ExplicitThe Golden Child | It’s a bit of a ramble this week as both Lee and Dan didn’t have their usual painfully researched and extensively comprehensive notes to work from. Obviously the boy’s pure professionalism was enough to get them through, especially as they’ve long anticipated and planned for situations like this. You may have thought that the midmoclub’s previously shambolic nature was a result of Lee and Dan’s incompetence. But no! It was all an intricate plan to reduce your expectations to a point where you’ll basically accept any old claptrap. And let’s face it – it’s worked. Suckers. Trailers discussed this week: Iron Sky 21 Jump Street Safe Animated Napoeon Dynamite Lee and Dan should have also discussed the Brave trailer again as they told Kasey they would. However they forgot. Sorry Kasey. The movie discussed this week was the 1986 Eddie Murphy action comedy – The Golden Child. Listen to the podcast here: There’s no regular podcast next week, but you will be getting a sneak preview of some of the movies we’ll be watching over the next ten episodes – and also a few choice titbits from the midmoclub cutting room floor. ExplicitSupergirl | We’re limping in just under the line this week, but technically its still Wednesday (at least in the UK) and so this weeks episode isn’t actually late – just accurately timed. In this weeks podcast Lee and and Dan wrestle with the issue of Scottish independence, leaky fillings, and the boys both consider joining the secret service. They also take a look at the trailers for: Ghost Rider Lockout Brave And the new Honda advert Oh yeah, and they also talk about the 1984 movie Supergirl. Why not listen to the podcast. Go on, you know you want to. Next week Lee and Dan will be putting on their best Eddie Murphy impressions and watching Golden Child. Tweet | 1 2 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitBig Trouble in Little China – 100th episode | A drug addled Lee with toothache joins Dan for the giant, Huge, MASSIVE 100th episode featuring the all time classic and favourite of Lee (and apparently all of you) Big Trouble in Little China! The boys discuss the history of having your teeth pulled out and the horror of the student dentist, as well as a discourse on hookers and your obsession with all things Frankenhooker. The trailers that Lee made Dan watch this week: Wrath of the Titans Act of Valor Haywire Red Tails Lee and Dan also comment on SOPA, Netflix in the UK and celebrity spotting. Apologies for the quality of the sound, Dan is very loud and Lee is very quiet… Dan is overcompensating for something: So what do you think of the podcast, did any of the hosts have an extraordinarily wrong opinion?? Let us know in the comments and come back next week for Supergirl!!! Tweet | 24 1 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitBattle Beyond the Stars | In order to ease everyone back into the brave new non-Star Trek Midnight Movie Club world Lee and Dan decided to stay in the realm of science fiction. Dan regrets this decision. Will we have a new sulk on our hands to rival the likes of Wrath of Khan or The Sure Thing? Maybe. (Actually I already know the answer as I have already heard the podcast). As well as Battle Beyond the Stars Dan and Lee discus the greatness (perhaps this is stretching the definition) of the following trailers: Slave Girls Yor: The Hunter from the Future G.I. Joe: Retaliation The boys also discuss their thoughts on the new DC logo, the fact that The Avengers is going to be told from Captain America’s perspective, which movie makes Lee cry every time, lack of Benji on the podcast and foreign films. Next week it’s the big 100 episode as we’re watching Big Trouble in Little China. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAYY!!!!! Tweet | 18 1 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitStar Trek (2009) | All good things must come to an end, even Star Trek movie marathons. We’ve laughed, Dan cried, Lee questioned if it was a good idea in the first place (he’s totally convinced it was) but in the end it has all built up to this last installment featuring the J.J. Abrams helmed Star Trek. Fair warning this is a long podcast, possibly the longest that Dan’s bladder or Lee’s remarkably limited attention span has permitted. All we can suggest is that you skip out on work, hide out in your local school’s storage attic, pace out your sandwiches (you have a long way to go) and enjoy… In case you still need convincing Dan and Lee are also discussing Lego, Girl’s Lego, Bratz, Storm Troopers, the new Star Trek casting, Lord of the Rings, Mexican eBay, wrestling masks and the following trailers: The Hunger Games MIB3 The Avengers John Carter of Mars The Expendables 2 Wow that’s a lot of podcast, almost too much gingerbread. Join the boys as next week they watch Battle Beyond the Stars. Tweet | 10 1 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitStar Trek Nemesis | Happy 2012 everyone! Lee and Dan are back this week and are talking about the final Star Trek: The Next Generation film Nemesis. Nemesis was a box office and critical disaster so after so many hours of Star Trek films how does the film shape up to their expectations? This week in geek Lee and Dan discuss the following trailers: The Dark Knight Rises The Hobbit Prometheus The Grey They also chat briefly about Batman Arkham City and the very exciting weight loss challenge going on in the Midmoclub labs! So what did you guys think of Star Trek Nemesis? Was it really as bad as people have said? Do you think there ever will be another Next Generation film? How was your New Years?? Did you do anything geeky?!? Do you think there are too many questions??!? Join us next week as we watch Star Trek (the reboot one!!). Tweet | 3 1 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitStar Trek: Insurrection | Hurrah it’s the Midnight Movie Club Podcast Christmas special!!!! This week we’re reviewing that classic yuletide movie Star Trek: Insurrection. You know – that one where Santa goes missing and so Ryker and Picard save Christmas by reversing the polarity of the Jeffries Tubes in order to use the Enterprise to deliver all the presents to the girls and boys. OK, maybe not. Due to poor planning and general lack of management we didn’t actually get round to watching a Christmas film this week, and so Star Trek: Insurrection is as good as you are going to get I’m afraid. There are a some sleigh bells at the beginning of the show however. So all that’s left to do is wish everyone a Merry Christmas from us here at the Midnight Movie Club. We hope you have a great one. Here’s the podcast: We’re unlikely to put out a podcast next week, but we should be able to manage one in the gap between Christmas and the New Year. If all goes to plan we’ll be watching Star Trek: Nemesis we’ll see you then. Oh and remember – for all your Slaithwaite and Colne Valley Events and News why not visit Dan’s new blog – Slawit.org. You know it makes sense. Tweet | 14 12 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitStar Trek: First Contact | Welcome to the all sex and drugs episode of the Midnight Movie Club oh and the boys are watching Star Trek: First Contact (which has very little to do with either but Lee claims a very loose connection to rock and or roll). Medicine hour with Lee and Dan as we try to diagnose what ails Lee, (we settle on gall bladder – despite not really know what one is or does). Star Wars Clone Wars will no longer be mentioned as it’s a given that Lee is continuing to watch it. Lee has been however playing Uncharted 3 and it’s ok. Dan has been not completing Deus Ex Human Revolution, X-Men Evolution (we’re not linking to that on Amazon because we’ve heard it’s very very bad) and a Warhammer game (?). Lee consults with Matt on games decisions. So after a discussion around how Dan doesn’t know who James Cromwell is (obviously Jack Bauer’s father) things do get a little Star Trek geeky as Lee and Dan over analyse little tiny bits of the plot and technology involved in First Contact: Jim Robinson from Neighbours (sorry international listeners) arises as an actor to watch in the vein of Al Leong. Ensign Dave FTW. Join us next week as Lee and Dan watch Star Trek: Insurrection (the revenge of Ensign Dave…) Tweet | 6 12 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitStar Trek: Generations | back from his holiday (although why he bothered going at all is beyond me as he already lives abroad) and so we managed to bash out yet another sparkling episode of the podcast. You truly are blessed. This week we’re talking about : Themed theme parks Full Metal Alchemist Lee liking Star Wars Episode I more than Ghostbusters And a load of other things that I can’t remember. We also hurl abuse at our friends at The Scuttercast and MASH 4077 podcast, because that’s just the way we roll. Oh yeah, we talk about Star Trek: Generations a bit too. Join us next week when we’re going to be cracking on with our Star Trek marathon and watching Star Trek: First Contact. Tweet | 30 11 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitThe Mighty Ducks | This podcast was recorded quite a while ago, but due to our extensive quality control policies and procedures it was held back while our team of production