With a controversial film clip that Video Hits declared too hot for TV, “Need Me To Stay” caused a frenzy on MySpace and YouTube, as well as outselling Lady Gaga’s equally controversial “Paparazzi” on Three Mobile and being viewed over 120,000 times in under a week on ninemsn’s The Fix. Tommy’s had tunes on a bevy of top dance music labels across the world, including cr2, Great Stuff, Toolroom and Subliminal, and has collaborated with producers including John Dahlback, Moguai and Angger Dimas. Support for Tommy’s releases has come from international stalwarts including Tiesto, Axwell, Eric Morillo, Laidback Luke, Benni Benassi and Afrojack. When not busy writing his own hits, Tommy can be found lending his remixing skills to artists from Lady Sovereign and Kaskade to Green Velvet, Armand Van Helden and Gypsy And The Cat, Ou est le Swimming Pool. At one point, Tommy’s remixes even held the number one and number two Aria Club Chart slots simultaneously, knocking his remix of Green Velvet’s “Shake N Pop” off the top rung and replacing it with his killer rendition of Armand Van Helden’s “I Want Your Soul”. Tommy has also been kept busy mixing a handful of Ministry of Sound’s iconic compilation albums, including the 2011 Annual, which achieved the number one position on both the iTunes Album Chart and ARIA Compilation Chart, as well as Sessions Six and Seven and Electro House Sessions One and Two. Outside of the studio, Tommy has built a reputation as a highly skilled and much loved DJ. Curls flying, Tommy plays a crowd-pleasing collection of his own originals, remixes, edits and bootlegs, and is an unquestionable draw card for club nights and festivals across Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Europe. From club nights at Superdisco, Family, Platinum and Moulin Rouge to festivals such as Good Vibrations, Stereosonic, Future Music Festival and God’s Kitchen, Tommy's sets are not to be missed. | 17 4 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Podcast 125: AITBF | Tradition is as much part of life as the calendar is and for us these two very important pennies drop simultaneously in April with Adventures In The Beetroot Field, our annual peacock like display of ascension rituals. Over the past 6 years AITBF has marked Easter Thursday on a grand scale, presenting an ‘indoor festival’ that’s populated by the latest and greatest bands and DJs across all three rooms here at fabric. Forging an unrivalled reputation for unearthing those acts that are destined for much greater things it’s the archetypal warm up for the summer festivals with AITBF’s hit rate recounting previous successes including Hot Chip, Florence and The Machine, Friendly Fires, Brodinski and Mount Kimbie. This year’s installment on Thursday 21st will be no exception; the lineup spans modern takes on the classic house and disco templates, providing ecstatic dream pop alongside industrially tinged electronic, micro chopped hip hop instrumentals and grunged up indie rock. It’ll also be taking a diversion into contemporary R&B thanks to So Bones – a tri-city (London, New York and Bristol) celebration of everything that is great about this overly produced, sexed up, chart bothering music – who are hosting Room Three with sets from Romy xx, Night Slug’s Girl Unit, DJ T€ARJ£RK£R and the collective’s main protagonist, Tri Angle. The players on the 2011 AITBF lineup have been responsible for some of the biggest dancefloor anthems of the last 12 months. Infecting nightspots the world over with their own sound signatures producers like Tensnake, Riton and Mehdi (appearing together as Carte Blanche) have impacted on listeners with their own manner of disco and electro respectively. Artists like D/R/U/G/S use melody jaggedly, putting the constant shunt and experimental melody into their music whilst acts like the Young Turks signed CREEP - whio are making their UK debut with this performance - transplant a little of that same dark edged texture into songs that are a little more hummable. Having sparked scrub fires across the nation’s airwaves and prompting acres of breathless praise across independent press and the blogosphere, all the artists on the lineup are on the tip of the proverbial tongue in the first quarter of 2011; and as ever, we invite you to take fabric and AITBF by the hand as we guide you through the soundtrack of the future. Podcast 124: Wilkinson | Not that we ever need an excuse to treat you to drum & bass dappled goodness but after the sun battled past London’s clouds this morning, we’ve decided it’s officially Spring. So what better way is there to celebrate than with a high energy 170bpm mix courtesy of Ram Records’ newbie Wilkinson!? Having joined Andy C’s ever-growing quality roster last year and with three of his tracks, including the space-trippin hit ‘Moonwalker,’ featured on ‘Nightlife Volume 5’ - the latest LP from the label’s prestigious compilation series - Wilkinson has quickly confirmed that he is most definitely a producer to watch closely this year. Podcast 123: Billy Nasty | It’s become a bit of a tradition that Billy Nasty celebrates his birthday with us here in EC1 and it’s almost criminal that we’ve got no evidence of his blistering techno sets up online to document the bleeding-edge sound of Billy Nasty, that is, until now… Billy’s illustrious career has its roots in the birth acid house which led to him being at the helm of the hit you where it hurts dancefloor electro and techno labels Tortured and Electrix Records. During their time they released the likes of Cari Lekebush, The Advent, Bass Junkie and Phil Kieran filling the record bags of those DJ’s looking for that harder sound, people including Dave Clarke and Laurent Garnier. In more recent years Billy has chosen to focus his efforts more on his DJing and production; consequently DJing on an international scale. A resident at the magnificent Bloc festival he’s also set sail as a new project with Keith ‘Radioactiveman’ Tenniswood, aptly named Radionasty. The duo have started off well with their first track being unveiled on the booming EPM 10 Compilation and we can look forward to hearing more from the dastardly pair this year. This mix captures the energy of Mr. Nasty’s sets perfectly, building and pumping while showing off his ear for the extraordinary, we can prepare to paint Room Two red this Saturday with the help of fellow hard hitters Ben Sims and Len Faki. Podcast 121: Appleblim | Appleblim is a true character and a music obsessive. Literally bigger than most things in any DJ booth we truly look forward to each one of the Bristol based producer’s sets here. Having played numerous times - he’s twice hosted Room Three in aid of his record label Apple Pips - he returns to complete a lineup that reunites the composite players of the heralded Skull Disco label, setting up shop alongside his old label mate and fabric 55 artist, Shackleton and the Chilean mastermind Ricardo Villalobos; with all three appearing alongside Craig Richards. In Appleblim’s trademark gentlemanly fashion, when we asked him if he had anything on the horizon ahead of the show he went above and beyond both the call of duty and our expectations, providing us with a 90 min mix of super fresh material and giving the world what is probably the first public airing on over 50% of these tracks (only a couple of them are reportedly available at this time). He also took the time to provide up to the minute details on his movements of late, filling us in on what’s happening with his own productions alongside those he chooses to expose in the near future on Apple Pips. “I've been working a lot with [Caravan label boss] October;” he offers when probed on his current musical partnerships. “We've just completed a 12" for an exciting new Bristol label called Smorgasbord. Its great fun working with Jules, he has a really interesting studio that is really easy to make music in. He’s got tons of great old synths and outboard effects, and a mixing desk, which is not the way I’m used to working, so it’s been a really fun process. We started quite a few beats, but settled on a slow house thing and then totally changed the direction of another piece and made it a house paced piece of dubbed-out woozy synth. He's been making tons of lovely kinda deep-trippy-jackin-house stuff some of which will see the light of day on Apple Pips.” Al Tourettes and I are working on new stuff together, as well as a remix for upcoming German house dude Axel Boman for Hypercolour; he did a 12” on Koze's Pampa label which I really liked. It's sounding really cool, and I’m excited to hear what he does for us in return. Al is one to watch in 2011 and his live set just HAS to be seen, it's a stonker! Also Arkist has been one of my tips for a long time, and I’m really excited to be releasing a killer 12" from him on Apple Pips, both tracks can be heard on the mix...these are the kind of tunes that every time I play them (and I do mean EVERY time!) people come up to the booth freaking out wondering who they are by. Myself and Arkist are working on a remix