OST 06.11.2004 – DJ Food Sesame Street Special | Soundtracks, library and television music with Jonny Trunk. Something of a curveball for you this week, as rather than bring you the recent DJ Food episode (don’t worry, it’s coming!), the man otherwise known as Mr. Strictly Kev has been kind enough to send us a copy of his original OST appearance way back in 2004. We’re more than delighted to have it, partly because we weren’t terribly good at archiving ourselves back then, but mostly because at the time Kev was knee-deep in a project unearthing long-lost gems from deep within the vaults of the former Children’s Television Workshop. Yes, this week it’s all about Sesame Street and Kev brings us a selection full to bursting with tracks that you simply haven’t heard. The seven-minute performance of ‘Superstition’ is worth it alone, but that’s barely the tip of the iceberg. We’ve given you Sesame Street specials on these podcast pages before, but THIS is the original and the material here is largely unreleased. Indeed Robin The Fog was so excited that he had to sit down for a week… | 18 4 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

OST 07.04.21012 – David Cain Radiophonics Special | Soundtracks, library music and other agreeable delights with Jonny Trunk. This week – David Cain! WOW! In the mid 1960s the BBC Radiophonic Workshop was home to three important figures: Delia Derbyshire, John Baker and today’s very special guest. Coming all the way from Poland on his way to a Maths conference, David pops in to talk Radiophonics with our man Trunk. Set course for two hours in the company of a radiophonic legend. | 11 4 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

OST 04.02.2012 – Fiona Staniland’s Morricone In Love | Soundtracks, library music and other dirty smut with Jonny Trunk. Today he’s joined by Fiona Staniland, Morricone fan and now artist interpreting the wordless work of the maestro. Over the last year Fiona has been developing a show simply called “Morricone In Love” where, backed by her quintet (and the original films), performs the stunning music written for the underground Giallo movies of the 1968 – 1972 period. Fiona also treated us to a live performance of a couple of her favourites in anticpation of her sold-out show at Richmix in Bethnal Green Rd. And all this in spite of Robin and Kacper’s failed attempt got Jonny’s ancient Copycat echo machine working and provide the lady with some reverb. It’s probably still in the Resonance skip if anyone wants it… | 4 4 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

OST 13.03.2010 – Bill Brewster’s DJ History Special | Soundtracks, library and televisual soundtrack-type shenanigans with Jonny Trunk. Today’s archive podcast is yet another show from 2010, when your host was joined by author, DJ, and crate-digging authority Bill Brewster. Co-founder of the highly influential ‘DJ History’ website, which started as a simple DJ and music forum and then mutated and grown into a publisher, label and reference point for legions of ‘clued-up DJs, record collectors and unshaven misanthropes’. Something tells me the average OST listener would fit right in! | 28 3 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

OST 09.01.2010 – Andy Weatherall | Film soundtracks, library and television music with Jonny Trunk. Due to popular demand here it is, our Andy Weatherall special from 2010. ‘What a guy, what records!’ said Jonny, who is rarely impressed by anything, which just goes to show what a momentous occasion it was when the producer, musician, DJ and all-round genius paid us a visit. What more needs to be said? | 21 3 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

OST 06.03.2010 – Moon Wiring Club | Film soundtracks, library and television music with Jonny Trunk. Kicking off this latest blast of missives from the OST archive we’re delighted to unveil this very special edition from 2010 featuring Moon Wiring Club! The man described by The Advisory Circle as ‘the inevitable Mr Ian Hodgson’ joins us in the studio to play some of his favourite records and a smattering of his own ‘delightfully other’ recordings. Speaking of which, this podcast is rather well-timed, as he just so happens to have a new album ‘Clutch It Like A Gonk’ out right now. And it’s rather super. Like this show. OST 21.01.2012 – Fred Judd, Ian Helliwell & Public Information | Soundtracks, library and television music with Jonny Trunk. Today Ian Helliwell is coming onto the OST Show. Ian lives in Brighton, is somewhat of an archivist and dare we say it, a polymath. He has spent the last few years, investigating (amongst many other things) the life and work of a certain F.C. Judd. Frederick Judd was responsible for some very early electronic music in the UK, wrote extensively on the subject and much of his musical work was issued on the Studio G library label. Ian has also made a full length film about this great, inventive man, ‘Practical Electronics’ and a new compilation of his Judd’s work ‘Electronics Without Tears’ is about to be released on the rather marvellous Public Information label. And pretty fabulous they both are too. The stage is set for a journey into the deeply strange and utterly wondrous soundworld. And don’t be fooled by the skip in the first few seconds, this is actually a lovely high-quality 320kbps mp3 file, which as you will know is CD quality. We really are too good to you… | 1 2 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