assistants worked 24 hours a day to hone and sculpt it to perfection. Well, either that or Dan forgot he hadn’t uploaded it yet In week in geek this episode we talk about Steven Spielberg, the differences between home theatre and the cinema going experience, and why woodpeckers don’t get brain damage when they bore holes in trees. We then spend some time talking about the rather excellent 1992 movie The Mighty Ducks starring Emilio Estevez, Joshua Jackson, and Joss Ackland. But after that things take a dark turn. A very dark turn. Be warned. It doesn’t look like there will be a podcast next week, as Lee is on holiday and it’s not likely the boys will have chance to record. Service should return to normal the week after however. Tweet | 23 11 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitFirst Daughter | This week Lee and Dan recorded the greatest podcast ever produced by anyone anywhere. No really. More awesome than ninjas riding jet-skies with flame throwers. The single best podcast that any human being has ever had drift down upon their eardrums. And then tragedy struck. Horrible awful miserable tragedy. Dan’s computer died and the podcast of glory was lost forever. The boys tried to recapture the previous wonder and joy but alas the podcast you will now listen to is no good. Yup, the normal standard. Sorry. Also sorry for the movie this week… Next week Lee and Dan continue the trend of not watching the planned films and watching Dawson’s Creek alumni films… The Mighty Ducks! You can apparently watch it now right there on YouTube (which doesn’t sound right to us but you know…) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czdOpucyuVQ Bet that video disappears soon, see you all next week! ExplicitThe Big Bang | Friends don’t let friends look up obscure films on Wikipedia. That being said Dan has let Lee get carried away and the boys watched the film The Big Bang. You wanted to say Theory at the end of that didn’t you? This week in week of geek: There is mocking of Dan’s failure to get a promotion (but he still loves his work place lots) Lee has a copy of Shop til you drop Dan is reviewing a game – Disney Universe Dan bought some Sea Monkeys… except they aren’t they’re Swamp Monsters which aren’t Sea Monkeys Lowest of the low = Dan Lee went to work, bought Aquaman #2 wasn’t able to read it yet Johnny English 2 the sequel no one asked about There’s a bunch of games that Lee’s looking at but not buying… yet So did The Big Bang prove to be an uncovered gem or did it make Lee sad? Now next week the lesson has not been learnt and Lee and Dan have wandered into the evil garden of Wikipedia + Dawson’s Creek stars = we’re watching First Daughter. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=noaY-7ACqrQ Will you be with us next week and are you intrigued by The Big Bang?? ExplicitStar Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country | Today’s podcast is slightly late as I was a bit tied up preparing for an interview for a job. An interview for a job that I ended up not getting. So if you want to blame someone, blame the interview panel, not me. Not that I’m bitter or anything *grumble mutter grumble* Anyhow, on this weeks podcast we take a look at what the poll has exposed as the most popular Star Trek movie amongst Midnight Movie Club members – Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. So what do we think? Well you’ll have to listen and find out. Next week we’ll be breaking with all midmoclub traditions and reviewing a movie from 2011 – The Big Bang staring Antonio Banderas, Sienna Guilory, and Thomas Kretschmann. Yes, I know, we’re as excited about this as you are. Tweet | 26 10 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitFright Night | So we started with a movie this week that Lee had seen but Dan didn’t, then it was a film that neither Lee or Dan had seen, but now upon further reflection Lee thinks that maybe he had seen this after all. It’s very confusing and frankly Lee wishes he hadn’t brought it up. This week Lee and Dan watched Fright Night as it’s been remade and that’s the “other” movie marathon they are doing in between Star Trek films. This week amongst other things Lee and Dan discuss: More tales of Jones… including Nerf related subjects Skills that Jones now has: Financial ruin Use of the internet Weapons Skills that Lee has: Eating cocoa pops Watching Clone Wars Thoughts on Star Wars Episode III and The Clone Wars Jedi morals Job advice with Dan Lee finished Uncharted 2 in time to play Uncharted 3 The intelligence behind buying an umbrella that looks like a samurai sword and travelling on public transport SeaQuest season 3 Dan’s thoughts on Batman No Man’s Land More DC reboot thoughts Dan stopped playing Red Faction: Thingie and started playing Red Faction: Whatsit Dan’s caught up with Doctor Who and they have a chat about what’s good and what’s bad with it So did Dan spend a lot of time behind the couch? Did Lee actually see this??? Next week we’re back to the final frontier with fan favourite Star Trek VI The Undiscovered Country. What are your thoughts on Fright Night and how awesome is SeaQuest!?! ExplicitStar Trek V The Final Frontier | The Star Trek movie marathon rumbles forward as we hit the William Shatner directed Star Trek V The Final Frontier (and the realisation that we only have a couple of original Trek films left). In this week’s week of geek there is: A discussion of English comedy Jones is trying to financially cripple Lee The best segue to discuss Segways – discover Dan’s thoughts on Segways and Lee’s stance on gyroscopes Dan has been working, though he did sneak in a couple of Batman comics The DC Reboot, Catwoman’s bras and the state of comics in general No one likes Dora the Explorer apparently Lee’s up to date with Haven and the comic The Boys Dan’s playing Red Faction and Lee’s playing Driver: San Francisco as well as picking up Ico and Shadow of the Colossos. After the Star Trek discussion Lee and Dan also discuss Calendar rage 2012 world ending people Moon landing conspiracies The film Wanted So does Lee get upset with Dan and how hard does he have to defend the indefensible Star Trek V?? Next week Dan boldly goes where he’s not gone before and watches the film Frightnight. Lee’s seen it once before. Let us know your thoughts about Star Trek V and anything that was discussed in week of geek!!! Have we gone too far with the Doctor McCoy obsession yet? Tweet | 4 10 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitPlanet of the Apes | In the continuing quest to alienate our listeners Lee and Dan are watching fan favourite Planet of the Apes and it’s not pretty folks. No punches are pulled. But before they get to the movie there is of course the week in geek: Lee had a migraine before recording this… ummm no real pop culture reference but he does bang on about it The further adventures of Jones There’s a language barrier problem Dan’s cheating at Portal but Lee justifies it for him Lee versus the zombies… from behind the couch… flinching Lee’s been reading the comic book series The Boys Lee’s also been watching Star Wars on blu-ray Join us next week as things take a turn for the worse as Lee and Dan visit the Final Frontier in Star Trek V which is considered by many as the worst. Lee does warn that he’s a Star Trek V apologist. Tweet | 27 9 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

But boy oh boy do we have a corker for you this week! THRILL at Dan dicing with death MARVEL at Lee’s amazing psychic skills BOO at Dylans’ dastardly behaviour on the Facebook group. GASP in amazement at the brand new perky promo for the Fantasy Movie Podcast And we talk about the Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. The one with the whales and the nuclear wessles. Hurrah! ExplicitConan the Barbarian | This week Lee and Dan return to the films that have been or are being remade with the skull crushing Conan the Barbarian and there’s a chance that the Wheel of Pain will replace the affection Lee and Dan have for hovercrafts! On the week of geek: Lee’s been watching the Stephen King inspired Haven Dan ate a sausage sandwich whilst watching Fringe Dan and Evan have been playing Mario Kart and Dan is very proud of his son’s prowess Lee bought a Star Trek the reboot Phaser after going out to try and buy a tricorder Dan’s Lego Millenium Falcon arrived and has been built and now Dan’s at a loss with what to do DC’s Justice League reboot Dan’s been watching a bunch of sit-coms Hippies Always Sunny in Philadelphia Ideal Thoughts on the new Doctor Who episodes So how did Conan stand up by Crom?! ExplicitStar Trek II & III The Search for Spock | Continuing the Star Trek movie marathon the boys are watching Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan (kind of) and Star Trek III The Search for Spock. This week in Week of Geek: There is a pretzel stick incident that may or may not be Dan’s fault Lee and Dan marvel at the widespread adoption of the term “streaky bacon” Dan’s been buying logs of wood for manly purposes (building things) There is no sign of the Lego Millenium Falcon Dan is cheap when it comes to postage Dan discusses the world tyre markets Dan has a blog (you should go look at it) Lee has been watching Star Trek The Original Series