Episode 132 – The Amazing Race | Alex and Mike are back in The Lair with a jam-packed episode! First, Mike's Next Big Announcement Which Will Surely Have No Effect On The Regularity Of The Show (get read for lots of Ink Banthas episodes in November...), then Alex's Man of The Week: a man who collects his own offspring like some people collect Vinyl LPs. A discussion about stress and decision-making, where unfortunately Mike implies that he'd always make the healthy eating choice. On the show he states he'd always choose the Fruit over the Candy, but he should have admitted in reality, he would choose a bowl of Heavy Cream over anything else. We all have our weaknesses. THEN! The topic of Mike applying to be a contestant on SURVIVOR is raised once again, but this time Alex has a better idea: The Panthers should apply to be on The Amazing Race. All one of them needs to do is learn how to drive a stick-shift, and the prize money is as good as theirs! Comments welcome! Episode 131 – The Ink Banthas Show! Episode II | Mike is on assignment down at the J'ore so Alex returns to the Bantha's Den for another round of STAR WARS chit-chat, this time with Josh Flanagan. Why do the prequels make people so angry? Is George Lucas really more machine, now, than man? Speaking of which, what's the deal with Lobot anyway? If you aren't sick of STAR WARS yet you will be by the end of this one. Comments welcome! Subscribe in iTunes | 15 5 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 130 – NOT More 50 Shades of Grey | No, it's NOT more readings of the 50 Shades of Grey trilogy, it's plain-old Alex and Mike yakking it up alone in the Lair, just like old times. We address the fact that Tony's tour-de-force is gonna be a tough one to follow up on, and it's almost like we don't even try. Hear about our recent con experiences (TCAF, The Wild Pig Show in NJ), seeing Marvel's The Avengers, getting cable installed in the house, adopting children and changing their names to something more suited to their social standing, and murdering buckets full of frogs. Episode 128 – The Ink Banthas Show! | It's The Ink Banthas Show! Mike is wrapped up in house buying and moving mayhem, so it's a Very Special All Star Wars Episode this week with Alex and guest host: Pete the Retailer. Hopefully this will become a recurring feature, as I (Mike) really enjoyed listening to the two of them talk about everybody's favorite trilogy (and, I guess, uh, the prequels too). They make some very sound points, especially in picking apart Luke's "plan" to save Han from Jabba's clutches. Have a listen! Comments welcome! Subscribe in iTunes | 23 4 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 127 – Vajazzles and Brozillians feat. Julia Wertz | Friend of the Show, Julia Wertz returns triumphantly to The Lair to discuss a variety of topics. One, a story Mike has about his bike commute which Julia rates a B-. Two, a discussion about Hollywood adaptations of our comics, which Julia rates a B+. And three, a lengthy discussion of Brozillians, Food-Tubes, Porky-Pigging, and Vajazzlin', which gets straight A++++'s from all of us. Seriously, what have The Youngs got to deal with in this day and age, where the pressure's on to have perfectly bleached, waxed, and diamond-encrusted nether-regions? We should all feel lucky to be so old! Comments welcome! This week's illustration of Inky the Domesticated Panther supplied by John Britton! Episode 126 – Cannibals and Hipsters | An experiment this week: what kind of podcast can the fellas record when one of them (me) has just awoken from an impromptu nap? The answer: a pretty OK one, I think! We give sort of a half-answer to a listener question about popular webcomics, claiming we don't spend much time on the show discussing comics, and then proceed to spend an entire hour talking about comics. In addition to webcomics, there's the upcoming MoCCA show, and Alex's Special Guest Status. We get quite in-depth discussing some recent Rob Liefeld news, breaking down both the definition of the word "Hipster", but also asking why Liefeld gets such a bad rap. But, it's not all comics, fear not! Alex tells us about the days when he used to be a morbid reader of books about serial killers, and Mike introduces us to a new term he just learned: Porky Pigging. What does it mean when you say "Oh, I was porky-pigging the other day"? Listen, and find out! Comments welcome! This week's illustration of Inky the Domesticated Panther supplied by Evin Weston! Episode 124 – Tilting at Windmills, Flying Too Close to the Sun | Alex is about to embark on a trip to Europe to attend a Spanish convention, so we discuss all the things he has planned on his journey, and how it's good he gets to impress his wife every now and then by taking her to