OST 19.11.2011- Alan McKinnon | Soundtracks, Library Music and all that jazz with Jonny Trunk. Today’s special guest is Alan McKinnon, ace record collector. He’s come all the way from Lewisham with a sack full of decidedly groovy and obscure jazz records, some of which even Jonny isn’t familiar with (not that he’ll admit it). There’s also a healthy dose of ‘pancake angst’ and the usual extremely silly competition, this week mixing films and clothes. Get Cardi, anyone? | 28 12 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

OST 20.08.2011 – Morricone POP! | Soundtracks, library and television music hosted by Jonny Trunk. Today – Morricone Pop! We examine exceptionally rare Morricone collaborations. All non soundtrack works, these superb records date from 1958 and run through to about 1965, crossing from classic Italain pop to jazz and more experimental recordings. We’ll also be playing the rarely heard Pastures OF Plenty, the 1962 pop vocal by Pete Tevis that was to become A Fistful Of Dollars three years later. Result! Incidentally, sorry this week’s podcast isn’t a bit more Christmassy. Robin The Fog popped down to the OST archive to try and find something a bit more seasonal, but then left his USB stick at the Resonance Christmas party. So you’ll just have to slap this one on while sitting around the festive table instead. A pretty decent compromise, don’t you think? Happy Christmas, OST fans! | 21 12 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

OST 12.11.2011 – Adrian Corker | Soundtracks, library and television music hosted by Jonny Trunk. Special guest today is Adrian Corker, musician and film music composer. He has collaborated with, amongst others, Peter Greenaway and Michael Nyman, and has written and composed for over 15 films. His latest work is the soundtrack to acclaimed documentary Way OF The Morris, a soundtrack that is released in November. And in the usual combination of sublime and ridiculous, there’s cheap laughs to be had in another classic competition – Films and chocolate. We do have fun on this show, don’t we? Don’t we, though? | 14 12 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

OST 18.06.2011 – Crime Jazz Special | Evenin’ all. I was proceeding down Borough High Street in a leisurely manner on the afternoon of June 18th, when I spotted the Defendant Jonny Trunk of 999 Letsby Avenue, willfully engaging in a special Crime Jazz edition of the OST Show, featuring classic cues by Bernstein, Ellington, Waxman and a plenitude of others. I had no option other than to feel his collar. Each week The OST Show welcomes a guest (a collector, composer, director, artist) or specialises in a specific film music genre or composer. Expect lively chat, competitions and anything from avant garde Morricone to Rock Hudson singing. | 7 12 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

OST 10.02.2010 – Transmediale Special | This archive edition of the the OST Show from 2010 is broadcast live from the Transmediale Festival in Berlin. Expect some fine compositions from Germany’s finest film composers. As per usual, Herr Trunk poses another pithy quiz question….the OST quiz conundrum – songs that are appropriate, or inappropriate, to listen to in a lavatory. You can take the seedy Englishman out of England, but… This weekly programme is dedicated to film music, TV music, library music and related recordings, and is hosted by Jonny Trunk. OST 19.04.2011 – Julie Andrews / The Sound Of Music Special | OST is a weekly programme is dedicated to film music, TV music, library music and related recordings, and is hosted by Jonny Trunk. In this archive edition from 2008, Jonny is (entirely predictably) excited by the release of Julie Andrew’s memoir of her pre-Sound Of Music years, and so has prepared an entire programme of Sound Of Music Music, either from the film itself or covered by a multitude of artists. Even that Sun-Ra fellow. And not quite as cute and fluffy as you might think. Each week The OST Show welcomes a guest (a collector, composer, director, artist) or specialises in a specific film music genre or composer. OST 02.11.2011 – X-Ray Eyes Special | This weekly programme is dedicated to film music, TV music, library music and related recordings, and is hosted by Jonny Trunk. Each week The OST Show welcomes a guest (a collector, composer, director, artist) or specialises in a specific film music genre or composer. Today Jonny is proud to be able to play the first ever full recording of Les Baxter’s score to The Man With X Ray Eyes. A mixture of exotics, oddness and bizarre instrumentation, this superb sci fi horror score for Corman’s 1963 classic (also known simply as “X”) is well worth the 48 year wait. He also has an unreleased Schifrin score but you’ll have to tune in to hear all about it! | 16 11 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