blu-rays The Star Trek II Wrath of Khan podcast So does Star Trek II and III shape up better than The Motion Picture? ExplicitFootloose | Despite the promise of Star Trek II and III Lee and Dan are embarking on a second movie marathon that will run every second week whilst the Star Trek marathon is running at the same time!!!! The week in geek features: Dan finished season two of Fringe which features two of Lee’s favourite things Pacey from Dawson’s Creek and Spock… from Star Trek. Dan bought a Lego Millenium Falcon!!! Dan also shares his secret for convincing his wife that it’s a sound investment – it involves some sort of timesheet dodginess Lee is all worked up about the Eureka cancellation… except he doesn’t really care (?) Lee saw Conan the Barbarian and was unmoved. He insults it by comparing it to the Clash of the Titans remake. Kiddies shouldn’t be watching Conan. Mention of robot picture quiz. WARNING: The last 15 minutes of the podcast concerns itself with male genitals for reasons that will become evident during the podcast. Next week Lee and Dan WILL be discussing Star Trek II and III. ExplicitStar Trek: The Motion Picture (The Director’s Edition) | It’s finally here! The beginning of the Midnight Movie Club’s massive Star Trek marathon beginning with the 1979 film Star Trek: The Motion Picture, well actually the 2001 version of the film that had minor special effects added as well as a different edit (although it is just as long as the original version – just ask Dan!). This week in Week of Geek: Dan is very happy in his new job despite having to go to it more than once a month In Lee’s office the arms race has heated up and his team are now carrying fully loaded Nerf weaponry The very fine people of Mexico have to suffer poor impersonations Lee’s been revisiting the Lethal Weapon series Dan’s reports back on Arrietty, the latest Studio Ghibli film Dan enjoyed the Captain America film and it continues the current tradition of Marvel adaptations Marvel fatigue versus what DC is doing Lee enjoyed Rise of the Planet of the Apes and is trying to convince Dan This week sees the launch of the “safe word” element, will Lee need to use it? Is this everything Dan fears? Find out in this week’s podcast: So next week the advertised Star Trek II & III will not be playing because the internet discovered that Lee has never seen Footloose. So next week the boys will be heading off to small town America where the dancing is banned!! So what did you think this week? ExplicitUnder Siege | It’s back to the action aisle for Lee and Dan! Since the boys have featured Jean Claude Van Damme punching out a snake in Hard Target we all thought it only fair that Steven Seagal get a run on the podcast and when asked the office could only think of Under Siege 2 so they went with the lessor known Under Siege. Dan has started his new job Lee has medical condition that causes him discomfort if he doesn’t have ALL Star Trek filmed material at his fingertips Lee considers Dan more entertaining than the Star Trek: Voyager episode “The Thaw“ Economically you’re losing money by not buying the Star Trek Original Series Blu-rays Dan and Lee are very excited by the Avatar series Dan tried to make a joke about Two and a Half Men Lee’s seen the new Thundercats but never watched the old, Dan gives gifts so he can borrow them Dan shares his thoughts on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 Chocolate frogs Minor Harry Potter ending spoilers Lee’s never seen a Harry Potter film in the cinema Dan’s going off to see the new Studio Ghibli film (expect a report back next week) Dan is embarking on the world of Jack Bauer and 24 Dan is writing a radio play. Lee is not invited to take part. So does Seagal serve up a superior action film? Next week Lee and Dan embark on a massive movie marathon and begin with Star Trek: The Motion Picture. ExplicitIndiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull | What an amazing run of films that Lee and Dan have been watching with the amazing Indiana Jones trilogy but all good things must come to an end and that end is Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. In this week of geek Lee and Dan discuss: Shittiness and Batman Jean-Paul Valley: the replacement Batman Dan is an early un-adopter of Google+ X-Men First Class The live action Star Blazers film Space Battleship Yamato Transformers 3 and Dan’s advice on how to watch it Lee highlights how much he doesn’t want to pay to watch Transformers 3 Now it should be noted that if you really love Indiana Jones 4 we at the Midnight Movie Club are very happy for you and don’t wish to take any of your enjoyment of said film away however you may find this podcast unsettling. Perhaps you should go listen to the other Indy podcasts again or of course come back next week! ExplicitIndiana Jones and the Last Crusade | Apologies for the late publishing of the podcast as was explained over on the Facebook page there was an issue with a Fossa and Terry the intern that looks like a Lemur. This week Lee and Dan finish what they started by completing the Indiana Jones trilogy… What? Another one…? That doesn’t sound right. In week of geek Dan and Lee discuss: the mystery of the fortune cookie Lee marvels at the idea of character development in a television series (Falling Skies) Dan slightly disses SeaQuest DSV Dan is going to see Transformers 3 (he’s since actually gone and watched it) (Lee manages to discuss robot testicles… again) Dan also contemplates watching Bridesmaids and they discuss its advertising Dan is watching the Human Target and says it’s really really good. Lee disappointed there’s no The Bodyguard series. Lee and Dan get into comic book crossovers and Flashpoint Lee misses Harold the hunchback and Ace the Bat Hound. Did Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade live up to expectations? Listen and find out! Stick around for Dan’s thanks to all the Midmoclub iTunes reviewers! ExplicitIndiana Jones and the Temple of Doom | Anything goes this week as Lee and Dan journey to the deep dark historically and culturally inaccurate mysterious India as they this week they watch Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. In week of geek Dan and Lee discuss: Lee makes up a delightful limerick featuring Dan’s name and then completely balls up using it Dan is called out regarding his wife listening to the podcast Dan isn’t much of a fan of older artwork in Batman comic books before 1995 Dan is still playing Batman Arkham Asylum Lee has lost a lot of his spare minutes to the ridiculously addictive Tiny Tower Lee has also been watching The Larry Sanders Show There were no new comics at the local comic book store for Lee MySpace is making a come back and Lee is leading the way Dan is weary of Twitter but is excited about Google+ kind of. Just a note that there is some sailor language in the podcast (you know swearing… you know the F word) so you should use discretion when playing to your co-workers or innocent family members, i think there’s only one or two occurrences but still. Lots of interesting analysis regarding the middle child of the Indiana Jones trilogy lets keep the discussion going here in the comments or over on Facebook! Next week rather predictably Lee and Dan are off to see Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Tweet | 12 7 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitRaiders of the Lost Ark | Lee and Dan went to great lengths to bring this week’s podcast to you. Lee was suffering from the dreaded man flu and is more than a little surprised to have pulled through with no divorce to speak of. Dan on the other hand sat in his little recording room and watched the furniture melt around him due to the extreme heat… well extreme for him anyway. The end result you’ll have to judge for yourself! In week of geek Dan and Lee discussed: Dan’s been playing Batman Arkham Asylum and Lee expresses his distaste for riddles. Lee and Dan ponder the futility of The Clone Wars when we all know that he will murder in cold blood everyone around him including his padawan. Economics and the reverse tower game Anomaly Warzone Earth Dan has been banned from most major auction sites Lee’s hopes to earn a trophy for sitting through video game credits, Dan spoils Halo for everyone yet to play it Lee just started playing Homefront and praises Superman #712 (though gets the current Superman story lines completely balls’d up) There is promise that Lee and Dan will talk about the DC Universe reboot in the future. The film this week is Raiders of the Lost Ark starring Harrison Ford and directed by Steven Spielberg. So did Lee and Dan get it right? Leave a comment below and let us know!! ExplicitRobin Hood: Prince of Thieves | This week laziness defines the new structure of the Midnight Movie Club as we enter a bold new period of the club of the sameness just shuffled around. In week of geek Lee and Dan discuss: Y: The Last Man – the brilliance of the series and our take on the end The slowest Harry Potter film marathon ever and how Lee is unimpressed by JK Rowling Pottermore (Lee predicts it as a fizzer) Some of Dan’s thoughts on Green Lantern and how Australia doesn’t get to see it for ages 2D tickets outselling 3D tickets – 3D Graph The film this