of Sepalcure for Hotflush that is on some hydro-pump bassline, hydraulic neurofunk garage type shiz... I think peeps are gonna love it! Scuba is returning the favour by remixing Arkist's 'Rendezvous' (I just heard that he has done not one but TWO mixes of it - so excited to hear the results!” Appleblim’s enthusiasm for these producers is completely founded too and his unearthings for his label have ranged across styles and tempos just as much as his DJ sets do. Since those early releases by the likes of Martyn, Brackles and Instra:mental, he’s developed his tastes, seemingly seeding a lot more from his immediate surroundings, releasing singles from his fellow Bristol based producers Kidkut, Orphan 101 and Komonazmuk last year. From what we’ve seen he looks most comfortable in this kind of situation, standing amongst friends as an equal, as well as an able outlet. It seems to be holding him, and his music collection, in very good stead. “Wedge & Gatekeeper have both been making great music recently too that will hopefully see light of day over the coming months,” he continues, never stifling his flow. “Wedge, working in tandem with another great Bristol producer, I.D., is mak | 6 3 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Podcast 119: DVS1 | It’s been a busy couple of years for Zak Khutoretsky aka DVS1. He’s since been catapulted into the spotlight thanks to his releases on Ben Klock’s Klockworks and Derrick May’s Transmat Records, both achieving critical acclaim and impressive DJ support. Having premier singles on such highly regarded labels was a big part of the impact and wow factor when Zak’s music finally made it out there, but in the context of his work to date it was an overdue progression of what was already shaping up to be a full and prosperous career on a local level, as a dedicated music man in the USA’s unsung Midwest metropolis, Minneapolis. In a way it’s refreshing to incubate talent and passion that has been living and breathing in music before putting any ideas onto the dubplate. After gathering up his influences over 20 years of involvement in music it feels right that this is the time for DVS1 to reap what he’s sown. We caught up with Zak ahead of his first ever UK show in our disco on the 5th of March, to chat about his past and future projects, including the forthcoming 15th birthday of his promotion Hush Sound, and how it all turned around for him in his ‘right time right place’ meeting with Ben Klock. Plus check out this fresh DJ mix previewing some of Zak's new and unreleased material. Your roots in Minneapolis are much discussed, what makes it special to you and why do you think people are so interested? Ever since I started getting asked about Minneapolis in interviews and what makes it so special, I’ve slowly repeated the same things over and over. What I’ve never really thought about until now is that we don’t brag about what we have, we don’t really try and explain it; we just do what we do and have people who feel very passionate about it. Because we don’t have the opportunities of some of the bigger cities in the US we work hard for what we have and it’s something special and really indescribable when it works. There’s a cool story about the night you met Ben Klock, and how your first release came together with him could you relay this to our readers? My meeting with Ben really came together during a period of major change for me. I had just shut down my club, started and ended a new night and was really searching for what my next investment of time would be. At the same time some local promoters had asked me if I would be willing to do a live PA. I had only done it one other time and that was 3 years prior. I agreed to do it and started focusing on my productions. About a month later another promoter announced the show with Ben on the same night, so I asked the guys that I was playing for if they could put me on a bit later as I wanted to go check Ben out. That night, after Ben got done playing, the promoters asked him to come with to check me out since it was something rare for me to do a live set; he almost didn’t make it, but they convinced him that it would be worth his time! He literally walked in as I started and after the set, we chatted quick and made a connection. A few weeks later we started emailing and he asked me if I put any music out. I told him that I hadn’t ever thought about it, but that maybe the timing was right for me to start! He picked 4 parts of my live set that he liked and I developed that into what became my first record. One of those 4 tracks didn’t make it onto the release, but will be on the next Klockworks record coming at the end of March. I’ve said it before, but I was never the right guy in the right place at the right time until that night. I had been happily working throwing events, DJing and being a part of my local music community for over 15 years until I got the chance to release that record. Now I’m really focused on making music and exploring the next steps in my passion for this music. We know your first Klockworks | 27 2 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Podcast 116: Marc Vedo | Since the frosty period of January Marc Vedo has been on a whirlwind adventure that has taken in some of the biggest events dance music has to offer, spreading his music across continents and musical genres alike; cementing the fact that 2010 has been undoubtedly the year when all his pieces finally fell into place! To recap, there has been the release of his KW365 mix album, countless far-flung tours taking in hotspots from Indonesia, Russia, Canada, Australia and China. Alongside his djing there has also been the rise of his productions that have catapulted into the playlists of dance luminaries such as Tiësto, Erick Morillo and Roger Sanchez in recent months. His productions have also found similar success in both download and singles charts from Beatport through to the Top 40 UK dance chart. The year also saw Marc complete a dance-floor shaking remix of Boy George’s first club release in several years ‘Amazing Grace’. Marc has since followed this up with a new solo production titled ‘Staccato’ that has been swelling in his club sets for the past few months and will be hitting the public domain any week now. Yet the successes of 2010 don’t stop there! With the ink barely dry on the paper, Marc is proud to announce the imminent launch of a new recording label between Boy George and himself. Called VG Records (meaning “Very Good” records), the label will kick off in December with the pairs forthcoming collaboration ‘Sunshine into my life’ that features Charlene Hector (of Basement Jaxx fame) on vocals. Alongside all this activity, Marc has still found time to celebrate the landmark of his infamous globe-trotting export Koolwaters hitting its 10th year putting on some of club-lands best parties. What started out as a regional club night has since become a thundering Mecca for quality dance music across the world. The Chemical Brothers, Groove Armada, Sasha and Steve Lawler are just a few of the big players that can profess to the atmosphere and excitement behind each and every Koolwaters event. So with no better excuse for a party than a 10 year milestone, Marc decided to take Koolwaters back to what it does best – touring! Retracing some of the clubs earlier steps, Koolwaters has been vigorously returning to many of the cities, and featuring numerous old DJ friends, that helped shape KW into what it is today. So far the tour has staged parties in Bristol, Plymouth, Cardiff, Swansea, as well as its spiritual home of Taunton. Overseas events have included 10th birthday events in Italy, Switzerland, Russia, as well as an exclusive showcase at Panama for this year’s Amsterdam Dance Event. Possibly the highlight of the whole occasion so far has to be the invitation from clubbing bible DJ Magazine, who requested that Koolwaters celebrate its 10th birthday in true industry fashion by hosting the Loft room at this years 100 DJs Awards party at Ministry of Sound in London. The roadblock event featured KW residents Boy George (who also hosted the ceremony) and Marc Vedo alongside a bulging line up of heavyweight spinners in Deadmau5, Afrojack, Fedde Le Grand, and newly crowned World #1 DJ Armin van Buuren. So successful were Marc and George’s sets at the awards event that the heads of DJ Mag personally requested that the pair mix the magazine’s Christmas cover mount CD. A fitting additional to an already incredible year for the Koolwaters stable artists! This exclusive B2B mix will be the spring board for the pair’s new artist label VG Records and feature signature tracks like ‘Staccato’, Magic Sax’ and the forthcoming ‘Sunshine into my life’. The culmination of the tour will see a special Koolwaters 10th birthday compilation. The 2 x disc album will feature a blend of seminal tracks from the clubs history together with a collection of the biggest peak-time monsters currently rocking the KW dancefloors. Podcast 115: Hypercolour presents Glass Table | Next Saturday Fabric have