OST 25.06.11 – Dominic Glynn | In this slightly shortened OST Show today we have special guest Dominic Glynn, not just any old TV and film music composer but a contemporary talent who has indeed created stunning music for Dr Who. Be prepared to spend much of Saturday’s show quivering behind the sofa. OST 09.11.2011 – KPM Jazz Special | Film, library and television music with Jonny Trunk. Today the OST has an unexpected airing of all three exceptionally rare Clark-Boland Big Band LPs made for KPM. The internationally famous poll winning band included the cream of European and American musicians, but quite why and how they made three LPs for the London based library label is anyones guess. So, Jazz Convention I, II and III, possibly the rarest set of all British library LPs get a full hearing today. Hurrah! | 8 11 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

OST 01.10.2011 – George Harrison Special | Soundtracks, TV and library music (plus assorted tangents) with Jonny Trunk. To celebrate the launch of “Living In The Material World”, a brand new book featuring the personal archives of George Harrison, the OST Show is dedicating itself to the man, his film music and the soundtracks from the output of his Handmade Films Company, originally broadcast 1st October 2011. There was a competition too with a pretty cool prize, but you’ve obviously missed that because this is a podcast, and you can’t go back, no matter what those fellows in Switzerland might have you believe. Never mind, at least we still have the music, right? And what music it is! Hit that download button forthwith! | 9 10 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

OST 11/06/2011 – Michel Legrand Special | Soundtracks, library and television music curated by Jonny Trunk. In this archive edition from June 2011, Jonny feels moved to play the music of the veteran composer, arranger and general cool cat Michel Legrand. The reason for this venture, not that it particularly needs one, is that Jonny had been to see the great man give a thoroughly satisfactory performance at Ronnie Scott’s a few days previously, and felt compelled to prepare a tribute episode away from the distractions of courting couples and chickens in a basket… Slightly shorter than your average OST due to the events at the Raven Row gallery, but no less perfectly formed! | 5 10 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

OST 17.09.2011 – John Flannery | This weekly programme is dedicated to film music, TV music, library music and related recordings, and is hosted by Jonny Trunk. Today on the OST Show he’s joined by John Flannery, member of the test card circle. We’ve been waiting an age to get one of the test card enthusiasts on the show, and were thrilled to have John join us. Expect two hours of classic TV interludes and more besides. We’d also like to apologise for the extreme slackness of uploading fresh OST podcasts in the last month or two. This is because it’s normally left to Robin The Fog to sort it out, and frankly of late he hasn’t been cutting the mustard. However, with a quiet word and a punch in the chops, normal service looks set to be resumed. Look out for veritable cavalcade of new and old OST podcasts coming very soon! We faithfully promise… | 22 9 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

OST 09.07.2005 – Delia Derbyshire Special | Film, library and television music with Jonny Trunk. Choc-full of obscure and rare material from one of the pioneers of electronic music. Does anything more need to be said, really? Well, does it? Get downloading! | 3 6 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

OST 08.08.2009 – Big George Special | Film, library and television music with Jonny Trunk. This week’s edition from August 8th 2009 was re-braodcast on 21st May 2011 in tribute to that week’s guest, the larger-than-life musician, broadcaster and all-round legend Big George who very sadly and very suddenly passed away earlier that month. A fine tribute to possibly the only guest in the history of the show to talk Jonny under the table; the show kicks off with his theme tune to ‘Have I Got News For You’ as you’ve never heard it before… | 3 6 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

OST 12.08.2008 – Sesame Street Special | Film, library and television music with Jonny Trunk. In this archive edition from 2008, Robin The Fog, OST’s long-suffering engineer and comedy foil takes the controls to bring you the musical fruits of his Sesame Street obsession, aided and abetted by ResFM stalwart Joceline Colvert. Together they bring you a Ladybug’s Picnic, P-Funk jams concerning the days of the week and a pigeon that plays checkers, pus some surprisingly avant-garde obscurities from Philip Glass. OST
Fantastic to now find I can listen to the incomperable Johnny Trunk's Original Soundtrack Show whenever I want to. This deserves to be heard by a much wider audience than just those able to receive resonnce FM. I had the good fortune to see Johnny in Sheffield playing library music in Sheffleld central Library as part of the Sensoria festival. An amazing night of superb sounds from Mr JT and others. If the names Ronnie Hazelhurst, Mike Samms or Ron Grainer have any meaning in your life, give this a listen, you will not be disappointed
Awesome!!!
Hands down the best podcast on my iPod, I first heard Jonny playing his library music a few years ago on a fabric podcast and I wanted more! Now I've discovered this, incredible music and an awesome host. Thank you very much Mr Trunk : )
Enjoyable selections of music