week is of course the Kevin Costner film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Lee watched the Blu-ray special edition and Dan watched the theatrical release. A quick note about the sound quality, Dan feels that the sound levels had some trouble this week and apologises. Lee didn’t notice any problems. ExplicitCaddyshack | On this week’s podcast Lee and Dan are taking a look at the 1980 movie Caddyshack, starring Chevy Chase, Rodney Dangerfield, Bill Murray, and a bunch of other people that we’ve never heard of before – but one of them was in Tron. This weeks three of the best was provided by Claire from Moon in the Gutter, and very good it was too (despite the fact she blatantly cheated). You can also find Claire on twitter as @merialc. No podcast next week, and very possibly the week after that, as we take a little break to have a think about if/how we need to change the podcast at all due to Dan’s new job and Lee’s paucity of time. We will be back shortly however so stay tuned. Anyhow, here’s this weeks podcast: If you have any comments, suggestions, or feedback on the podcast in general, and what you would like to see/not to see going forward then mention them in the comments. I should point out though – we know you don’t like the Star Trek bit (and it’s likely not to return). Tweet | 15 6 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitThe Three Musketeers | This week Lee and I are watching the 1993 film The Three Musketeers staring Charlie Sheen, Kiefer Sutherland, Oliver Platt, Chris O’Donnell, Tim Curry and Rebecca DeMornay. To be honest I’ve only just finished editing the podcast and I still can’t remember what we talked about. I’m pretty sure that we were unpleasant about Chris O’Donnel, showed our ignorance of classic French Literature, and spent some time discussing Lego Batman. Something like that anyway. Lee is far better at writing these show notes, which is annoying as he doesn’t even bother listening to the podcast. Unfortunately due to my general slackness I ended up editing the episode right at the last minute, so as punishment it’s down to me to write the accompanying post. I’m the bloody Igor of this partnership. It’s a disgrace. “All for one” my arse. Anyway – I do remember that the marvelous Jeff from Caddickisms did a stirling job of a Three of Best for us on this episode. Jeff’s also recently jumped on twitter, so you should all go follow him @Caddickisms Here we go: No podcast next week as we take our regular mid-season break. But we’ll be back the week after with Caddyshack. Tweet | 31 5 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitThe one which Lee and Dan don’t watch a movie | What can you say? When you get unpaid interns to do all the office admin work then you get exactly what you pay for. Actually it’s just one of those weeks where Dan and I haven’t been able to line up our times and so we never actually got a chance to watch and talk about The Three Musketeers though rest assured next week we will be back swashbuckling our way through another podcast. In the meantime why not wrap your ears around a super extended Week in Geek as Dan and I chat about everything wrong in comics and some other pop culture thingos: So next we’ll be back, leave us a comment in the comments below and shed your own light on the subject of The Avengers or defend Green Lantern! PS I have no idea what Dan was doing with those songs Tweet | 25 5 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitHudson Hawk | It won the Razzie Award for: Worst director Worst screenplay Worst picture “A movie this unspeakably awful can make an audience a little crazy. You want to throw things, yell at the actors, beg them to stop.” is the way some dude from Rolling Stone described it. Yes that’s right. Lee and Dan are watching the Bruce Willis comedy caper Hudson Hawk. Is it as bad as they say it is? Do Lee and Dan remember it correctly? Will you learn how to recover from temporal narcosis? Will this podcast give you temporal narcosis? Listen to find out!!! Big thanks to Phil for providing his Three of the Best! Next week Lee and Dan are doing a filler episode!!! So no movie next week but plenty of geeky talking bits!!! Tell us what you think of Hudson Hawk or if you’ve managed to avoid temporal narcosis thanks to this podcast!! ExplicitSpeed | In the film Speed 2 Cruise Control Sandra Bullock starred as Annie Porter, a woman who has been lied to by her SWAT team boyfriend Jason Patric and trapped an out-of-control luxury cruise liner whose navigation computers have been reprogrammed by a computer hacker (Willem Dafoe) setting the ship on a collision course with an oil tanker. The week Lee and Dan are watching the lessor known prequel to this film: Speed. Now according to Lee the films Speed, Speed 2 and Citizen Kane all share something in common: none of these films were watched by Lee in the last week. Yes, that’s right it’s only one week into the new season and already Lee hasn’t watched the film. But to cover up Dan does discuss the weather, it’s all very exciting. To be fair Lee did watch the movie about a month or so ago in high definition, although he now wishes he’d watch it on his iPad on the bus which would have been completely meta had Dan not pointed out that most of the film takes place off the bus.. Anyway this week Dan and Lee are watching the 1994 action thriller Speed staring Keanu Reeves, Sandra Bullock and Dennis Hopper. Enjoy! Once again it’s a big thank you to Kasey of The Fantasy Movie Podcast for actually being on Three of the Best this week! Next week Lee and Dan are catching the Bruce Willis comedy Hudson Hawk! In the meantime why not share your own thoughts or somebody else’s in the comments!? Dan prints every single one of them up and hangs them on his wall!! Tweet | 10 5 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitRunaway | We’re back!! It’s an all new season of the Midnight Movie Club and Lee and Dan are fresh off their break from the podcast and are ready to the films that keep you bleary eyed at work the next morning after staying up too late on a school night! In fact they have purposely only been watching brand new films of the highest quality just to keep themselves fresh and ready to dive into the vault to dig up the sometimes less than fresh films of the past! The first film on the agenda is the 1984 science fiction “thriller” Runaway. It stars Tom Selleck, Tom Selleck’s moustache, Kirstie Alley and Gene Simmons… yes THAT Gene Simmons. So you have Magnum PI, Saavik, the bass player from KISS and hat box sized homicidal robots plus it’s all directed and written by the dude who wrote Jurassic Park, how can this film be anything but awesome?!?! Have a listen and see if it lives up to all of its promise: A huge thank you to Kasey of The Fantasy Movie Podcast for almost being on Three of the Best and for providing the voice for our brand new intro!!! Join Lee and Dan next week as they catch the bus and watch Speed! Are you going to track this film down? Have you already seen it?!? Let us know what you thought in the comments!! ExplicitSeason three trailer – can you guess all the films? | Absence does not make the heart grow fonder. Absence makes you lot forget about us and wander off to other podcasts. We at the Midmoclub Institute are well aware of this which is why we are serving up this tasty reminder that we are back next week with all new podcasts!!! Don’t be afraid to openly weep at the sweet sounds of Dan and Lee’s voices and the knowledge that this time next week you’ll be once again held in the warm embrace of the Midnight Movie Club podcast. You can leave comments now declaring your love and/or bragging about picking all of the films. Tweet | 26 4 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitIt’s a bonus! Romancing the Stone with the Casta La Vista boys | Whilst Lee and Dan are finishing sunning themselves and generally lazing around watching films made within the last ten years during their break we thought we’d treat you to a special episode of the Midnight Movie Club. Dan and Lee invited the Chris’s from the podcast Casta La Vista over for a cup of tea and a bit of a chat around the 1984 comedy adventure film Romancing the Stone. The film was directed by Robert Zemeckis and stars Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner and Danny DeVito and was followed up with a sequel called The Jewel of the Nile. Okay enough chit chat go listen to the podcast you’ve been hanging to listen to! Sigh. There now, wasn’t that worth it!? Only another week without the boys and then season three of the Midnight Movie Club kicks off!!! Big thanks to the Casta La Vista boys and you should add them to your listening selection (here’s one to ease you in… starring Lee and Dan!!) Be back in two weeks or be… ummm absent… ummm you know, from the podcast… Damnit. Tweet | 19 4 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitBuffy the Vampire Slayer | Put away your Xander, ignore your Willow and hide your Giles and Spike CDs because this week Dan and Lee are watching the original Buffy The Vampire Slayer film for their Season Two finale! This is the 1992 Fran Rubel Kuzui directed film starring Kirsty Swanson and Luke Perry that came before the acclaimed television