Progressive in Thyatira: More Tolerant than God (Part 6) | Jesus’ words to the church in Thyatira include some commendation for their actions, but lengthy correction of their doctrine. They were sinfully more tolerant than God—which is still a temptation for us today. What should Christian tolerance look like in culture, community, and the church? Christianity begins with tolerance and moves to repentance and change. | 27 5 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Apostate in Pergamum: Good Deeds, Bad Doctrine (Part 5) | Pastor Mark preaches on Jesus’ words to the church in Pergamum from the theater on the upper acropolis of the ancient city of Pergamum itself. Jesus encourages them for withstanding physical, political, and spiritual persecution in their city, where Satan’s throne is. However, he rebukes them for their apostate beliefs (false doctrine) and behavior (sexual sin). How could we fall into apostasy? | 20 5 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Life, Love, and Sacrifice | The scope of work for what it means to be a mother is not easy. However, the work is necessary. If a mother neglects her role, somebody else will care for and nurture our children, such as, Satan, the world, and their own dangerous appetites. A four-layered foundation must be carefull laid and understood as we embrace the sacred and blessed call of motherhood. | 14 5 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Persecuted in Smyrna: Faithful No Matter What (Part 4) | Pastor Mark preaches at the church in Smyrna on Jesus’ words—still applicable today—to the church in Smyrna from Revelation 2. Today, Turkey is the least churched nation; still, Jesus tells the church in Smyrna to be encouraged and to endure what he endured (tribulation, poverty, slander, suffering, even death), but not to fear. Pray for Christians and churches where persecution still continues. | 6 5 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Fundamentalist in Ephesus: All Head, No Heart (Part 3) | Pastor Mark preaches on Jesus’ letter to the church in Ephesus from the ancient city of Ephesus itself. Jesus commends the Ephesians for how they serve faithfully, endure hardship, have sound doctrine, and hate heretics, but his big criticism is that they are not very loving. Instead of merely criticizing the Ephesians, we must read Jesus’ words humbly and realize how we could become like them. | 30 4 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

A Message to Seven Churches (Part 2) | The book of Revelation is about loving Jesus and the church. Despite John’s suffering, Jesus redirects John to the churches—the lampstands that reflect Jesus to the world. Jesus tells us to persevere in him, with his people; to worship him privately and publicly, with his people; and to serve and give to his church. If you aren’t, it’s due to fear. But Jesus says to fear not, for he is with us. | 22 4 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

The Revelation of Jesus (Part 1) | John was one of the closest people on the earth to Jesus, as his best friend and eyewitness to Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. Even after being boiled alive and then exiled to the island of Patmos, John was faithful and never stopped talking about Jesus. For John, it’s always about Jesus. Revelation, penned by John, is all about King Jesus and Jesus’ church, because Jesus loves the church. | 15 4 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Jesus Is Risen | Jesus said he was God. And Jesus showed, through his death, burial, and resurrection, that he alone is God. Jesus is either God, or he’s not God. Jesus either told the truth, or he lied. Jesus is either alive, or he is dead. It’s that simple! Do you believe Jesus is God? Do you believe that he died for your sin? Do you believe that he rose from death? Turn from sin; trust in Jesus. | 8 4 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Jesus Died | Pastor Mark looks at how Jesus died (crucifixion) and why he died (for our sins), to prepare our hearts for Jesus’ resurrection on Easter Sunday. Jesus is God. He lived without sin, died on the cross for our sin, and then rose from death. Jesus is our high priest, sacrifice, and scapegoat. It all comes down to Jesus. Did he die and rise for you? Do you trust in him, or will you suffer like him? | 1 4 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Reverse-Engineering Your Life and Marriage (Part 11) | The most important day of your marriage is the last day. What will that day look like? As you think about and plan for that, consider that you need Jesus, Jesus’ people, prayer and planning, as well as some flexibility and a sense of urgency. Pastor Mark interviews families whose stories illustrate each of those biblical principles. We want to make the most of each day, in case it’s the last day. | 25 3 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Can We ________? (Part 10) | When the Corinthians asked the Apostle Paul a list of questions about sex, he directed them to consider three categories: 1) Is it lawful? 2) Is it helpful? and 3) Is it enslaving? Pastor Mark encourages married couples to do the same, so that they may be free in Christ to enjoy one another and use whatever freedom they prayerfully agree is acceptable to them. | 18 3 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Selfish Lovers and Servant Lovers (Part 9) | Jesus is the unselfish servant, but we are all selfish. Our selfishness is rooted in pride; we believe “I’m more important than you.” Proud people are selfish lovers, in and out of the bedroom (and most problems in the bedroom are the result of problems outside of the bedroom). Selfishness shows up in the “little things.” Are you proud and selfish, or are you a humble servant, by the grace of God? | 11 3 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

