Podcast Description

The PowerScripting Podcast is for people learning Windows PowerShell. In each episode we discuss individual cmdlets so you can learn what they do, we bring you news and resources about Windows PowerShell to help in your learning. We also bring you tips, tricks, one-liner's and gotchas that I discover, as well as those submitted by listeners. We talk about scripting in PowerShell (and occasionally in VBScript) and ways to make your job "a little easier." We have heard PowerShell described as "the future of Windows administration" so the time to start learning it is now! Your feedback is always welcome. Thanks for subscribing!

Its very good so far...and it still is!! (review updated)

See below for my early review which is definitely still relevant, but now I'm up to episode 24 I wanted to give you more praise as the show keeps on improving - so much so I've given you 5 stars now! Hal has been a great addition to the show and I really enjoy the way you both provide different angles on the same subject - gives the show a great balance. The interviews are cool too, but don't forget the techy stuff (cmdlets, one-liners, etc) as they seem to have slipped slightly in priority recently and aren't as deep & detailed as they used to be. More references to the .NET roots and how to leverage them in our scripts would be a suggestion from my perspective. So, anyway, keep up the excellent work - its much appreciated. I'm nearly up to date now but I'll have to up my progress a bit, now you've gone to a show a week! I have no idea where you find the time to record, edit & produce this (I struggle finding the hour to listen - and then the time to review all your links and references of course). Oh one last thing - I love how the podcast notes come up on my Touch now (that's neat & really useful!). Well I've only listened to episode 0 and 1 so far and am keen to catch up but the format and level of information is excellent. A great deal of thought has obviously gone into creating this show and it feels like it will be an invaluable tool to assist my learning of Microsoft's new and apparently "invaluable tool"!! I particularly like the way you started about the same level as I am (just a basic knowledge of PowerShell) and that we'll be learning and developing together through the series. Thanks guys - keep up the good work and I'll catch you up soon!

Fantastic scripting show, a must for scripters of all levels.

This show is a must for anyone interested in learning PowerShell and keeping up with PowerShell news and developments. I started listening about 2 months ago and I feel that without this show I would still be struggling to get my head around alot of PowerShell concepts. Thank you Jonathon and Hal, keep up the great work.

Essential listening for all Powershellers

Jon and Hal bake real magic into these hour or so slices of Powershell goodness! Each episode reeks of sheer commitment to our favourite shell scripting language and further opens the crack in the wall through which we, mere mortals, can peer at the Powershell gods. Where else can you listen to the Architect of Powershell discussing, in detail, the reason why things are the way they are along with his vision of how the future of shell scripting might be? Or get real insights into why your favourite script editor behaves the way it does. Or hear some of the most experienced IT automation guys on the planet talk about what makes them tick. Jon and Hal don't pull any punches with these Powershell heavyweights and result is very energising! I always finish listening with a raging appetite to write a new script to solve todays problems! Thats got to be a good thing! This podcast is important because it makes you feel somehow closer to a technology that is extremely significant. The guys work together brilliantly to host a slick and often hysterically funny show that has now become one of my favourite hours of the week, and as another reviewer has mentioned it's a mystery how they find the time to put this together. But they do, and we the Powershell community can be glad and be proud of them as ambassadors for Powershell. If you have an inkling toward Powershell (maybe you've heard of it as a way to make your IT life easier?), then start downloading and let Hal and Jon ease your learning curve into what has got to be one of the most generously rewarding technologies you could ever choose to learn. You'll learn a lot, you'll laugh a lot and generally be glad you did. Subscribe.