series. Now as this is the finale episode there is a remarkable amount of silliness going on and you are not promised a completely coherent podcast like the boys usually serve up… …well you know. A big thanks to Andrew of the podcast Podcast Squared for taking part in the Three of the Best. So the boys are riding off into the sunset for a well earned break, Lee is apparently excited to watch movies made within the last 10 years and Dan is building himself a Blue Beetle costume during his holiday*. What does this mean for you though?!? Well if you can just hang on for a week the boys are joining the Casta La Vista boys in another amazing crossover as they come together to celebrate the film Romancing the Stone. So that’s not next week, but the week after and then you have to wait another week and then Lee and Dan will be back with season 3… or it may be the week after… or ummm ahhhhhhhh Yay holidays!!! Share your thoughts or your hopes and dreams in the comments! *May be a lie. Oh, and excuse us while we claim-my-podcast-in-podbean{scid-bWlkbW9jbHVi-ecid} Tweet | 5 4 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitFrom Dusk Till Dawn | Yup this week Dan and Lee are stealing themselves a camper van, taking hostages and making for the border because this week they are watching the 1996 Robert Rodriguez horror romp From Dusk Till Dawn. Starring George Clooney and (who wrote the screenplay) plus a whole host of Rodriguez and Tarantino regulars this film is a double sided coin that possibly can’t be considered horror simply because it didn’t keep Dan behind the couch for very long. Now there is a strong language warning for this episode as it would have been essentially impossible to discuss this film in any other way. A big thanks this week to CS for sharing his Three of the Best, you can check out his blog at Big thoughts from a small mind. Next week on the podcast Lee and Dan are sticking with the vampire theme for their season finale and watching the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer film. There is also going to be a bunch of silliness. Share your thoughts in the comments!! Tweet | 29 3 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitHard Target | If you change your mind, I’m the first in line Honey I’m still free Take a chance on me If you need me, let me know, gonna be around If you’ve got no place to go, if you’re feeling down If you’re all alone when the pretty birds have flown Honey I’m still free Take a chance on me Gonna do my very best and it ain’t no lie If you put me to the test, if you let me try Take a chance on me (That’s all I ask of you honey) Take a chance on me Yes that’s right this week Lee and Dan are watching the 1993 John Woo action film Hard Target. Starring Jean-Claude Van Damme as Chance Boudreaux (see what we did there?!?!… fine whatevs). It’s a pretty awesome podcast this week so stop gawking at the scary ABBA song lines and listen to the podcast!! Big thanks to Alex this week for taking part in our Three of the Best! Check out his blog “Do it Anyway”. Now next week is possibly the first horror film (there must have been another… maybe Jaws) on the podcast, if you listen carefully you can hear Dan shaking in his boots already!! ExplicitJudge Dredd | Grab your helmet, lawgiver and your lawmaster and bring justice to unruly masses because this week Lee and Dan are visiting the mean streets of Mega City 1 in the 1995 film adaptation of Judge Dredd. Alternatively you can simply hide within a food dispensing robot and hope it all goes away. It won’t though so you might as well just give in to the punishment and listen to the podcast: Many thanks go to Matt Cavendish… no, wait… Caverstone… no, that’s not right… Caverhill! That’s it Caverhill! Many thanks to Matt Caverhill from the blog Culture Kills…wait, I mean cutlery for such a sterling job on both Week in Geek and Three of the Best. Thanks man. ExplicitMr. Mom | This week you need to get fired from your job, be married to a smart intelligent woman who can become the sole breadwinner leaving you some sort of self worth crisis because this week Dan and Lee are visiting the no man’s land of stay at home parenting and watching Mr. Mom. Of course if you are a woman then just reverse the previous sentence and leave your no good man at home whilst you forge an amazing career that he will covet. Yeah we’re not going to lie to you, this week’s 1983 Michael Keaton comedy Mr. Mom has seen better days but Lee and Dan get quite self righteous and indignant on your behalf and the whole podcast is worth sitting through if only for the last minute so dig in and stick with it!! A big thank you goes to Ian Marshman for highlighting the deficiencies in Lee’s puppet movie watching and of course being a part of this week’s Three of the Best! And of course if you want to go over and torment those Geek Tragedy guys for their appalling lack of taste then you can do so here. Next week Lee and Dan are watching the 1995 comic book adaptation starring Sylvester Stallone Judge Dredd, apparently he has some knowledge of the law… Tweet | 8 3 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitThe ‘Burbs | Don’t look now but Walter’s dog is taking another dump on your lawn! Yes that’s right Lee and Dan venture out into suburbia to mix it up with the military tragics, the irresponsible teens (who are responsibly painting their house so… umm never mind) and of course the local freak fest family who never mow their lawn and only have sardines and pretzels! The boys are watching the 1989 black comedy starring Tom Hanks “The ‘Burbs”. All sorts of disaster conspired against Dan and Lee in bringing the podcast to you this week but here it is! A big thanks also to John from the blog Going Gently for being part of the podcast with his Three of the Best. ExplicitNight Shift | Okay grab your pimp hat, roll up some tissue for muscles and get ready to cook some bad scrambled eggs in your undies because this week Lee and Dan are visiting the shenanigans of the 1982 Ron Howard directed comedy Night Shift. Starring Batman, the Fonz and the first lady from Cheers this is a comedy that combines all the things that the Midmo Club love: morgues, pimps and Michael Keaton. This is of course the second film in the Michael Keaton extravaganza and it’s not a bad podcast to boot. We’ve got Erin from the blog The Fierce Beagle sharing her Three of the best and there’s a chance Dan and Lee mock Tim Burton for a good half hour. Sprinkle an old worn Aquaman t-shirt up for grabs and what are you waiting for?!?! Let us know the answer to the trivia question in the comments or just tell us what you thought of the movie or podcast! As always you check out the trailer on the Midnight Movie Club Facebook page so you should also pop over there and be sure to like us and share us! ExplicitUncle Buck | Get ready to fry up some huge pancakes, threaten a vice principal, sharpen your hatchet and avoid working in your girlfriend’s tyre company because Lee and Dan are watching some Uncle Buck. Well not “some”… they’re watching all of the 1989 John Hughes comedy which stars John Candy and a young (do we remember him in other way) Macaulay Culkin. Now there was some more slight problems with the synopsis book… again and Lee sacrifices his contribution to Week in Geek to bring you more words of wisdom from Wonder Woman in the workplace (or more conveniently known as WoWfWWitW). We explore why Dan doesn’t have success in his life and the mystery of herringbone. So come in, pull up a nice big comfy chair and enjoy the podcast, well tolerate it anyway (at least they’re not blathering about hovercrafts) We’d also like to thank Scott from the Scifi Diner podcast on the Three of the Best segment and if you’d like to come on the show drop us a line. As always you check out the trailer on the Midnight Movie Club Facebook page so you should also pop over there and be sure to like us and share us! ExplicitGung Ho | Grease up your monkey wrench and slap on your overalls because this week Lee and Dan are donning their blue collars, rolling up their sleeves and trying their very hardest to accept that other cultures have different ways of doing things and that’s okay. Yes Dan and Lee are watching the 1986 Michael Keaton comedy Working Class Man… ummm ahem I mean Gung Ho directed by Richie Cunningham himself Mr. Ron Howard. The reason for the confusion around the name is that in Australia this film is called Working Class Man which makes no sense apart from the singer of the song Working Class Man is an Australian rocker named Jimmy Barnes and the song is featured in the end credits. Apparently the marketing department suspected that Australians will go to films in the vague hope that they’ll hear the title track song at some point throughout the film. This week most of the kinks have been worked out of the extraordinarily professional segments and finally the book By the editors of Consumer Guide and Jay A Brown Rating the Movies for home video, tv, and cable New and Revised with over 3500 movies makes an appearance. If that doesn’t thrill you into listening to the podcast then… ummm errrrr please listen to the podcast (Dan will be your best friend): There now, see how much better that feels, next time don’t make us beg you