The Porn Path (Part 8) | Porn hurts God. Porn hurts men, women, and children. Porn hurts marriages. There is no such thing as free porn. Crissy (iamatreasure.com), a former pastor’s daughter who grew up to be a porn star and has since returned to a vibrant relationship with Jesus, shares her story and realities of the porn industry. Disgrace and Grace (Part 7) | Sexual assault is an epidemic: 1 of 4 women and 1 of 6 men have been assaulted—including Pastor Mark’s wife, Grace. Sin would leave us as shamed, defiled victims, but in Jesus, we are cleansed from all unrighteousness if today we turn from sin and trust in him. Sex: God, Gross, or Gift? (Part 6) | Before sin entered the world, God created sex for marriage between one man and one woman. People distort this gift and tend to see sex as either god or gross. However, the Bible gives six ways in which sex is a gift from God: for pleasure, children, knowledge, protection, comfort, and oneness. When God tells you to be faithful to your spouse, what he’s saying is, “I want the best for you.” | 19 2 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Taking Out the Trash (Part 5) | If you don’t take out the trash in your marriage, it will stink up the whole relationship. Don’t fight with criticism, contempt, defensiveness, or stonewalling. Rather, fight to the glory of God by recognizing sin and repenting of sin. The only way your relationship will be enduring and endearing is if repentance and forgiveness are practiced; otherwise, it will not get better, it will get bitter. | 12 2 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

The Respectful Wife (Part 4) | A wife is to respect her husband (Eph. 5:33). A respectful wife has a head of respect (How do you think about your husband?), a heart of respect (How do you feel about him? What do you say about him?), and hands of respect (What do you do for him?). A disrespectful wife may be silent/compliant, or loud/contentious. Still, it is possible to disagree respectfully. Men and Marriage (Part 3) | Marriage is a covenant, not a contract. Every covenant—including the new covenant of salvation—has a head, who is ultimately responsible for the covenant. The husband is the covenant head of a marriage; he is responsible for his marriage, his wife, and his kids. Similarly, Christ took that which was not his fault—our sin—and he made it his responsibility on the cross. He is our covenant head. | 29 1 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Friend with Benefits (Part 2) | God the Trinity is a friend and has friends, and he made us in his image and likeness for friendship with him and one another. Marriage is about friendship. How’s your friendship with Jesus? With your spouse? | 23 1 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

New Marriage, Same Spouse (Part 1) | Pastor Mark kicks off Real Marriage by sharing his and Grace’s marriage testimony, in which God has given them a new marriage with the same spouse. You can defeat Satan in your life and marriage by the blood of the Lamb (Rev. 12:11). Jesus died for sin so you can put your sin to death. Because of the blood of the Lamb, there’s a testimony. In a testimony, Jesus is the hero. What’s your testimony? | 15 1 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

All Things to All People (Part 5) | Pastor Mark visits 9 of 14 Mars Hill churches, seeing God’s work and asking what mission looks like for each. Being on mission means having the Father’s heart, then going to work with him. Just like the Apostle Paul, we become all things to all people, doing whatever we can to reach as many as possible. What does it mean to be a missionary—not just a Christian—in the city where God has placed you? | 8 1 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Receive Power (Part 4) | Sinners assume they can’t change, religious people assume they can change themselves, and spiritual people want to change but open themselves to any force or power to do so. You do need to change and you do need another power to change you, but it must be the power of the Holy Spirit—which is what empowered Jesus’ life. Where Are You? (Part 3) | One of the core values of Mars Hill Church is complementarian relationships. Pastor Mark explores what this means practically by answering three important questions with Scripture, starting in the beginning: what is God’s intent for men and women (Genesis 1–3), what is God’s intent for men and women in the church (1 Timothy 2–3), and what is God’s intent for men and women in the home. | 18 12 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Of First Importance (Part 2) | Pastor Mark preaches through 1 Corinthians 15:1–11 on gospel-centered theology, one of the core values of Mars Hill Church. Just as for Paul, our theological convictions lead to hard work empowered by the Holy Spirit. We believe that the gospel is most important, Jesus is alive and he saves from sin and religion, and God’s grace results in making disciples and planting churches. | 12 12 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