foreign comics shows. The topics this week run the gamut: Amsterdam, Yanni, Our Insignificance In This Vast and Cold Universe. They Might Be Giants, Phish, Dexters, and psychopaths. Episode 123 – Afraid of King Kongs | "The Famous Panther", iFanboy's Josh Flanagan joins us once again in The Lair to hear all about Mike's recent trip to San Francisco (expect plenty of griping about crazy San Francisco street people, naturally) and the Game Developers Conference he attended. Plus, hear Mike's big announcment: after 13 years, he's saying goodbye to New York City and relocation to The Jersey Shore (or, The J'hore, as he hopes to re-brand it). Will this big move change the tried and true dynamic of The Ink Panthers Show? Only time will tell. Also: a recent trip to the Empire State Building, and concerns about King Kong attacks. Episode 122 – The Band Burglar | There's lots and lots of business to discuss in this episode! Should we start offering sponsorships? Would random paid-advertisments in the middle of a Tony Consiglio yarn add or detract from the show? Does the podcast qualify in the Journalism category for the Harvey Awards? Should you vote for it? How many Harveys has Alex won, and where does he keep them? What do we think about the demise of Pizza Island? Will Alex interview Tony for a Pro-T.I.P.S? And many, many, more questions. Plus! Our first ever Movie Club Corner, where we break-down and dissect the film that defined Generation X, Reality Bites. Also, the first and probably last, "Kids Say The Darndest Things" segment. Episode 121 – feat. Zack Soto | Studygroup Comics head honcho, Zack Soto, creeps into the Lair this week for a wide-ranging discussion: Friday Night Lights, Friday Night Lights, and Friday Night Lights. Plus: some mean-spirited jabs at the aging Baby-Boomer population, coupled with the question of When Will Generation X Wise Up and Start To Respect Their Elders (also coupled with the question of How Much Will The Millennial Generation End Up Hating Generation X?) Also, writing reviews on Goodreads, and one of the toughest pop-culture quizzes we've ever featured on the show. Comments welcome! Episode 120 – Halftime Spectacle | The Panthers welcome The Desert Panther, Tony Consiglio, back into The Lair for an episode packed with controversy, disagreements, and fireworks. Should Weird "Al" Yankovich perform at halftime in next year's Superbowl, as a blatant pander to all the football-hating Nerds who don't deserve it? Are any of the Panthers OK with their wives slinging their arms around our necks, like we're not the men in the marriages, but instead some kind of subdued house-cat? Doesn't it make more sense to choose being partially paralyzed over having your face mutilated like Jigsaw from the Punisher, assuming you're single? And what's up with this new craze the kids are into called "Falling Over in Public"? And can you guess which one of the Panthers wrote this episode summary? Comments welcome! Episode 119 – The Language Barrier + Angouleme Pix | Mike returns from his recent trip to the Angouleme Comics Festival in France, and gives Alex a lengthy run-down of all the goings-ons. As is his custom, Mike takes a "vacation from vegetarianism" when traveling abroad, though unfortunately for the animals, it's possible that this most recent journey could have been a game-changer. Also, Mike has to come to terms with the fact that he really enjoys visiting foreign countries, but learning a second language is quite simply beyond him at this advanced stage in life. Struggling with the language barrier has simply an unavoidable fact of life. Comments welcome! This week's illustration of Inky the Domesticated Panther supplied by Mike Schwartz! Episode 118 – Still Here | The Panthers are back in The Lair, with a lengthy discussion about drawing political satire cartoons. Plus, we run down the list of 2012's upcoming Nerd Movie Releases, and talk about what looks exciting and what doesn't. The Hunger Games? Seriously, it's a movie about kids fighting each other to the death, and people can't wait for it to arrive? And what about that Hobbit. Plus: Mike went to see Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked, and got into an altercation with a livery cab driver. And lots more!! Comments welcome! Episode 117 – Everybody Wants Something | The Holidays are behind us, so Alex and Mike creep groggily back into The Lair to catch up and discuss the things that happened over Hannukah, Christmas and New Years. Warning: the first ten minutes or so are particularly rusty, as the Panthers shake off all the egg-nog and candy-canes and struggle to get their heads back into the game. Hear about Alex's Ukelele, Mike's Cello and Superior Singing Voice, and an account of a visit to the Metropolitan