to listen! Now you’ve got to make your way down to the comments and leave us some, go on, you can do it! The Midmoclub would like to thank Whit Honea for taking part in our Three of the Best segment, if you’re intrigued by him then visit his site or stalk… ummm follow him on Twitter. If you’d like to be in the Three of the Best segment then just head on over to the contact us page and drop us a line! Remember too that if you want to see the trailer you can pop on over to the Midnight Movie Club Facebook page and have a watch there. Why not throw us a like and some shares whilst there!!? ExplicitQuigley Down Under | Grab your hat, your spurs and your modified Sharps rifle that can shoot a ridiculously long distance because the Midmoclub boys are headed down to Australia as this week they watch the 1990 film Quigley Down Under featuring Tom Selleck, Laura San Giacomo and Alan Rickman and directed by Simon Wincer. An appropriate film to launch the start of the Midnight Movie Club second season as today is Australia Day in Australia and the podcast is properly debuting on the Australian based (but worldwide reaching) Lifestyle PodNetwork. All the new jingles are in place and have been tested to highest levels of safety tolerances and the new segments are all running smoothly… Well most of them. Would you believe some of them? Well anyway we can’t wait to hear what you think of the new sounding show so grab yourself some Vegemite, push the kangaroos aside, *insert your favorite Australian stereotype* and take a listen to the podcast: So don’t leave it there! ExplicitVampires, blue collar workers and the morgue, oh my! – it’s our season two trailer!! | What do cowboys, vampires, Michael Keaton, giant pancakes, more vampires, judges and the Klopeks all have in common!?! Well whilst Dan has been pursuing his dreams of rock and roll and Lee has been mulling over the effect commercialism will have on the purity of books like Twilight you guys have been left without anything to listen to on a Wednesday. We know it’s been tough but it’s nearly over. To tide you over for the long seven days in front of you before their triumphant return Lee and Dan have at least recorded a Season Two trailer that will go down in history as the greatest Midnight Movie Club trailer for season two of their podcast ever. ExplicitThe Warriors (1979) | When it was first suggested that the Midnight Movie Club visit the world of The Warriors, Lee was confusing this movie with West Side Story and was expecting a lot of singing and jazz hands. Dan who hadn’t seen the film since he was twenty was not expecting much. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MV4cgs-bPic Listen to the podcast to find out how they found it: Now there is some debate over the car at the end of the film as to whether or not it’s the same car as Ecto 1. It’s not. We think that it’s a 1955 Cadillac Funeral Coach Superior but then we’ve seen other suggestions. And the Ectomobile is a 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor limo-style endloader combination car (ambulance conversion). So what did you think of The Warriors? Be sure to leave a comment!! ExplicitThe Untouchables (1987) | In an attempt to fulfil the full list of genres in their movie categories Dan and Lee visit the underworld of Chicago during the prohibition era in The Untouchables. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIF_WdPUBFo Highlights Goons vs henchmen Dan’s car is a dud The description of the synopsis 100 times better than the actual synopsis There is a quest… Dan says Sean Connery is a bad actor There is much mocking of the lack of Irish accents There is a bunch of intelligent discussion of the film… Then there is a Robin Hood 2010 mini review Then there is a short re-enactment of Robin Hood 2 Then there is a tea cup sound effect retirement plan Then things go horribly wrong. ExplicitArmy of Darkness (1993) | This week Lee introduces Dan to the man, the myth, the legend that is Bruce Campbell and the simple joy that is Army of Darkness. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THV1KkPXIxQ Highlights: Dan is confused by zombies and deadites Lee does the bad thing in the synopsis that Dan did last week… It wasn’t any better. Lee and Dan kind of blame you for the poor quality of the synopsis. Dan was a Bruce Campbell virgin. The difference in tone to Evil Dead 1 & 2. You can’t nitpick the film, it’s an exercise in futility. Nor should you. Groovy. Bruce Campbell is this film. Klaatu barada nikto Oldsmobiles and chainsaws There are lots of quotes Full moon films Continue your Bruce Campbell education Dan’s Rating: 8 out of 10 stars Lee’s Rating: 10 out of 10 stars Next week Dan and Lee are watching The Untouchables. ExplicitYoung Guns II (1990) | This week Lee and Dan saddle up and head off to the wild west on the trail of Billy the Kid! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wH28Hg5eX0 Highlights: It’s an all star affair with Aragorn, CSI guy and the dude from Star Trek: Generations Dan identifies the order of Young Guns 1 and then Young Guns 2 Is this Emilio Estevez’s best role? Young Guns II is reasonably accurate Lee and Dan come to the podcast with no notes. It’s lacking in robots from the future. Lee compares Man from Snow River to Young Guns, Dan has no idea what Lee is going on with Dan likes Christian Slater Apparently Lou Diamond Phillips is very fragile. At what point does riding out of town naked become awkward? What are the responsibilities of the Lincoln County Sheriff? Lee wants more awkwardness in Young Guns 2. Dan talks demographics. Charlie Sheen… DON”T MISS DAN’S RENDITION OF BLAZE OF GLORY!!! Lee likes the rating section… in kind of a creepy way. Dan’s Rating: 6 out of 10 stars Lee’s Rating: 6.5 out of 10 stars Next week the lads are watching the Bruce Campbell masterpiece Army of Darkness (it’s Dan’s first time) Tweet | 7 9 10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Highlights this week: Fair warning Lee says the F word three times (possibly four… maybe five… mmmm six?) and Dan says it once. The shortest synopsis yet! Dan brings up the soundtrack for a change. The icon of the Orca Lee and Dan’s favourite scenes. Dan loves Hooper, Lee loves Brody… lots of man love. Lee doesn’t care about Mythbusters. Dan doesn’t actually read shark or whale books. Frankly Lee and Dan are terrified of sharks. Alien and Jaws. Stargate SG1 and Jaws. Giant sharks versus hovercrafts. There is a lot of Jaws the game talk. Lee’s Rating: 10 out of 10 stars Dan’s Rating: 10 out of 10 stars The competition!! Now for your chance to win the novels Jaws and Jaws 2 all you need to do is help us spread the word about the Midnight Movie Club – YAY!! And it’s open to anyone worldwide – YAY!! ExplicitNothing but a ramble | Making your way in the world today takes everything you’ve got. Taking a break from all your worries, sure would help a lot. Wouldn’t you like to get away? Sometimes you want to go… and not watch Jaws this week. That’s right Lee said he didn’t feel like watching Jaws and Dan folded like a cheap cards table and so they decided a ramble in the Bronx (do you see what I did there?) was what was called for. If you follow the Facebook page or on Twitter you probably saw the call out for questions already. Well now behold the answers!!! Listen as Lee and Dan talk: buddy films Hot Fuzz vs Shaun of the Dead hovercrafts (really! there’s more!) movies that they haven’t seen but are going to watch film and dread Schwarzenegger 2001: A Space Odyssey self fulfilling prophecies films that scare them Next week the boys promise to watch the giant shark movie!! ExplicitZulu (1964) | This is a film that Dan already loved and Lee had never seen! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOV63yLPYEA Highlights: Lee has about three hours of sleep all week so he’s hearing things and jumping at shadows Dan owes Lee for Avatar: The Last Airbender and Farscape. The boys do actually talk about Zulu. Rol is not mentioned. Dan undermines Lee’s synopsis. It’s the harmony podcast! Character development talk. Dan impersonates the Welsh. The film is surprisingly not racist. Nakedness and the rating system. The film Inception… Lee’s Rating: 7 out of 10 stars Dan’s Rating: 8 out of 10 stars Next week Lee and Dan actually won’t be watching Jaws until the following week but they’ll still be here talking movies next Wednesday!!! ExplicitThe NeverEnding Story (1984) | I don’t wish to alarm anyone but it appears that Lee and Dan have turned out another completely coherent, thought out, on topic and hovercraft free podcast. I know. I’m scared too… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3DcWtkKeIY The highlights: A hard film to explain to people what’s it’s about (well for Lee anyway) Who’s read the actual book? Lee and Dan explore their memories attached to this story and reading in general Mourning lost childhoods Dan mocks Lee for reading Doom novels The library is out to get Dan The effectiveness of the absence of music Dan assures us he wrote a very good blog post regarding X and Y generations Lee calls all other movie podcasters lazy bastards It’s okay not to be cool Artax!!!!!! All twenty-year-olds are a******es Puppets are freaking awesome! Sometimes authors are a little