Podcast Description
Born in 2005 from the ashes of Turntable Radio and helmed by Mr Trick and Waxfactor, Rhythm Incursions started life as a radio show airing music that 'picked up where hip hop stopped'. Since then it has evolved to continue its mission and today - in a world where hip hop has evolved to embrace its mutations that were the exceptions rather than the norm only a few years ago - it provides discerning music for discerning ears with monthly shows and guest mixes from hand picked worldwide DJs, producers and labels. The Rhythm Incursions presenting team now includes Primus Luta and DDay One from the USA, Raid System from Tokyo and Laurent Fintoni from London as well as two exclusive guest mix series curated by Friends of Friends and Raid System. We love the music we play and we think you will too.

ExplicitREKChampa – Rhythm Incursions guestmix | Coming at you from the greater Atlanta area, Rek Champa is someone I know little about so I guess this is a great case of letting the music do the talking. In this case the mix showcases music he's been listening to recently and you can hear his own work over at his Soundcloud - a perfect one/two combo. The mix features the likes of Eliphino, Jack Dixon, Lando Kal and RAJA, the latter someone who also comes highly recommended from Shigeto. | 14 5 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitAkkachar – Warranty Displayed | When Akkachar offered to do us a mix we obviously couldn't say no, and he delivered with a 40 odd minute journey not too dissimilar in style and substance to Om Unit's recent session or our habitual leanings for slow/fast mixes. Featuring on there is Rwina material old and new including new Eprom, Deft and Desto as well as appearances by many of our favourite peoples including the Cosmic Bridge family Kromestar, EAN, Om Unit and Moresounds, Nasty Ways (aka Eprom and Boreta), Manni Dee, Slick Shoota and more. Suffice to say it bangs rather loudly, perfect to get you in the mood for the weekend. | 11 5 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitStrand – Slam Funk! Mix | Basically these are the kind of sounds I felt close to when making the new record. It contains old funk from 70's- 80's (including seminal flamenco-jazz-funk), music from my Lowriders family like Hovatron and Halp, and fellow Brussels citizens like Squeaky Lobster and friends like Glue Kids. It includes tracks of records from Tim Exile and John Frusciante that have been a great source of inspiration. Like the record, this mix is a step into my exploration of black music, a maiden voyage (tilte of one of my fav Herbien Hancock's LP) into funk sounds from the 70s and 80s with an un-conservative spirit. Not a look back to the past, but a vision of what today and the future could be like. We are living difficult times and economy is not doing good. The economic forecasts show that the crisis will last for ten years at least: more unemployment, less social services,... This is why I believe it is important to make optimistic music and focus on the good things while describing what is currently happening. Funk music is a clear example of that, it allows you to dance and think, and at the same time reflect about the times we live on. At least I feel it that way.SLAM FUNK! is one of many answers. | 21 4 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitRhythm Incursions x Primus Luta – April 2012 | This month sees Primus pay particular attention to the work of Laurel Halo - with no less than four tracks from four different releases and aliases of hers including the forthcoming Hyperdub album, her King Felix alias and the RVGN intl collaboration with Lopatin and others - as well as Japanese experimental artist Koyxen who I wasn't particularly up on but is definitely on my to check out list now. Alongside this we've got new music from Melo-X, Chrissy Murderbot, King Britt, Venetian Snares, Brey, Homeboy Sandman, El-P, Madlib and Georgia Anne Muldrow, Aesop Rock, Matthewdavid, Hawthorne Headhunters, Lone, Hype Williams, Untold, Rumpistol, Darkhouse Family and more. As I said, a sizeable run down of some of the more interesting corners of the music world. | 16 4 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitFriends of Friends mix series – Pcoat ‘Thank You’ | A mix of new and old tunes for all my friends of friends of friends. Recorded while sitting upright (with proper posture, feet placement etc.) at my home in Glassell Park, the mix tells the story of millions of particles of dust falling slowly from the ceiling, passing through a sunbeam, and then ultimately finding home in my lungs. Thank you. | 13 4 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitBantum – #lightbox Mix | For the second mix in our Lightbox series we have Bantum provide 30 mins of his own unique productions to soothe and relax. In his own words: For this mix I thought I'd include some old tunes, some remixes and some snippets of new tunes I'm currently working on, hopefully for an album. I have included "Slide" and "Gravy" from the Slide and Lay Lay EPs, along with remixes of Irish acts Owensie and Come On Live Long. For the new material I'm working with Margie Lewis and Benni from Irish punk band Logikparty, among others. | 10 4 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitTenaka – Collected #lightbox | Since my first EP I've been close to and scraped 2 albums (one after the 'Eponymously Titled' EP and one after the 'EPhemeral' EP). 'Collected' is a snapshot of those tracks which includes remixes, previously released, unreleased and demos tracks. I took this opportunity to compile them in this mix to serve as a bridge between the EPhemeral EP and the EPoch EP which will be released this summer. I guess this is the closest I'll get to finishing an album any time soon - Tenaka | 6 4 12 | Free | View In iTunes |