Opera. Also: a listener call is answered, and Alex poses an ethical conundrum for us to ponder. Happy 2012 everyone! Comments welcome! We talk about How to Escape a Pit-Bull Attack, What Kinds of Animals at the Zoo are the Best, Which Immense Creatures trigger our Lizard Brain Fight or Flight Mechanisms, and a lengthy discussion about Cattle Breeding, which also explores the differences between a Cow, a Bull, and a Steer. Episode 114 – featuring Renee French | An explosive episode! The Ticking and H Day creator, cartoonist Renee French creeps into the Lair for a very mature conversation about some important things. Such as, how everything would be better if instead of twitter, we had I Am Legend zombies swarming the planet. Yes, the zombies are unpleasant, but at least they aren't barraging you with minutiae about mundane things all day and night. They are nice and quiet, and don't feel the need to overshare. Then some grown-up discussion about bodily fluids, and then some even more grown-up discussion about man-nipples, and then probably some even more conversation about bodily fluids again. Episode 113 – ComeOnBabyLeaveSomeChangeBehind | This episode is either super-fun or super-irritating, depending on your familiarity with all of the worst songs of the 1980's and 1990's and your patience for Mike and Alex's poor recall of pop-culture facts. First up a discussion about the recent passing of one of the last surviving Munchkins from The Wizard of Oz, and some questions about how casually famous people have extended stays at one another's houses. Then, we make our way through the Worst Songs list, and decide which picks are fair (The Macarena), and which are not ("What's Going On" by 4 Non-Blondes. C'mon! Leave 4 Non-Blondes alone!!!). Also, buried at the back of the episode is a small item where Mike mentions telling his daughter that the full name of Ariel from The Little Mermaid is "Ariel Brownwater", and her Dad is called "Triton Brownwater". It would be appreciated if all parents of pre-schoolers who listen to the show could help propagate this piece of misinformation. Comments welcome! Episode 112 – Max Headroom | Mike and Alex are alone in The Lair and they have a number of important things to discuss. First up, a revisit to Mike's failed and now-it-turns-out backfiring raw food diet. He should just stick to his regular diet of locally produced cheeses and salted breads. Then, does anyone want to be told that they are a bad driver? Is it just one of those things that everyone just assumes that they are good at? After that, Alex has a spirited defense of our nation's 39th President, Jimmy Carter. This one's got it all! Comments welcome! Episode 111 – featuring David King | Reliable cartoonist, David King, (Lemon Styles, Danny Dutch) calls into the Lair from his home in San Diego to talk "stud tails" and Ugg Boots. Mike tells everyone about his visit to the Occupy Wall Street protests, and smugly points out that he is a cyclist, thus putting himself in a higher category of human being than Alex and David. Alex discusses provocative in-your-face Fine Art, and then it's time for a Public Service Announcement from the Ink Panthers about the dangers of sitting on one piece of furniture for too long. Episode 110 – Slush Pile V | It's a very masculine musky Lair the Panthers are creeping back into after a week off. Mike is worried about turning into a straight-laced, uptight Dad, so does his best to make the conversation "raw". This means mostly talking about "grundles" and other man-things. Other Slush Pile topics include: Having the same name as an unpopular video game protagonist, impressing strangers on a subway by bragging about your regenerative powers, getting people fired by lacing their food with drugs, and a Ruling on Twitter-Spoiler-ering. Then, we slow things WAAAAAAYYY down with a dry discussion/debate about the causes of World War II and the Holocaust, but don't worry, we pick things back up again by the end when we determine whether we would or would not go back in time and brutally murder Infant Hitler. We'll discuss the rules of Lycanthropy versus the rules of Draculas. Ghost tours, costumes, and Gentlemen Frankensteins. Twilight and The Amityville Horror. It's a GHOULish good time, only slightly brought down in the middle when the topic of our nation's shameful 300-year history of slavery is discussed at length. Comments welcome! Episode 108 – Jury Duty RAW | The Slinkiest Panther, John "The Wiggly Reader" Kerschbaum pads his way back into The Panther's Lair to make his triumphant return to the show. We talk about a number of important topics, such as A Citizen's Duty to Take Jury Duty Seriously, because plainly a Trial by Jury is a better system than the Medieval Trial by Ordeal, and clearly