precious Things get deep Don’t give up your childlike wonder The parallels to The Princess Bride Dan says something controversial about The Princess Bride Does anyone know how long Bastian is in the school reading??!? ExplicitDemolition Man (1993) | This week Lee and Dan visit the dystopian future of the Sylvester Stallone film Demolition Man and for once turn out a podcast that feels semi polished and professional. It may have more to do with Dan’s editing or perhaps Lee’s ban on hovercraft shopping for the 60 minutes or so it took to record. The highlights: the most justifiably complex synopsis yet Sandra Bullock wears tight pants in this and Dan is the sexist one apologies for past sins (hovercrafts are mentioned) Lee has seen the future and is unimpressed Dan agrees. There is actually some intelligent discussion regarding futuristic settings Where the hell was Al Leong?!! There is a lot of discussion around some of the more sizeable plot holes Does the three sea shell joke still work? Hand towels can be icky… Dan talks fire and ice A note from Lee… There is some mention of a video in the podcast and unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances there is no video however it would have been hilarious and would have involved me making a cup of tea illustrating my apathy towards Demolition Man. ExplicitRumble in the Bronx (1995) | This week Dan and Lee go to the world of Kung Fu and hovercrafts in Rumble in the Bronx. The warning is that they talk about the movie for about ten minutes and then discuss hovercrafts for what feels like hours. Enjoy! Dan discusses the definition of art Lee is confused about wallflowers at singles dances Rumble in the podcast!! Lee delivers potentially the worst synopsis yet There is a subtle reference to hovercrafts Dan’s mixed heritage is revealed Housewife corner with Lee and Dan Rats ate Lee’s jacket Crappy dialogue There is an audio clip missing which may show up somewhere else during the podcast – try and work out where as I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Dan doesn’t need a big television Racism raises it’s ugly head again Brotherhood of the Wolf is awesome! The lack of cushions Jackie Chan lays some truth on the bad guys Another subtle reference to hovercrafts Dan turns to Wikipedia Lee turns to Amazon… Dan hates Bruce Lee Jackie Chan is a classy dude Radioactive beer man!! It’s a Jackie Chan love-in! More tiny references to hovercrafts Buying a hovercraft!!! More hovercraft related information The hovercraft malarkey continues… Chickens and the demise of Dan’s second favourite Dan and Lee eventually go back to talking about Rumble in the Bronx The cup of tea test is back!! Lee was wrong twice but you shouldn’t blame the Coen Brothers The worst Amazon pitch you’ll ever hear Dan and Lee finish on an in-depth discussion of Sylvester Stallone’s buttocks. Well actually they end on how Lee still hasn’t finished Dan’s new header image (but there are blueprints!!) Next week Demolition Man!! Tweet | 20 7 10 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitMajor League (1989) | No trailer this week for the movie Major League as it was bloody hard to find a semi-watchable one and the only one that was actually found was one that paints Tom Berenger’s character as an evil stalker… ummm kind of like how Dan and Lee paint his character… Highlights (?): Lee’s opinion on how you are this week 1989 in film Dan didn’t recognise Rene Russo Big baggy jumpers Tracey (Lee’s better half) doesn’t like Charlie Sheen Dan lies about the films he hasn’t seen Lee gets on the edge of his seat in the Mighty Ducks films Lee worries about them treating the game like a job Dan likes wearing American sports clothes but not so much playing sport This week it’s Dan who brings up the topic of balls Dan sums up the rules of baseball as “you have to hit the ball and run around a diamond” Lee praises Charlie Sheen behind Tracey’s back shhhhh There are hair spoilers for Major League 2 Oh that’s racist Dan likes the Dorn character…? More mighty moustaches Celebrity spotting… well the janitor from Scrubs anyway In depth discussion regarding racism and voodoo Lee proposes a gender census of the Midnight Movie Club massive Frankenhooker The podcast does lose the plot a little after the 38th minute Captain Archer is a definitive role Lee says “Faith of the Heart” a lot Lee goes to Amazon Dan questions the validity of listening to Lee wandering around online shops Despite the general arse’n around during the final 15 mins you should stick around for the special ending of the podcast Next week the boys are watching Rumble In The Bronx with Jackie Chan… well not with him… on their own… Fine, here’s the stalking trailer: Tweet | 13 7 10 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitDragnet (1987) | Just because Dan and the Hadrian’s walkers are off doing their thing and… umm walking we are still pushing forward to keep you guys entertained!! Show some love by popping over and donating some sweaty cash!! Dan and Lee invented the concept of Cheetos gloves… Dan does some major league foreshadowing. Lee and Dan declare that Tom Hanks used to be a man of the people and now isn’t. Dan and Lee pretty much quote the whole film. Is Dragnet the reason we have the Starsky and Hutch film? Bad Dragnet film, go to the corner! A lot of people don’t like Tom Hanks The synopsis is lacking… again 3 Men and a Baby part 3 – brought to you by the Midnight Movie Club!!! Leonard Nimoy coming out of retirement. Lee revolutionises the mental wellness industry. The eBay segment is back!!! ExplicitGremlins (1984) | Wow, that trailer really contains a bunch of spoilers!?! Yes that’s right this week Lee and Dan are watching the 1984 film Gremlins which is a really hard film to classify so it’s been labelled a Science Fiction/Horror/Comedy. in a departure from every other week Dan and Lee had technical problems behold as the boys screw up Judge Reinhold’s name completely Lee potentially creates ‘a famous illustrator’ in his mind and sees him in this film was this released in the greatest weekend ever? Gremlins scare Dan and Lee (possibly Lee more than Dan…) Homages to other films including Spielberg’s Lee can’t even remember the town’s name Dan and Lee are loving Joe Dante Stephen King and the construction of character and then doing something horrible to them Dan identifies the connection to The Wizard of Oz Lee bangs on about the soundtrack The utter ridiculousness of the rules and the absence of science Lee explores the metaphysics of the gremlins Buffy the Gremlin Slayer – Dan is effing hilarious!!! Lee and Dan discuss the mother’s place amongst science fiction heroes Ripley and Connor – she goes all Chuck Norris Dealing with the dog Dan does a great Gizmo impression!! CGI vs Puppets Oh, no more points go listen to the podcast already!!!! Next week Lee and Dan are watching Dragnet! Don’t forget your goat leggings!! Tweet | 30 6 10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Dan doesn’t like Rocky Horror Picture Show FRANKENHOOKER!!! Dan respects the man who dresses as a Klingon Dan discusses the evolution of creatures with eyes in their mouths Lee gives advice on building a rocket Dan now LOVES Queen Dan and Lee explain the rating system… … and the cup of tea test. Is this the nicest film we’ve watched? 123% less aliens in this film compared to X-Files Film has a special spot in Jeff’s heart The absolute newest film watched for Midnight Movie Club Lee doesn’t say the ‘f-word’ once! ExplicitStarship Troopers 2 and 3 | After the success of last week Lee, Dan and Arjan pressed ahead to watch the other movies in the Starship Troopers franchise. The swearing is back! Lee admits to occasionally making bad suggestions Arjan “explains” what Starship Troopers 2 is about with his synopsis which runs in at about four minutes over the actual running time of the film. Lee does Starship Troopers 3. There is a lot of sniggering. All military decisions appear to be random. Once again Dan injects medieval England into a conversation. The acting is bad even by Arjan’s level. Lee wistfully thinks about Survivor season 1 for some reason. Not enough shootings of Billy’s. The subtleties of fixing doors and running over extension cables. Lee pitches Starship Troopers 2 as a horror film. Why give them crappy guns?!? Dan likes Starship Troopers 3 more than 2 because it tries harder. Dan, Lee and Arjan once again get to discuss nudity… but not in a good way. Lee hates Starship Troopers 3 A lot. Dan and Arjan didn’t hate it AS much. Objectification of women in Starship Troopers 3 The most uncomfortable undressing scenes ever. Lee says “boom boom chicky chicky boom boom” Lee then defends T’Pol Dan defends Casper. Matt C wants mechs and he wants them now!!! Dan quite likes… nothing to do with this film… giggle. Arjan thought the singing was funny. Lee did not. Dan protected Kerry from the horrors of Troopers 2 and 3 Dan and Arjan turn on Lee Reviewers are idiots. Lee and Dan horrify Arjan with The Human Centipede trailer. What are you waiting for!? Check out the podcast!!! ExplicitStarship Troopers | This week’s midnight movie club movie appears to be a slam dunk; spaceships, explosions and giant bugs! On paper it sounds like the perfect film for the