a mighty crew doing the hosting honours in Room Three: Hypercolour are set to present Glass Table - their built to jack off-centre house imprint. Amongst their roster they count a galaxy of rising stars including Maya Jane Coles who, at 23 years old, is the name on everybody’s lips right now - the dance community in awe of her output. We speak to label boss Alex Jones who has also given us this exclusive Hypercolour Presents Glass Table mix to find out more about this exciting and fresh venture. “The ‘Glasstable’ is actually in my living room and it was a place that Jamie (Cedric Maison) & I would listen to new promos and make a lot of A&R decisions when we first started Hypercolour - often when we had returned from a club/party, often worse for wear. We had our first one in about 6 months recently, for about 6 months actually as he pissed off to Ibiza for the summer. Anyways... we decided we should pay homage to it by creating a record label in its honor. “It would be an outlet for slightly more experimental music/not straight up house and techno like its estranged cousin Hypercolour; the sort of music that you can listen to with ease in the very early hours when feeling slightly inebriated or effected. All the vinyl are picture discs that I design and all the artwork/videos are fairly controversial – just like it can get around the table when you have a house full of idiots (or friends as some people like to call them). Artists we’re working with at the moment include Jimmy Edgar, Kyle Hall, Soul Clap & Catz n Dogz together as CLAPZ II DOGZ & of course AXEL BOMAN... Who we have headlining the room next Saturday.” “The mix I have put together I think encapsulates the sort of sound you can expect to hear from us in the room on the night – it has a fair few exclusive sneak peeks of forthcoming Hypercolour and Glasstable releases and some other tracks that have nothing to do with the label what so ever (although I wish they did) – they just push my buttons so to speak.” Tracklist: 1. Steve Bug - Drives me up the wall (Les Rythmes Digitales remix) [Raw Elements] 2. Soul Capsule - Overcome [Trelik] 3. Alex Jones feat. Kris Wadsworth - Cowboy Trap [Forthcoming on Hypercolour] 4. Osborne - Bout ready to Jack [Spectral Sound] 5. Leif - Down [Forthcoming on Hypercolour] 6. Maya Jane Coles - Nobody Else (Kris Wadsworth remix) [Forthcoming on Hypercolour] 7. George Levings - Good 8. Tom Demac - Lose That, Tape This [Forthcoming on Hypercolour] 9. Mark Henning - Collider [Cityfox] 10. Alex Jones - Disappointing Dancefloors [Forthcoming on Hypercolour] 11. Podcast 114: Pete Jordan | Over the past 12 months I’ve made a transition from DJ/Promoter to DJ/Producer. The Spectrum brand continues to grow and indeed will be celebrating its 10th Birthday very soon, but with a new team working on Spectrum events my main focus is on my studio work and DJing. It’s fair to say that 2010 has been a fruitful year in the studio, and I’ve made a lot of music under my own name, as well as the Jordan & Santero moniker (with DJ Santero) and with my live act The Majeure Force. To kick off the new year, and to showcase some of my many forthcoming releases, I’ve created this mix for your listening pleasure made entirely of my productions. The first half of 2011 will see numerous releases on a number of superb labels including 2 huge EP’s on Top Billin, plus remixes on Distinctive, San City High and Diablo Loco to name just a few. What will become clear is my production sound is following in a similar vein to my DJing style – unashamedly eclectic. This mix kicks off with some disco influenced house, moving into a variety of electro and house styled tracks, touching on some techno, a little bit of broken beat, some progressive styles and even the well loved Jordan and Santero remix of Stevie Wonder’s Superstition. I originally did this in a quick mix style, but decided to rerecord it focussing on getting the most out of the tracks. Although I am not averse to quick mixing styles if done well, I feel we need to move back towards to appreciation of progression within club music, letting the tracks breath a little and tell their story rather than 32 bars of one, then onto the next tune. A big shout out to all the people I have worked with this year including Dom from Brothers Bud/Starjackers, Santero, Michael Morph, Hexadecimal, DJ Hal, Dan Neon and Steph McCourt, Joe B and Simon Mills from Bent (aka Napolean). Podcast 113: Sandwell District Live Set | Together, Sandwell District are a label and production entity that are incredibly hard to define. Flouting most of the rules to success in today’s music industry, they’ve achieved cult status and a very loyal and passionate following amongst the underground techno community since their first release in 2002. We’re welcoming them back to our club on the 15th of January - along with Deetron, Agoria and the air London crew - following the release their first LP, ‘Feed Forward,’ which, despite their typical non-press plan, has received numerous rapturous reviews and the 700 limited edition clear vinyl copies, sold out within days. It’s this kind of cloak and dagger approach to releasing music that has created such a healthy mystique around the group, who’ve been steadily building their reputation over the course of their anonymous releases with a strong art aesthetic, which is nowhere more evident than on their blog, run by member Juan Mendez, aka Silent Servant. Other collaborators at the core of Sandwell District are Dave Sumner (Function), Karl O’Connor (Regis) and Peter Sutton (Female), who all share production duties and label running responsibilities. Regis and Function take control of the live aspect of Sandwell District controlling a set up that mixes the digital with analogue, DJing, whilst mixing aspects of live performance into the sound stew. The computerized aspects are not synched with the outboard equipment, but the two work off each other live manually cueing the software and machines. It’s these fresh and unpredictable combinations that give SD the live energy that we’re eagerly anticipating from their set in Room Two. Ahead of their appearance at Fabric we’ve scored a 2 hour live set for our blog recorded at Plex in February 2010. Check out their curation at this year’s Bloc Weekend festival for a lineup that includes SD’s very own Silent Sevant here. http://www.fabriclondon.com/blog/view/audio-sandwell-district-live-at-plex Sandwell District will be at fabric next weekend as well as Agoria, Mr C, Sascha Dive and the Air London Crew. Podcast 111: Matt Caseli (Special 2 Hour Mix) | Matt Caseli may not be a household name to most but when you consider his achievements over the last decade, it is hard to deny he’s a DJ who’s been in the right places, at the right parties! Having just marked his 14th year as a resident for the world renowned Pacha Ibiza, Matt can proudly stake claim to having played each and every one of those summers for some of the biggest and best club nights ever founded in club land from Subliminal, Def Mix, Release Yourself, Defected, the mighty F*** Me I’m Famous, and most recently world dominators the Swedish House Mafia. Yet this longstanding association with Pacha has not kept him shackled to the brands flagship club on The White Isle, but instead has seen him flung to the skies with regular appearances at a number of their other legendary cherry baring venues across the globe. Whether it’s rocking South America with sets at Pacha Buzios (Rio De Janiero) or Pacha Manaus to having the dancefloors of Pacha Hamburg and Pacha London gripped in a grooving spell, Matt Caseli’s mark as a Pacha resident is one that is permanently etched into the memories of its clubbers every time he takes to the decks. No wonder then that they recently bestowed upon him a second residency that has seen him join the DJ team at the new ultra chic – Pacha Moscow. But his story doesn’t start with Pacha. In fact his opening gambit in the scene came working under his real name Matt Orr, where working as a producer for London Records he wrote, produced and remixed rave legend Baby.D and the bands Top 40 UK chart anthem ‘I Need Your Loving’ and Gold selling album ‘Deliverance’. Peaking at #3 in the UK singles chart, ‘I Need Your Loving’ was the early catalyst needed to launch Matt’s career as a full time producer in the urban scene. What followed were several more hits in the underground scene before a bold decision saw him breakaway from Drum & Bass to pursue a sound closer to his own heart – house music. So in 1996 he adopted the name Matt Caseli to mark a move away from the urban productions he had been previously associated with. The following summer he relocated to Ibiza and soon became the first ever resident for the now legendary beach club Bora Bora. His talent were soon recognized by Pacha, who invited him for a guest DJ appearance at the club. After several repeated bookings Matt was eventually signed as an official resident and ambassador for the club. While his European summers are consumed rocking the dancefloor of