Nialler9 Podcast #38: Neon Indian, CREEP, Van Dyke Parks, Calypso, Vondelpark, Blawan, Hush War Cry…. | The latest Nialler9 podcast is a bit different down to the fact that there are two of us. I joined Aoife for a change for the links between tunes. Besides that it's business as usual with some enduring tunes from recent albums with diversions into folk, dance, electronic and Trinidad calypso via Van Dyke Parks and The Esso Trindad Steel Band.Artwork by 400 Facts Get the wallpaper. Nialler9 Podcast #30 – Brahms, Memory Tapes, Oh No Ono, The Middle East, Pivot, Frederik & more | Nine of the bands featured in this podcast also played at South By Southwest this year. That's just the way it is - the effect the festival has on the proceeding months of the year as bands who went down well in Texas continue to impress as we go. This time around we've got Brahms - a "ones to watch" status band, new album tracks from Errors, Gonjasufi, Dum Dum Girls, Oh No Ono, Phantogram, Alcoholic Faith Mission, Pivot, Holly Miranda as well as Swedish band Frederik (highly recommend their Trilogi album from last year), a track from Memory Tapes' excellent Seek Magic album which is getting renewed spins here and a 2001 oldie from the Rebirth Brass Band. Enjoy! And do leave comments, letting us know what you think or to say thanks. They are always nice things to get.Aoife McElwain is your podcast host - check out her food blog - I Can Has Cook? and her radio show Right Click Radio on RTE 2XM.Nialler9 - Podcast30 April 2010 by Nialler9Listen on Mixcloud.Podcast #30 -TracklistingBrahms - 'Towards The Ghost' Memory Tapes - 'Stop Talking' (Seek Magic) Errors - 'Supertribe' (Come Down With Me) Gonjasufi - 'DedNd' (A Sufi and a Killer) Oh No Ono - 'The Tea Party' (Eggs) Phantogram - 'As Far As I Can See' (Eyelid Movies) Pivot - 'The Quick Mile' (forthcoming album, Warp 2010) Alcoholic Faith Mission - 'Honeydrip' (Let This Be The Last Night We Care) The Middle East - 'Blood' (The Recordings of The Middle East) Holly Miranda - 'No-one Just Is' (The Private Magician's Library) Frederik - 'Locked in the Basement' (Trilogi) Dum Dum Girls - 'Baby Don't Go' ( | 7 4 10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Nialler9 Interview Podcast – ASIWYFA | Holla folks. This is Aoife Mc here. Below you'll find a 40 minute podcast for your downloading pleasure. It's along the theme of my last Irish based Nialler9 podcast, only this time we're focusing on one band. The almighty And So I Watch You From Afar. The Derry born Belfast based band blew the heads off of myself and Niall when we saw them play a State.ie gig out in The Purty Loft in Dun Laoghaire a month back. They inspired me so much that I thought I'd dedicate this latest Irish podcast fully to them. I really hope you like them as much as myself and Niall do. They're so playing at our wedding. LOL.We're off on our holidays in about three weeks and I'd like to get another Irish only podcast up on the site before we head off, as the last couple of months have been rife with great talent releasing stuff on our wee island. In the meantime though, here's an insight in to the world of ASIWYFA. Word.Tracks heard on this podcast are all from the self-titled debut album of ASIWFA and they play as follows:Set Guitars to Kill Clench Fists, Grit Teeth... Go! A Little Bit of Solidarity Goes a Long Way If It Ain't Broke...Break It! Don't Waste Time Doing Things You HateYou can buy the album here.Mind now, it's a bit loud. Enjoy!Nialler9 Interview Podcast - ASIWYFANialler9 Interview Podcast ASIWYFA 002 by nialler9 | 22 5 09 | Free | View In iTunes |

New Nialler9 podcast… from Aoife Mc | Hello folks. This is Aoife here, voice of the Nialler9 podcasts. I'm writing to announce the uploading of a brand-spanking sparkly new podcast.*I'm going to try to add to our podcast output by including a monthly-ish podcast focusing on Irish music. It will be in no way a replacement of our regular monthly podcasts, which will continue as normal. We're recording the next one this weekend before Nialler heads off to SXSW on Monday (jealous!).To whet your appetite, below you'll find the mp3 of our first Irish Nialler9 podcast. I would really love your feedback on it. Do you like the format? What kind of stuff would you like to hear on an Irish podcast? Would you like it to be interview based or just tracks? We are also opening up the forum to giving our new podcast a name. Aoife Mc's Paddy Whack Trax Attack is a strong contender at the moment, but we could use a few more ideas so comment below if you have any.On this podast, you'll hear tracks from Tenaka, The Mighty Stef, The Ambience Affair, Cashier no9 as well as an interview with the really lovely and hoigely talented Conor O'Brien from Villagers.I really hope you like it*No sparkles were harmed in the making of this podcast Tenaka - Ain't Nobody (Eponymously Titled EP)The Mighty Stef - Waiting Round To Die (Midnights LP) The Ambience Affair - Vacant Hearts (Fragile Things EP)Cashier no9 - To The Death of Fun (single)Villagers - Pieces - (Hollow Kind EP)Villagers - Interview Part 1Villagers - The Sun Is Hanging From A String - (Hollow Kind EP) Villagers - Interview Part 2 Villagers - The Meaning of The Ritual - (Hollow Kind EP)Aoife's Irish Podcast #1 | 13 3 09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Podcast #23 – Solid Gold / Ariel Pink / Fever Ray & more | Belgium's Aeroplane have been killing their remixes of late. Like a funky taxidermist stuffing the originals with sick grooves. Or something.... Their Friendly Fires and MGMT remixes are repeaters and now you can add their Italo Sebastien Tellier remix to the list. Essential. As is another cut from Solid Gold, the lounge-folk of Ariel Pink, a Cool Kids-esque track from Zion I, an angry skeng from Dublin's Prince Kong, a Macedonia via Sao Paolo remix, a lovely album track from The Knife frontwoman's solo project Fever Ray, another ace Four Tet remix, a woman who can't pronounce her consonants, a man and his ukelele (no, not that one) and Aoife Mc fighting with her microphone. We've spilled over into December but that's OK as I'm about to kick the Irish end of year albums and songs poll off this week so the next podcast will be chosen by you. nialler9 Podcast #14: April 08 | April's podcast starts with the most bizarre medieval electro track you've ever heard. Seriously, you'll be prancin' about like the medieval minstrel from Monty Python's The Holy Grail after two minutes. The rest of this podcast took 8 hours to prepare and then we let it marinate overnight. Presented by Aoife, it includes an exclusive tune from Jape's new album Ritual, Scandanavian popster Lykke Li, Electronic wizard Daedelus, cinematic soundtrack music from Quiet Village, soul from Erykah Badu, an Animal Collective doppelganger from Born Ruffians, Irish electronic singer/songwriter David Turpin (whose song sounds like another famous tune, if you know what it is holler in the comments), the half-Swedish, half-Irish Kill Krinkle Club, Anticon's Dosh, Dublin electro Merlin The Vinny Club and the far-from extinct The Dodos from San Francisco.nialler9 Podcast #14 - April 2008 (MP3) [display_podcast] Podcast #14 -TracklistingDeastro - Light Powered [Ghostly Swim free compilation] Daedelus - Fairweather Friends [Fairweather Friends EP] Jape - Nothing Lasts Forever [Ritual] Lykke Li - Little Bit [Youth Novels] Santogold - Say Aha [Santogold] Quiet Village - Free Rider [Silent Movie] Erykah Badu - The Healer [New Amerykah Part One] Born Ruffians - Red, Yellow & Blue [Red, Yellow & Blue] David Turpin - Pony Tears [The Sweet Used-to-Be] Kill Krinkle Club - Lakes [The Bloody Murder of Krinkle] Dosh - If You Want To ( You Have To) [Wolves and Wishes] The Vinny Club - Duke (Throw in the Damn Towel) [Rocky IV Reckyrd] The Dodos - Red and Purple [Visiter]Download the Podcast via iTunes Subscribe to the Podcast RSS Feed | 29 4 08 | Free | View In iTunes |

nialler9 Podcast #8: October | We finally recorded number eight last night, despite being overcome with random giddiness all day yesterday. Do you ever get like that? When you can't help but do something silly by default. Anyway, I made it very difficult for Aoife when she was recording it cos I was like that. Poor girl. I did learn about Musical Youth though so it's all good.Likin' this one. I have been holding back on posting some of these songs on their own as I wanted to put them into the Podcast. Podcast 6: August Electric Picnic special | I think this is the upbeat podcast I've been promising all summer. As the sun finally shone this weekend, it puts us in good stead for the next when we descend on Stradbally once again for the festival of the year. So to get you all pumped about the Electric Picnic which starts Friday, this month's podcast is all Electric Picnic artists. It can be the soundtrack to your preparations: frantically searching for timetables online, buying another tent because you weren't arsed taking down that huge 12 man tent last year, deciding whether to brave it without wellies or the last minute dash for toilet roll.I'm looking forward to seeing two sets from the Beastie Boys so much so we started this podcast with a favourite of mine from the NY men. Enjoy and see you down the front! The voice of the podcast as always is Aoife Mc, presenter of The Indie Hour on 103.2 Dublin City Anna Livia FM. Podcast #5 – July 07 | Natasha Khan aka Bat for Lashes lazing on a sunny afternoon courtesy of Lee Shearman.I was going to make this an upbeat, summer podcast but 50-odd days of consecutive rain can obviously get a brotha down so it's a bit more of a chilled out affair than usual with more guitar music than usual. I still had a chance to squeeze in a track from my favourite MC MF Doom as he has a re-released deluxe packaged version of "Mmm.. Food" out and we have a couple of bass stompers to round off July from Boxcutter and Prince Kong. We're also highlighting the Remix Artist Collective with two remixes of theirs of The Shins & Tokyo Police Club back to back. Thanks once again to Aoife Mc for presenting.