club or is it? Would you like to know more? Oh. Really? Ummm okay then ahhhh in the podcast this week: Dan makes a very exuberant greeting. Dan and Lee are old. Arjan is not. There are 86% less insults directed at the Dutch. Apparently Lee spoke to Casper Van Dien at some stage on MySpace. There are 100% more references to flogging than before. Lee is better and more widely read than Dan or Arjan. No one is defending the Nazis. Surprisingly less talk about balls. Matt pops in for a cup of tea and some points about Starship Troopers. No one likes Carmen. No really, no one. Doogie Howser MD. Lee, Dan and Arjan discuss nudity *giggle* *snigger* There are bug puns!!! Everyone turns on Arjan when he refers to Denise Richards as eye candy. Arjan then brings up p***s removal?!? Arjan then manages to jam Warhammer into the conversation. Lee and Dan wonder why they invite the Dutch on to the podcast. Lee just wants to wait in the car park. What are you waiting for then!!?! So any thoughts on Starship Troopers? Agree? Disagree? Lee and Dan refuse to pronounce more foreign names correctly. Dan and Lee look at Wikipedia again Demolition grade swords Lee admits to not being a sword-smith Dan likes his villains bald Lee says Donkey Balls Dan hates Queen Dan has an interesting idea of what a spoiler is Lee mentions Twilight… So what do you guys think? ExplicitMovie vs Movie | It’s Dan’s turn to fly solo this week as various scheduling problems meant that he and Lee were unable to meet up. If that weren’t bad enough he’s also roped in someone who is even more incompetent than him, Ian from the blog Single Parent Dad. So instead of Lee and Dan’s unique and pithy insights into Highlander you have to sit through Ian and Dan’s incoherent blatherings about clone movies (that’s films that were released the at the same time and which, apparently accidentally, have virtually the same plot). Ian and Dan discuss: Bugs Life vs Antz Turner and Hooch vs K9 Dantes Peak vs Volcano Finding Nemo vs A Sharks Tale Saving Private Ryan vs the Thin Red Line Independence Day vs Mars Attacks Madagascar vs The Wild Armageddon vs Deep Impact And make sure you stay tuned to the end to hear our special surprise guest. How schools are teaching kids to make silver bullets in home economics now. The Iron Man figurine dildo: (listen to the podcast and all will be revealed) This came with the Iron Man figurine!? ExplicitNo movie in particular but we do prank call Arjan and call it a podcast | This week Lee failed to do the one thing that was asked of him and that was to watch The Monster Squad. Dan managed to even having to forego sleep and calling in sick at work the next day so he could have a bit of shut eye. Lee on the other hand just got distracted by shiny objects as he is prone to do. As a result there is no movie per se but the boys do call Arjan up out of the blue and hilarity ensues: They take questions from Twitter covering topics such as: Where the Wild Things Are Sandra Bullock What films we refused to watch the end of in anger or disgust Idiocracy Nightmare on Elm Street Tweets that are filled with innuendo Lee seems to talk about robot balls for ages What the Dutch think of Austin Powers: Goldmember How to insult people in Dutch using Jurassic Park Lee insults Dutch people Dan gets scared in pretty much every film possible What scared Lee when he was young and probably damaged him for life Comic book movies International rating systems and finally what the weather was like in the Netherlands We would like to thank everyone on Twitter who took part: @voodoorabbit @LaurenLee_ @rolhirst @ESSGEETHREE @DanielleCu @mel_b_angel @impxox Also remember we now have a competition running on who can actually pronounce Arjan Beens correctly so send us your mp3′s or voice message at dghughes28 on Skype – I have no idea what the prize is but I’m sure it will be reasonably cheap. Marvel as Lee struggles with the basics of the internet. Gasp as he refers to the star of the movie as Justin Bateman Stare slack jawed as he demands you leave no comments* Sigh in relief as a special guest pops in Sigh in disappointment when he leaves again Wonder why there’s a huge pause at the start (Lee is)… Now next week should appeal slightly more to Lee’s delicate tastes: The Monster Squad *Please note that Lee’s opinions on discussing this movie in the comments does not reflect the policy or opinions of The Midnight Movie Club or that guy down the street who collects plastic bags and yells at the kids as they walk by. ExplicitTeen Wolf (1985) | One of the rules of the Midnight Movie Club is that the film that we’re watching has to be one that we would stay up really late watching despite having work the next morning. Teen Wolf fits this profile perfectly. This week Lee and Dan talk about the complete and utter wrongness of that basketball team Boof what they really mean by the Werewolf what exactly does one do when surfing on the roof of a van does any one really care about werewolves? You can only hear it by listening to the podcast and it should not be missed. Also hear the boys talk about: the eagerly awaited Three men and a baby sequel confusing this film with a popular Batman PS3 game Lee’s poor jokes requiring explanation Dan doesn’t know where the line “I like the night life, I like to boogie” comes from and for what seems to be a completely random reason the Staypuft Marshmallow Man Tweet | 3 3 10 | Free | View In iTunes |

I’m never quite sure what to say in these little introductions since we’ll be talking about the film in the podcast and don’t want to give anything away in a sad attempt to interest you enough to listen. ExplicitWhat bugs us in movies | This week is a little funny as we have already really done the Midnight Movie Club podcast on Sunday for the film Dirty Dancing but because we know you pine for us every Wednesday we thought we’d have a chat about movie things that irritate us. Now full disclaimer, this was recorded amidst a lot of technical difficulties and then it was edited by Lee instead of Dan so the quality may be all over the place and there will be no fancy meta data much to the furious anger of Dan. ExplicitDirty Dancing (1987) special Valentine podcast | Personal thoughts on the film aside but frankly I think that is the worst trailer we’ve featured so far. Yes this week is special as Dan and Lee have decided to honour Valentine’s Day by watching the one film that fills so many manly men with fear and dread. Dirty Dancing. Directed by Emile Ardolinio Starring: Patrick Swayze, Jennifer Grey, Jerry Orbach, Cynthia Rhodes It was either that or Grease. Lessor of two evils I guess. There will still be another podcast on Wednesday but won’t be quite so long. Remember to check out the Facebook page for some never before seen behind the scenes photos… well one. Hey you should add your own photos of you listening to the podcast!!! ExplicitThe Last Starfighter (1984) | Director: Nick Castle Starring: Lance Guest, Robert Preston, Catherine Mary Stewart, Dan O’Herlihy For the “best” description of the plot you really should listen to the podcast where you will get more than your fair share of synopsis. This week’s podcast was cursed, cursed as if we had built a giant house over the top of a sacred burial ground moved in, put our daughter in front of a big tv and lit up some reefer. We recorded it twice because the first time my computer ate it. The second time Dan’s computer ate 45 minutes of editing time he had done. Be happy that it’s finally here. Was it worth it? We are changing over to a primarily podcast based blog now. We know this will disappoint some of you but there are a couple of reasons why we’re changing the format and you’ll have to listen to the podcast to find out what they are. I know. Sneaky. This week we are as promised, talking about the 1989 film Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure. This week’s Breakfast Bar is short and much more good put together. Soon Dan and I will rule the digital airways and you’ll be able to say that you were here when it all started! Two genuine movie fans talking about the flicks I grew up on
Great podcast. Two chaps who clearly know their stuff chatting about the the movies that I grew up on in a warm, funny and genuinely entertaining way. It's like one of those wonderful pub chats with a good mate, conjuring up those days of the classic flicks from the 80s / 90s.
A great antidote to the pretentious movie reviews we've come to expect these days.
Only one compliaint - 7 podcasts in and you haven't done Big Trouble In Little China yet !!!!!!!
Latenight movie podcast hilarity!
Well worth a listen. Great films, great fun anad fabulous dancing (cough).
If you grew up in the 80's then these films will be the backdrop to your youth.
Funny, engaging and I'll be back for more!
Nutcases find a home
This is a surprisingly good podcast, they must have come up with a way of recording their audio without their drooling becoming a problem. Though you can still pick up the slightly worrying, and unforgettable, nutter giggling as their own gags.
And if you are like me, and enjoy other people being frustrated, I particularly like their 'What bugs us in movies', they both wind themselves up lovely in this shorted podcase. Top stuff.