the planets most celebrated club. His winters are spent headlining many of the world’s most glamorous clubs and cities. With a club repertoire that reads from Las Vegas to San Francisco and Hong Kong to Jakarta, it’s fair to say that Matt’s music expands beyond just the duties of a resident dj – an art form within itself. With a flavoursome style that combines elements of tribal, tech and the occasional vocal house track, it understandable to see how he’s picked up a solid bed of fans in the varying musical climates of far reaching destinations as Philippines, Equador, Russia and Malaysia. A bi-monthly resident of Barcelona’s legendary venue Discoteque, Matt’s diary has also led him to making appearances at mammoth festival favourites like Homelands and in more recent times Creamfields. Along his travels Matt frequently shares the bill with some of the biggest names in the game including Erick Morillo, Bob Sinclar, David Guetta, Frankie Knuckles, Roger Sanchez, to name only a handful. Yet whilst his DJing achievements have soared, it’s also worth noting that Matt has transferred the knowledge and wisdom he picked up from his days in the drum & bass scene and channelled this into a bubbling stream of house cuts that frequently provide the soundtrack to many of the scenes biggest artists and parties. Podcast 109: Chris Lake | Ahead of this weeks Kinky Malinki event at Ministry of Sound we catch up with headline DJ Chris Lake! It's your first time playing for the KM faithful. Can you describe in 5 words what they can expect from a Chris Lake set? Groovy, ass-shaking, ballsy, epic moments We have admired your work for some time, even featuring your first major hit, 'Changes' on our first compilation album several years ago. What has been your biggest 'pinch me, I must be dreaming' moment since those earlier days? Nobody believes me when I say this, but it's when I was walking through Aberdeen airport 4 years ago, and I saw Steve Davis (Snooker legend) walking through the terminal. I don't know what came over me, but I genuinely became starstruck when I saw him, and headed over to ask him how he'd done in a tournament he was playing in Asia that I was watching whilst touring China. I missed the semi final as I was travelling to Japan that day and I couldn't find the result on line. I must have looked crazy as he was edging away from me as I was asking him, then he replied that he got 'absolutely mullered'! End of conversation...... You rocked the main stage at SW4 this year, how do you find DJing at festivals and do you enjoy small, sweaty clubs as well as playing to ten's of thousands of people? Basically, I love them both. Big crowds obviously get the big attention, and when it's going off, there's nothing like it, but the same can be said of a small club, when you have every single persons full attention, and the vibe is electric, having complete control of the crowd. Those shows are amazing! You've recently brought out an Album, 'Cross The Line' with regular collaborator, Lys. For a house music producer, releasing a full artist album must be a proud moment? How did you find the whole process of getting an album together? Was it a more organic approach or did you have to force it sometimes? No this one was organic, but at the same time a lot of hard work. We had basically put a few tracks together, and decided to put together an album, but we set ourselves a date to finish it, and we actually managed to meet it for once. We literally worked our asses off to finish it, but had so much fun in the process. I think you can hear it in the final results though, as I think it sounds very positive. I'm definitely massively proud of this album You've worked with a couple of people who's surnames/names have begun with an L (Sebastien Leger and Lys), that keep up the catchy sounding 'Lake & L.....'. Can you give us another person you'd like to work with who's name begins with an L? Haha, good point, I never even noticed that. Lauren Hill. What a voice, what an artist. Her killing me softly cover is one of my all time favourites You are totally to blame for me (and probably countless others) humming and whistling the ridiculously infectious hook from La Tromba regularly, even to this day. When you created it, did the hook ingrain itself into your mind too? Definitely. I wrote it, turned to Lys, and said this is going to really bug people. I then sent a working clip to some mates of mine, and they said it sounded like the Rocky theme tune. I nearly scrapped the record after that description! | 5 12 10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Podcast 108: Stefano Noferini | For many off us September spells the end of the summer. With the nights drawing in and the sun slowly setting on us, its time to look back on the passing season… Its been a busy Summer for Italian house star Stefano Noferini. Kicking the Ibiza season off in style Stefano played Space's infamous opening party, returning to the venue a further five times to perform on the world famous terrace for "Monday's Calling". In recent months Stefano's been traveling relentlessly to appear at Space in Miami, Warehouse in Tokyo and Ministry of Sound in London. He's toured Brazil and played shows at Tresor in Berlin, Famous in Moscow as well as numerous European shows including Pacha Mallorca and Privilege in Ibiza. With his unrelenting touring schedule its surprising that he's had any time at all to work on his production, but he's been hard at it in the studio too. He's enjoyed #1 spots on the Billboard dance chart for "Push N Pull" (Deeperfect Records) & on the Beatport top 100 for Burujava (Toolroom records). He was nominated by Beatport as one of the "Breakout Stars of WMC 2010", and its no surprise; Stefano's original production regularly charts on the site, he's recently reached the top 10 in both House and Tech House charts with "It's War", “Ghuroom” & "Maky" on (Toolroom) respectively. As well as original production Stefano is an in demand remixer having recently worked with Black Hole (Fast Eddie) , Spinnin, Blanco Y Negro, Skint (X-Press 2), ZooGroove, Deeperfect (Wally Lopez), King Street, Dj Dan label and many more. …so as the nights grow longer and darker, remember that with more hours of night we have, the more hours of clubbing we have, be sure to spend some of the in the company of Stefano Noferini. Podcast 107: Eddie Thoneick | You’re part of what can only be described as a 'star studded line up' for Kinky Malinki at Ministry of Sound, alongside Chris Lake, Funkerman and Kid Massive. Do you think about upping your game or unleashing some 'secret weapons' when playing alongside such talent? I think it is a great line up. The good thing is that all of us who play at the party have quite a different kind of sound, so I can unleash my bootleg-mashup set without having thoughts what to play. As I do a lot of edits every week I can be sure no one plays the tracks I play. Sound wise there will be something for everyone and it for sure won´t be boring! Can you tell us what took place last year when you unfortunately couldn't make the Kinky Malinki birthday bash due to a bad injury? Was it something cool, like you fell off a BMX whilst trying to do some tricks, or something more innocuous like, you fell out of the shower? Yeah, I was quite frustrated that this happened. I was really looking forward playing at your party. The evening before I hit my little toe on the TV-table. Just heard a crack and I knew something bad was going on. The next morning my toe looked like a big red cherry and after being to the hospital I realized it was broken. That´s the whole story.. Recently you held a studio/technical based Q&A with your followers on Twitter (twitter.com/eddiethoneick). Would you be open to throwing that wider to #askeddie about ANYTHING and what's the strangest thing you've been asked, either in an interview or by a fan? I´m open to discuss about nearly everything with my fans. I think it´s important to show that I´m interested in them & they´re important to me. That´s also the reason I do a lot of competitions, giveaways & Q&A stuff. Without Fans there´s no popularity. I love touring the world and catching up with fans every time I play, as they´re the reason I´m making music. There hasn´t been a too stupid question so far, but let´s see what happens in the near future… I think it's safe to say that you're a fan of the occasional bootleg/mash up, having created a few big ones yourself, the Eurhythmics/Temper Trap and even your recent mash up of Nothing Better/Live Your Life, spring to mind. What's the best bootleg you've ever heard and please feel free to expose the worst? The Bootleg I did of Temper Traps & Eurhythmic still is my icebreaker and it is kind of timeless (already 1year old now, but it never gets boring). As there isn´t an acapella of Sweet Dreams available anywhere this is one of a kind. I did that acapella myself with some studio tricks. The Live your Life/ Nothing Better Mashup fit perfectly into each other so I think it was time to share it with my friends. I´ve