God's Work, Our Witness (Part 1) | This documentary gives a glimpse at the ups and downs of the early years of Mars Hill Church. It’s a story that includes didgeridoos during offering and one-dollar bills in the tithe—but more than that, it’s a story of how God was incredibly faithful to a group of people who had no idea what they were doing, except that they were committed to the gospel of Jesus Christ and to serving his church. | 4 12 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Kiss The Feet (Part 100) | The resurrected Jesus teaches and commissions his disciples before he returns to heaven. Because Jesus is alive, because the Bible is true, and because we believe the gospel—the good news that Jesus died for sin and rose for salvation—we should witness and worship. Luke’s great biography of Jesus’ life closes with Jesus’ people worshiping him—literally kissing his nail-scarred feet. | 27 11 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

How Jesus Taught the Bible (Part 99) | Jesus’ first priority after he physically rose from death was to teach people the Scriptures that are all about him. Just like the men walking to Emmaus, we are all spiritually blind until God opens our eyes. We see six ways in which all of the Old Testament is connected to Jesus: events, titles, prophecies, Christophanies, types, and like service. The book that God wrote is all about Jesus. | 20 11 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Today, over 12,000 people come each Sunday to ten churches in two states—with four more churches launching January 15. Jesus’ Burial and Resurrection (Part 98) | Pastor Mark preaches at the Garden Tomb in Jerusalem, the site that could be where Jesus was buried, temporarily. No one knows exactly where Jesus was buried—because he’s not there. Nobody is in Jesus’ tomb. He is alive; this fact is the bedrock of the Christian faith. Without the resurrection of Jesus, Christianity does not exist. If Jesus is dead, we are dead; if Jesus is alive, we are alive. | 13 11 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Jesus’ Crucifixion and Death (Part 97) | Nothing is as important as this: Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures. Jesus was brutally murdered by us, but also for us. On the cross he became our substitute, our sin was imputed to him, and he became cursed, which was more difficult to bear than even his physical suffering. Like those who were present on that day, you can respond in passive unbelief, active unbelief, or belief. | 6 11 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Jesus, the Son of God (Part 95) | Jesus is arrested, blindfolded, beaten, and blasphemed. He’s asked a series of questions, all of which boil down to one issue: is he the only God? Knowing that he will be crucified, Jesus declares himself to be the only God in three ways: he says he is the Christ, the Son of Man, and the Son of God. Some of you have been told Jesus never said he was God. He did. That’s why he was put to death. | 23 10 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Jesus and Judas (Part 94) | On Mars Hill’s fifteenth birthday, we examine a sobering text of Scripture and lessons to learn from the life of Judas. Judas was no victim. Judas’ desire was to betray Jesus, and Satan came and empowered that desire. The Bible doesn’t tell us why Judas did what he did; “Could I do the same?” Each of us must humbly, soberly pray for God’s grace to not be a Judas. | 16 10 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Jesus Sweats Blood (Part 93) | Jesus is in absolute agony, sweating blood, as he prays honestly with the Father. Every sin is like a drop into a cup. We pour the sin in. God, at the end of this life, pours out commensurate wrath. Yet Jesus submits his will to the Father’s; he exchanges places with us on the cross and drinks every single drop of cup of the wrath of God. The cross is where the love of God is most clearly seen. | 9 10 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Jesus, Tough and Tender (Part 92) | On his way to the cross, the Scriptures give Jesus confidence, courage, and clarity. When life gets hard, go to the book that God wrote. God wants us to receive and consider the whole book (or tota sola Scriptura), and to connect all of it to Jesus. Jesus does this when he recalls Isaiah 52–53—written 700 years prior—and shows how it promised his coming, his crucifixion, and his resurrection. | 2 10 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Jesus and Peter (Part 91) | Jesus knows who will fail him, and when, where, and how. He knows that all of us will fail him, even the best among us—including Peter, the senior leader of Jesus’ disciples. After Peter fails Jesus, he weeps bitterly and repents quickly, as should we. The good news is Jesus fails no one. He restores his friendship with Peter and then encourages him to tell his story in order to strengthen others. | 25 9 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Preaching refashioned for the 21st Century.
This podcast opens the door on Mars Hill Church and can make you almost feel like you are a member there. With every sermon, and much much more you can get up close and personal with Mark Driscoll who is one of the most successful and controversial figures in the church today. Some will be offended by his unique blend of traditional theological certainity and cultural adaptation. This is preaching as you have probably never heard it before. Driscoll builds a bridge between the world of the bible and the 21st Century - and he is FUNNY... my son loves it and thats a major bonus for me.
Love it
This keeps me going at work!!
