Since day one, exceptional's mission has been to focus on left field dance artists, always with the emphasis on quality rather than quantity. 'An exceptional blend' is a taster of the finest music from our exceptional world, focusing on the both chilled and dancefloor orientated sides of our personality.
Over the past few years we've deliberately hopped and skipped our way across a mix of our favourite styles and genres - from deep house and electronica to dubstep, hip hop and techno, we like to keep things more than a little unpredictable...

We're back with another killer blend of innovative and exciting electronic music. Highlights include Submotion Orchestra, who recently released their soulful and sublime "Finest Hour" LP, while Gentleman's Dub Club member Planas presents his first offering for exceptional blue with the hypnotic "Merry Go Round", and pops up on remix duties with a deep dubstep re-work for electronic collective Black Diamond Bay. An Exceptional Blend: March 2011
Exceptional Records are back with another helping of innovative and exciting electronic music. Our latest mix kicks off with a cut from Audioglider's latest EP. Remix competition winner Kultrun takes the track on an underwater journey with smooth rhythmic percussion, mysterious Morse Code bleeps and environmental sounds that bubble up from the depths.
Other highlights include: electro-indie collective Black Diamond Bay with an exclusive cut from their upcoming album, the mysterious and brooding "The Levels". Catch them at Club NME in Camden on March 25th. The enigmatic Throwing Snow on remix duties for Cloud's cosmic "Strings", following up his reworkings for the likes of Gold Panda, Greymatter, and KidKanevil. And brand new exceptional signings Submotion Orchestra, who have been rapidly building a significant reputation as one of the most intriguing ensembles to surface in the last 12 months. Their organic blend of melodious dubstep has gained support from Gilles Peterson - here they're remixed by Jack Sparrow, who sets aside his own more crunchy persona to deliver a track of great depth and beauty.