received a lot of Bootlegs via Soundcloud of my tracks. So far there hasn´t been a real good one. So people I´m still hoping someone of you will have it done soon! You've teamed up with Erick Morillo of late. How did that come about and is he as energetic in the studio as he appears in the booth? Erick was always a big supporter of my productions and we got in contact about 1 or 2 years ago personally. One day we were talking about our future productions and we came up with the idea doing something together, as we both love the same style of music. Finally then in October 2009 I started working on a track for us which ended up being “live your life”. I sent it over and Erick loved it from the very beginning, so he searched for a vocalist who can give the track the right feel, so he chose Shawnee Taylor. She wrote the Lyrics together with Duane Harden and the result was mind-blowing. Studio wise of course one problem was the distance between Germany & Miami, but we sent the track way and back via Internet and I worked on it in my studio, changed some arrangement and finalized the version with vocals. We did the Video of “Live Your Life” in Miami and we took the time t | 23 11 10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Podcast 105: Ad Brown | Introduction: Marking a new dawn in British progressive / progressive-trance, his precision-built, evocative electronic soundscapes have fast found the ears of many of the scene's leading lights. Prog maestros like Sasha, Nick Warren & Dave Seaman are ardent supporters, as are forward-thinking trance legionnaires like Ferry Corsten and Gareth Emery. Ad is regularly called upon to remix some of music's biggest stars, including the only official Sony BMG dance remix of Ushers hit 'The DJ Got Us Fallin In Love Again'. No less a talent behind a pair of turntables, he has become the warm up man-of-choice for some of the biggest names one the scene. In 2009 he supported Calvin Harris and Paul Oakenfold on their respective UK shows, since then he has gone on to tour the States (inc Pacha NY), and more recently India (inc Quantum, India's biggest and most advanced superclub.) He is Ad Brown and he is an impossible-to-miss presence. Ad Brown – The Early Years: Attending the prestigious Academy of Contemporary Music (the starting point for stars including Sugar Babe Amelle Berrabah and Mercury Music Prize Award Winner Toby Couling), Ad took his degree in Business and Music. Whilst studying he learnt the music industry ropes moonlighting in the promotions department of heavy-hitting dance label, Serious Records. Upon graduating, Ad had to decide whether to go down the record label or DJ/recording artist route. Believing in himself as a producer and DJ, he opted for the latter… Release The Music: Through both his Ad Brown and Maxi Valvona releases, he quickly made a name for himself as the go-to man for enriched prog-themed atmospherics. Think the melodies of Above & Beyond crossbred with the backing tracks of Digweed and you're nine tenths of the way there. Originally signed to Black Hole Recordings, he debuted on the off shoot progressive label Fris! in late 2008 with the double-header release 'Smoke' and 'I Just Do'. Just a few months later recognition came fast to his door with the '09 releases 'Hope' and 'Chasing Rainbows'. The latter scored the 5/5 Money Shot review in DJ Mag, with the publication stating that the track "positively bulged with dark synthery, thudding drums and imaginative percussion" and added that it was one with "a murderously good chiming top line". A month after its release the track was compiled onto the 2009 Trance Energy album and Ad himself was named by the music-critics.com website as "a producer to watch". Over the course of the 2010 Brown drew manyplaudits for his much-spun bootleg rewiring of Holden & Thompson's prog house classic 'Nothing'. It was music again championed by a remarkably broad spectrum of DJs. In May of that year he also delivered the 'Velvet EP', his debut release under his new pseudonym, Maxi Valvona (for Solarstone's Insatiable Records). On the immediate horizon he has an intensive release schedule with tracks & remixes forthcoming on imprints including Anjunadeep, Black Hole, Baroque, Electronic Elements, Intuition Deep and Silk Royal. Ad Brown – The DJ: You will rarely see a spinner more at home and at ease in front of a pair of CDJs than Brown. Combining flawless mixing with sophisticated selection and electric audience interaction, both UK and abroad, he has brought clubs under his spell. He's played nights that have included UK club landmarks like Serious' night at the Cross, Dusted, The Honey Club in Brighton, Maximal at Turnmills. Of late he's also spun at famed progressive night, Twisted Audio, as a guest alongside Anthony Pappa. Ad is also is the only UK artist to be invited to play the fastemerging Silk Royal Showcase night in Philadelphia. TRACKLIST 1. Roger Martinez - Moment (Original Mix) Novus Ordo EP [00:00] 2. He has come into his own defining a new house, techno and break beat sound resulting in him being a man in demand on the international DJ circuit. Hailed as “one of our tips for the top… now mixing it up with the best of em, like the bastard son of Bushwacka! and Nic Fanciulii” by We Love Space promoter Mark Broadbent, it does not go unnoticed that he is always “keeping one eye on the dance floor at all times“. Jem is steadily on the rise to his vision of making it all about the music again, exactly what he has in mind when he thinks about the wave of dance music in the late 80s. A humble kind of guy, he states that he is “simply embracing the music he loved and lived growing up in London”. For Jem Haynes, it all began at the age of 14 when he bought his first pair of technics and became DJ Search. No stranger to the old skool rave scene on the London circuit, it is the memories of the togetherness vibe, getting to know people on the dancefloor, being there for the music, just having fun that spurs him to keep the spirit of acid house alive. Jem has been DJ-ing and producing House, Breaks, Hip-Hop, Jungle, Hardcore, Drum N Bass and just about anything else with a beat in it for the best part of 16 years. His productions always feature heavily in his sets either by way of brand new material or a cheeky edit of something you know and love, creating a sound that energises the dancefloor and leaves the crowd with a smile on their face. It is the ability to play and mix a combination of genres in one set if the mood takes him and he sees the crowd wants it that gives him his distinctive edge club lovers yearn for. And this comes from being part of the crowd prior to his gigs and staying long after to witness the before and after effects, taking mental notes for his next gig. His devotion to music has seen him do everything from playing weekly Drum & Bass radio shows such as Don FM and Flex FM in the early 90s to setting up his own record stall in South London. He released his first collaborative track in 1995 under The Leaf Label, which became an underground classic played by the late John Peel on Radio 1. Hosting his own show on Groovetech Internet radio for two years and guest appearances on Kiss F.M and Ministry of Sound radio meant he quickly secured gigs in some of the best clubs and festivals in the world….We Love Space weekly residency (Ibiza), Glastonbury, Glade, Fabric, The End, Ministry of Sound, Lovebox (UK), Babyface (China), Hush (Canada), Sankeys ( Manchester), Asta (New Zealand), Club Vera (Korea). La Paloma (Barcelona), Future sound of breaks (area 51) Miami WMC, Pomladi festival (Slovenia), 013 (Holland), Simple festival (Holland), Daybreaks (Toronto) and Now Sound (Budapest) to name a few. He has played alongside the best of them…Groove Armada, David Guetta, Danny Tenaglia, Bob Sinclair, James Zabelia, Paul Woolford, Layo Bushwacka, Slam, Hybrid, Stanton warriors, Plump DJs, Leroy Thornhill (Prodigy), Adam Freeland, The Bays, Keith Teniswood, Ken Iishi, Miss Kitten, Jeff Mills, Carl Craig, DJ Sneak. Jem has also released his music on the following labels: The Leaf label (Luger E.P), Simple records, Marine Parade, Renegade Hardware, Octagon, Stratosphere, Mob, Functional Breaks, Streetwise, Smartbreaks. Most will know Jem from Precision Cuts, a UK breakbeat band who formed in 2000 and performed global DJ and Live shows. Though Jem has moved away from the straight up breaks arena, it is clear in his style that he does not let a break beat go that easily….his sound is now broadly speaking, one of a crafted combination of house and break beat. Podcast 96: Scott Martin | A Summer of exclusive podcast mixes from We Love Space.. Sundays' resident DJ's Eight summers in Ibiza and a genuine love for music has helped shape Scott Martin as a truly Balearic DJ. The pioneer of a totally eclectic style, Scott Martin’s distinctive sound has covered a broad music spectrum, from chill out, lounge and leftfield through broken beat, jazz, latin and breaks to disco and all types of house music. Scott describes his current playing style as “House music, warm and emotive... I really don’t like trying to describe music, it does it no justice… to try and talk about music is like trying to dance about painting” Scott Martin’s music has definitely done the talking, and has led him to bookings around the world; from Mexico, Dubai and Bahrain, to China, Thailand and Australia as well as dates across Europe. It is his spiritual home of Ibiza where Scott has really made his mark having spent the past 4 summers as a resident for “We Love” on Sundays at Space. Add this to an already impressive list of residencies that include Mambo, Savannah and Privilege and it is clear to see the calibre of this ever popular DJ. His popularity highlighted when nominated “Best Up and Coming DJ’ in the 2006 M8 Ibiza dance Awards. In the past 8 years in Ibiza Scott has played for Radio 1's 10th Anniversary party @ Space and has been a regular guest at Carl Cox & Friends, Pete Tong’s new night “Wonderland” and Steve Lawler’s night “Viva”. Other high-profile guest-slots around the island have included Pacha, Eden, Es Paradis, Es Vive, Las Dalias, Grial, Lolas, Guarana and Bambuddha Grove. Scott has played alongside many of the world’s greatest DJs on a regular basis including Danny Tenaglia, Fatboy Slim, Tiefschwarz, Alfredo, James Zabiela, Groove Armada, Frankie Knuckles, Roger Sanchez, DJ Hell, 2Many DJs, Pete Tong, and his all time DJ idol, Laurent Garnier. Not only appealing to ‘popular culture’ Scott is also a favourite on the underground, after-hours and villa party scenes in Ibiza. Beside his DJ residencies, Scott has been responsible for putting on some great parties over the past 10 or so years. Starting off with the legendary “Jumpstart” parties around the turn of the century that hosted events in cool, urban locations – railway arches, basements, a converted church, and the infamous raves in the disused Aldwych tube station. He then went on to set up the popular “FILTHY gorgeous” with fellow dj Jamie Gittins. Launched in July 2005 as a small party in San Antonio’s ‘West End’ it soon moved to a residency at the world’s biggest club, Privilege. Every Wednesday FILTHY gorgeous entertained an international crowd in Privilege’s Coco Loco room as part of Mauro Picotto’s “Meganite”. Scott’s latest project is the ultra hip “Pete’s 50th” party which he runs with the ‘Private Parts’ duo of Ryan Hope & Ste Roberts. Outside of the clubs and Scott Martin is equally at home on radio or in the studio. Scott hosted a weekly show on HFM (Ibiza) and has had guest appearances and mixes on UK stations MoS radio, Kiss 100, Unknown and House FM. Scott is working on several productions with his first full release due out soon. Scott Martin is currently based in London where he has played many of the capital's established venues including The End, Turnmills, Unit 7, T Bar, The Key, Canvas, Pacha, Egg, Scala, Café de Paris and Sosho, as well as clubs up and down the UK like Sankeys, Custard Factory, Honey Club, Ocean Rooms, Ignition, The Warehouse and The Northern Light. | 30 8 10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Podcast 94: Sander van Doorn | First there were Heineken and Edam, then came Sander van Doorn. The Dutch musical genius may not be as mature as his predecessors but he’s certainly made as much of an impact in his comparatively short career, not only in The Netherlands but also across the world. Having made his debut in the world renowned DJ Mag Top 100 at 32 in 2006, before climbing 19 places to No.13 in 2008’s poll; sandwiched between Carl Cox and Paul Oakenfold, the fast rise of Sander van Doorn is a testament to his raw talent and dedication. In just seven years he’s clocked up more dance floor destroyers, sell out gigs and awards than most artists do in a lifetime… and his journey is still in its infancy. From the start Sander (and his alter egos; Sam Sharp, Purple Haze, Filterfunk & Sandler) has produced a variety of sounds at a level that only most producers can dream of, combining elements of trance, electro, techno and house constantly blowing away his fans and comrades, keeping everyone guessing what he’s going to come up with next. His debut artist album ‘Supernaturalistic’ was released in 2008 to rave reviews and launched a 32 date global album tour. He followed this by winning the coveted prize of ‘Best Breakthrough Artist’ at WMC’s IDMA, where he also received a nomination for ‘Best Underground Track’ with ‘Riff’. It’s not only Sander’s solo productions that keep everyone on their toes but his bootlegs, covers and incredible remixes. This year we have seen Sander deliver official interpretations for multi-million selling and multi-award winning band, The Killers, with his re-working of their single ‘Spaceman’, as well as ‘Peace’, the new single from electronic legends Depeche Mode. Also let’s not forget his fantastic selection of collaborations, with artists including friend and mentor Marco V on the monster tracks ‘Organic’ and ‘What Say’, and ‘Close My Eyes’, the European Top 20 hit, with a man that needs no introduction, Robbie Williams. Sander is one of the most in-demand genre crossing producers of his generation, his releases regularly picking up support from as wide reaching places as Pete Tong, Judge Jules, Tiesto and Carl Cox – you’re as likely to find his records in a house DJ’s box as a trance DJs. Not content with taking the world by storm with his productions, Sander’s DJ skills are a force to be reckoned with. Every year sees Sander playing to over one million clubbers. He consistently headlines huge events from Sensation to Global Gathering, from Trance Energy and Mysteryland through to his high profile summer residency at Cream in Ibiza. It was Sander’s DJing experiences around the world that prompted him to start up ‘Dusk Till Doorn’, taking clubbing to the next level, offering the ultimate Sander van Doorn experience.. Having already wowed crowds at the launch in May at The Gallery, Ministry of Sound, London and in Ibiza in June, Sander’s musical and visual journey continues to pleasure crowds around the globe. Sander is extremely grateful to his fans and likes to give back as much possible. In 2006 Sander set up his own radio show, giving fans the opportunity to hear him no matter where they might be. Now in it’s 3rd year and broadcast on DI.FM and syncidacted globally, the show has given Sander a platform to distribute the sound thousands of fans adore and a stage to test his own productions. In 2009 Sander relaunched www.sandervandoorn.com offering users the chance to view his Studio Sessions videos, learning the tricks of his trade, as well as being able to listen to his entire discography. The updated site includes the SvD forum, SvD shop, guestbook, his monthly hour long DJ mix and an exclusive members section which offers exclusive bonus content. Podcast 92: Yaya | A Summer of exclusive podcast mixes from We Love Space.. Sundays' resident DJ's Some notorious electronic music talents have started their careers as percussionists. And so did Yaya, but his tale is different to all the rest. His new release for Desolat takes a unique, upbeat approach to 4/4 beats: combining heartfelt Benin influences - samples from dialogue and traditional ballads - with the stretched-out tension and release of Balearic and the bubbling pops and stutters of tech house, plus the occasional kickback to a Commodore64 high score melody. Raised in Turin, Italy, rhythm was his lifeblood for Yassin Ligali, also known as Yaya, from an early age. His father was the lead vocalist and percussionist for M’Bamina, a band consisting of musicians from Benin, Zaire, Italy and Cameroon. M’Bamina released eight albums, collaborated with artists like Manu Dibango and Salif Keita, were sponsored by Paco Rabanne and played all over Africa, including a show for the presidents of Senegal and France. Their final show was with James Brown in Paris in 1985 - the year Yaya was born. Well-versed in his father’s legacy, Yaya grew up playing drums and djembe, and at the age of 15, began performing as a percussionist in Turin clubs. Just one year later, he was already DJing, playing funk, soul, afrobeat, house and garage. Manu Dibango and Fela Kuti found a spot in his crate next to records by Masters at Work and Dimitri from Paris: contrasts of rhythm and structure that pervade his music to this very day. | 9 8 10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Podcast 90: Michael Morph | A sample quote from a review of Brighton hotshot Michael Morph’s previous output: “Crikey. The first thing I think when I hear this is that my guts are about to drop through the floor. This is some serious bass”As this bombastic statement accurately suggests, Morph’s music is no wallflower. It’s not one to sit in the background and hope that you engage with its subtle, delicate stylings. It’s balls-to-the-wall, bold, colourful stuff that demands your attention and compels you to dance. His debut album ‘Something For The Weakened’ is a riot of riff-fuelled electro house, cool breakbeat, sprightly house, brash synth-pop, squelchy hip-house and wondrous electronica that looks set to propel him into the wider musical consciousness. Something like early Groove Armada meddling with a cookbook of musical recipes from the post nu-rave zeitgeist, it’s as refreshing as it is energetic. Michael Morph’s career began DJing and producing in his native Nottingham, before he headed for the oft-sunny shores of the South Coast in order to immerse himself in a more musical surrounding. In the years when he was founding his feet, he even found himself selling gas door-to-door with Crazy P’s Chris, all in order to support his love of producing. It paid off, eventually leading to a signing to acclaimed London label Pure Mint, and since then has found support from the likes of Laurent Garnier, James Lavelle, Hyper, Freq Nasty, Dave Spoon, Rennie Pilgrem and Annie Nightingale with his eclectic electronic beats. His previous singles, included on this album, have been garnered with high marks from all the key dance music press, not to mention “one to watch” style features from I-DJ and DJMag. The Crowd C’est Beau crossed over into the breaks scene at large thanks to remixes from Aquasky and Orbital’s Phil Hartnoll (in his Long Range guise), as well as Crazy P themselves, while the super-hot hip-house collaboration with lesbian Christian rap outfit Yo Majesty Do What You Want enjoyed widespread success and a slamming remix from Deekline. His most recent release, the raucous Go Cat Go! also features in all its bleepin’ electro glory. His wide musical tastes are reflected in the album, as is his refreshingly optimistic nature – he says of the state of the music industry at the present: “I don’t care what anyone says. There’s rarely a week that goes by where I haven’t heard some piece of music that totally blows my socks off” This is an album that could only have been produced by someone with such a bold never-say-die attitude, and is without a doubt one to add to that undergarment-blasting pile of musical genius. 1. Shrokh Sound Of K Feat. Toyin Taylor - Love Happens (Supersonic Lovers Dub) 2. Jay Shepheard - Add Arp 3. Heavy Deviance - Day To Day (Michael Morph's Freakinout Mix) 4. Podcast 89: Plump DJs | Plump DJs (Lee Rous and Andy Gardner) are a DJ and producer team in electronic dance music. Early pioneers of the breakbeat genre in electronic music, the Plump DJs have diversified in recent years to incorporate new styles such as electro, house and bass music. Their sound is still widely thought to maintain a breakbeat aesthetic, but their productions and DJ sets have become stylistically broader. Throughout the 2000s, they released a string of singles and remixes of well-known dance music names such as Fatboy Slim, Orbital, Deadmau5 and the Stanton Warriors. Lee Rous and Andy Gardner met at proto-breakbeat label Freskanova in west London in the late 1990s. Gardner was making music with Matt Cantor from The Freestylers, and Rous was DJing at and promoting the Passenger nights in Kings Cross. Their first release together, "Plump Chunks/Electric Disco", came out on Finger Lickin' Records in 1999. When they released the "A Plump Night Out" album – basically a live DJ mix featuring their own original music – they really began to achieve international notoriety. The Plump DJs were asked by dance music culture magazine Mixmag to mix their February 2001 cover CD, which they called Elastic Breaks. Soon after, in May, they released a two-CD mix compilation called Urban Underground and in February 2003 they produced the eighth album in the FabricLive series for the acclaimed London venue. Their artist album Eargasm was released in July 2003 and featured synthesizer pioneer Gary Numan and Lamb chanteuse Louise Rhodes. They began a quarterly residency at Fabric, running their own Eargasm nights at the London club, and secured placings in the DJ magazine Top 100 DJs list and won a multiple Breakspoll awards. In 2008, they rebranded their Fabric night, calling it Headthrash after their latest album and opening up the music policy to other styles apart from breakbeat. Their DJ sets and productions began changing accordingly, and the four-deck live DJ show they developed allowed them to pull off more creative mixes in clubs and at festivals such as Coachella, Glastonbury, and Skolbeats. In 2009, their contract ended with Finger Lickin' Records and they signed to release a double-CD post-breaks compilation on the Global Underground series. They released the "My Hi Tops" single on the Global Underground imprint, too. In 2010, the Plump DJs began releasing material on new London-based label Grand Hotel. They have also become one of the label's new residents at events held at Fabric and Matter nightclubs. Their recent remixes have been more eclectic with artists such as Deadmau5, Dave Spoon, and the Stanton Warriors. Podcast 87: Marco Bailey | 'Rude Boy' Marco grew up in a small village in Belgium. Nothing much happened there really, but he did learn that one doesn't achieve much without working hard. He is a true hedonist but a workaholic as well. Marco loves to work hard and spin records as much as possible; sleeping is for later. Therefore, his colleagues know him for his no-nonsense & ass-kicking mentality. At the age of 12, Marco wanted nothing more than to become a sportsman. Motocross and competitive cycling were his passions until injuries made it impossible to continue and Marco soon had a new obsession, music, then shortly after that DJing. His burning all consuming drive can only be calmed by getting into the music. A positive result of this is seen on a daily basis in the studio, where together with his best friend Tom Hades he works on tracks and OJ sets, puzzling just as long as it takes to get it to sound right and release the right energy. Marco calls this his 'positive disorder', Positive because it gives meaning to his life. He is constantly on the road or at work in the studio and doesn't take his job lightly. He invests all of his energy to make sure he can give the best possible performance to his audiences all around the World. Having a superstar status in Belgium, he travels the world playing the biggest events as well as the small intimate clubs. His mixture of party techno, minimal and electronic house means he is a permanent fixture at all major European festivals and clubs. With love, hard work and fantastic sounds he has succeeded in gaining worldwide recognition. Playing events like Extrema Outdoor (NL), Awakenings (NL), I Love Techno (BE), Nature One (DE), Wire (JP), Monegros (SP) and clubs such as Zouk (SG), Ageha (JP), Space (ES), Industrial Copera (ES) and Chinese Laundry (AU) he has made clear that he still is a big force to recon with. Killer releases on Intec Rec, Primate, Zync & Tortured, confirmed his strong reputation as a producer over the last eight years. He has since set up MB Elektronics & MB Selektions to release high quality music and remixes by none other than Adam Beyer, Umek, Ben Sims, Smith & Selway, Claude Young, Christian Varela, Redhead, Axel Karakasis and Takaaki Itoh. November 2009 saw the MB labels 55th release. In 2000 he joined forces with Christian Varela to set up Pornographic Recordings, a respected outlet to give unknown talent a chance to release their music. After a short hiatus where both parties concentrated on their own careers the label is back up and running with releases from Joseph Capriati and Cristian Varela. The Pornographic parties, which are a great success in Spain, are continuing to become bigger and better around the World. Marco Bailey does not like to think in boxes but more outside the box. Although he has an expansive taste in music, techno keeps intriguing him. Despite techno growing into a bigger genre with its sub-styles in minimal, tech house and hard techno, he still discovers fascinating records in every style. This is the reason Marco's sound is so diverse and surprising. The slight change of both his production and DJ-ing styles has led to a release on John Digweed's Bedrock Records (Jungle Laps, October 2009). He has just signed with Bedrock for another 2 releases, which are to be released in February and March 2010. His releases on Carl Cox's Intec Records are planned for April and May 2010. Besides these, he will release new tracks on Dataworkz UK and his own label MB Elektronics Recordings. With these upcoming releases he's looking to add another big chapter to his already very long list of releases dating back to the end of the nineties. marcobailey.com myspace.com/marcobailey | 5 7 10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Podcast 85: Nic Fanciulli | Nic joined the music world at 16, where he worked in the local record shop and DJ’d in the local bars, in his hometown of Maidstone, Kent. It was here that he earned his first proper break courtesy of the town's house institution ClubClass. Aged just twenty Nic became main room resident for the night he remains fully committed to. Nic’s ClubClass residency would form the launch pad for his future success. Nic welcomed many legendary names to the night such as Deep Dish, Pete Tong, John Digweed and X-Press 2, all of whom were blown away his use of deep techy sounds, acid b-lines and dark melodic grooves. The residency also gave Nic the opportunity to play at different times of the night, allowing him to develop his own sound as well as develop a tremendous understanding of what is expected from a DJ. Fast forward to 2006 and Nic boasts a portfolio of residencies across the globe that is both testament to his talent and versatility. Starting in the USA, Nic previously held a quarterly resident at Space in Miami, undoubtedly one of the finest nightclubs on the planet. With one Space in the bag, another comes in the form of that legendary terrace in Ibiza for which Nic now plays nearly every Sunday in the summer. This resulted in the headline “Terrace Kings” which Nic achieved alongside Paul Woolford on their DJ Magazine cover story in August 2006. He also held a residency at the magnificent Il Muretto in Venice and finally back to Britain, where Nic has been responsible for ClubClass developing from a provincial club event, to one of the UK’s finest and most influential house nights. ClubClass then went to the Ministry Of Sound in London, which has given Nic an excellent platform in which to showcase his music, as well as the opportunity to play alongside the likes of Danny Tenaglia, Rolando and Funk D’ Void. March 2008 sees Nic starting a brand new night called Atomic at the esteemed club The End in London. Nic is in good company, The End’s has fellow resident holders include Laurent Garnier and Sven Vath. Nic's production and remix work alongside Andy Chatterley, under Skylark and its bastard son Buick Project, has proved fundamental in pushing him through as both an artist and DJ. Essential new tune status is a regular occurrence for Nic’s productions and he has been called upon to remix a plethora of acts including Underworld, Tiefschwarz, Unkle, Kylie and Deep Dish. Critical acclaim doesn’t get much better than a Grammy nomination and exactly what they got in 2007 when Buick Project was nominated for their remix of Tracey Thorn/Tiefschwarz track ‘Damage’. Add this to successful releases for Renaissance and it’s clear that Nic enjoys a very busy studio schedule. Working with Renaissance has now become common place for Nic after he followed the likes of Sasha, Digweed and Deep Dish, by releasing a compilation on their legendary series in 2005. The mix received huge props from journalists and clubbers alike, was backed by a thirty date world tour and sold thousands worldwide. Another string to Nic’s impeccable bow comes in the form of Saved Records which launched in October 2004. Widely regarded as one of the leading cutting edge labels on the scene, Saved has gone on to release compositions from both established producers such as Zoo Brazil, Paolo Mojo and Audiofly, to up and coming talent such as James Talk and Shafunkers, with remixes being delivered from the likes of Alex Smoke and Paul Woolford. "There is such an untapped pool of talent across the world at the moment that I want to help the new kids coming through get the recognition their music rightly deserves" says Nic. 2007 saw Nic join forces with James Zabiela for their One+One alliance, causing something of a press frenzy they toured across the globe, made some original productions in the form of ‘No Pressure’ and | 27 6 10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Podcast 86: Mauro Picotto | Mauro Picotto is an Italian DJ who has released over 600 productions and numerous remixes, and to date has sold over six million copies worldwide. He has played the best clubs with the most famous DJ’s on the globe, as well as having participated in all the major events, from Love Parade to Creamfields, MTV Festival, Winter Olympics in Turin, Ultra, Time Warp and Awakenings. One minute the stallion is spinning to a packed out 45,000-seater football stadium in Amsterdam and the next he’s playing to 18,000 in the middle of the Amazonian jungle at seven in the morning, with parrots flying overhead - Mauro is a man who is keen to break boundaries and isn’t afraid of change as he returns to the fray, bolder and more forward thinking than ever before Mauro began his career in 1984, at the tender age of eighteen, at a club in Piedmont called Top Sound. A chance meeting there with Daniele Davoli (there to promote his Black Box single Ride On Time) swung open the doors of production to this wide-eyed, upcoming DJ. His first released track ‘We Gonna Get’, produced under the name RAF, became a Top 20 across much of Europe – a young Picotto had well and truly caught the electronic music bug. Following his studies he devoted himself full time to his passion as a DJ and in 1988 he became a finalist in the Italian DMC, now a world-renowned brand and competition. In 1989 he won the Walky Cup Competition, broadcast on TV, which further cemented his growing reputation as the best thing to come out of Italy since the Lamborghini – but more humble, down to earth and less flashy. Substance over style is the key to Picotto’s work. 1998 saw him make his bid for UK stardom, with the release of the inescapable Gatecrasher anthem ‘Lizard’ a record that, for many, summed up the hegemony of the emerging trance sound. The track ended up being a Top 30 hit and was followed by two further instalments in the reptilian trilogy, namely ‘Iguana’ and ‘Komodo’. Komodo notched Picotto another chart hit, entering at Number 11, as well as a performance on Top Of The Pops. Mauro was the first DJ to ever play live on the show – this coupled with the release of the groundbreaking singles pushed Mauro out as the highest charting Italian DJ’s to enter the DJ magazine top 100 poll and as a beacon for the emerging trance scene. In 2001 he embarked upon a change of direction, sound and eclecticism, leaving Media records and creating Bakerloo and the label Alchemy. His productions would vary in genres from dance to trance, the most sophisticated techno to an evolution of all that is homemade music. It is this ethos that Mauro prides himself on when producing and mixing – a true, un-altered music fan in its purest sense. ‘I used to play 6-hr sets at Gatecrasher’ Mauro explains ‘but I began to grow up and the generation of people I was playing to was growing up with me. I began to make the transition into techno because it felt right and I loved the music.” Two artist albums, ‘The Double Album’ and ‘The Others’, came next, in 2000 and 2002 respectively, as well as remixes and productions for the likes Freddie Mercury, Jimmy Sommerville, Pet Shop Boys and U2. Unfortunately it didn’t take long for other producers to start to cash in on the Picotto sound and soon everybody was chowing on his tough, uncompromising style. Having paid his dues, and notching up a string of hits, it was time for Picotto’s metamorphosis from trance star to sub-cultural techno superhero to begin. In 2003 Mauro Picotto created Meganite - Electronic Music Lifestyle - a successful club party linked to the best DJs at the time. For the Meganite event top artists known today as Chris Liebing, Marco Carola and Adam Beyer all played alongside Mauro as Meganite resident DJs. Since the very beginning, the selection of artists chosen for Meganite has been of the highest quality for an evening mainly b | 27 6 10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Podcast 17: Prok & Fitch | We are pleased to be able to bring this weeks podcast from Brighton boys Ben Prok & James Fitch. Listen here or download via iTunes.Brighton boys Ben Prok & James Fitch joined forces after meeting in a record store in 2006. Both DJ’s in their own right with 18 years experience between them, they discovered that their tastes were very similar and became the formidable DJ duo we know today. After much success they decided to extend the spark from their sets behind the decks, into the studio: the creative synergy and hard work that ensued lead to the conception of their first creation - Outro Lugar. The debut was instantly picked up by none other than Roger Sanchez, who gave it some serious spins and signed it to his Stealth label. Hype built quickly around the release – and accelerated Prok & Fitch’s exposure, leading to a prime slot at the 2008 Miami Winter Music Conference, where Prok & Fitch joined Sanchez as special guests. Fast forward to present day and Prok & Fitch have an extensive portfolio both behind the boards and the decks – with remix credits including 2 national top 10 hits in the last 6 months, working with artists such as Utah Saints, Freemasons, Shamus Haji, Kraak & Smaak, Funkerman, Cevin Fisher, Funkagenda, Hoxton W***es, Filthy Rich, Kid Massive, Shikstylko, Freejak, Bruce Aisher to name but a few! Their sound is bouncy and energy fuelled, drawing elements from all genres of house music, making themselves suitable for all floors. Whether it is a main room full of ladies or the dark confines of a sweaty after party; they play for the dance floor and never cease to please any crowd! | 11 1 09 | Free | View In iTunes |