those are the only two choices. Plus: Mike gets RAW. And a weak stomach. And, of course, our Third Annual Halloween Episode is just around the corner, so the Dads talk at length about the costumes they are making for their daughters, which is just plain adorable. Troop 142 Infomercial | It's a special episode this week, as Mike finds himself on the PRO T.I.P.S. couch, talking to Alex about his new graphic novel, Troop 142. After Mike overcomes some initial un-comfortableness about answering questions, the Panthers settle into a rhythm, and have a pretty good chat about the origins of the book, Boy Scouts, drug use, autobiography, and male friendship. Was he able to sleep there alone? Then, Alex has some complaining to do about Public Displays of Affection (PDA), and Mike talks about the most extreme example he can remember seeing. Episode 106 – Big City Values | Mike returns from his tour of Scotland to fill Alex in on all the news. First up: what is the ruling on regaling friends on all of the pleasant things that happened on a perfectly nice vacation? Yea or Nay? Also: Mike saw the movie CARS, and is outraged. Speaking of outrage, Alex is feeling it himself at New York 1's lousy coverage of the Occupy Wall Street protests, and seriously considers heading downtown himself to throw some support to those kids in their Phish t-shirts with their hacky-sacks and Idealism. One note: anyone in the San Francisco area this weekend should come see Mike at the Alternative Press Expo and get themselves a signed copy of Troop 142. He's on fire! A Beach Boy concert, vomit-bags on airplanes, celebrity-sightings, this trip had it all, and we discuss it at length. Episode 104 – featuring Gaz “Gary” Gretsky | Mike and Alex crawled into The Panther's Lair late Sunday evening, shortly after Hurricane Irene made her slow interminable crawl across New York City, and after two or three days of anxiety ridden anticipation, the Panthers were tired! But, ever reliable, they do their best to rally and get it up for a good show. And there's lots to discuss: Natural Disasters, The Small Press Expo, Book Release Parties and Spotlight Panels. Mike and Alex reveal that they will be presenting one of the awards at the Prestigious Ignatz Gala at SPX, and brainstorm some ideas for comedic content. Then! Just as the Panthers start to fall asleep, they welcome Gaz "Gary" Gretsky back into The Lair to settle some business. Astute listeners may recall last episode, where Mike confessed that he'd promised to ink a comic for his friend Gary, and had never followed through on that. Gary gets the opportunity to discuss the matter from his point of view. Plus: what is the worst Beatles song of all time, (Answer: Octopus's Garden) and would you ever eat a bug? And not some halfway palatable bug, like a grasshopper, but some really nasty thing like a house "Eyebrow". Then things devolve into an argument about Novelty song, but the Panthers should be excused. We had two natural disasters in New York City last week! Comments welcome! There's a whole lot of comics talk up at the front of the show: SPX, The Ignatzes, Alex's spotlight panel, and Mike's upcoming Book Release Party. But, once all that's finally out of the way, the Panthers talk about more regular everyday life-type things, such as strip clubs and pole dancing, and the likelihood that civilization will eventually collapse not through weapons built by man, but by microscopic germs that will give us all Super-Colds, and we'll just sneeze and look clammy until we all eventually die. Episode 98 – Nerd Squabble, featuring Josh Flanagan | The Famous Panther, Josh Flanagan of iFanBoy, creeps back into The Lair to fill us in on his recent relocation to the State of New Hampshire, land of fireworks. Then the conversation gets controversial, as we get into a heated debate about X-Men; First Class. Mike holds the perfectly reasonable position that yes, it's perfectly understandable for humans to fear and hate the mutants, but Alex and Josh strenuously disagree. Comments welcome! Episode 97 – Back in a New York Groove | After their Summer Hiatus, the Panthers are reunited back in The Lair! And they've got lots to discuss. There's a panel about Alex's book at S'Dukck (SDCC), Mike is contemplating cos-play to promote his new book. Both guys talk about their recent trips to other parts of the United States and the locals they encountered. A lively discussion about how one's placement in a wax museum reflects on one's relative fame in the world, and then it's the return of The Ink Panthers Book Nook (TM). In keeping with the theme of the episode, we're talking about Reunion by Pascal Girard, and whether or not it matters if seemingly true stories are actually definitely true. Comments welcome! Episode 96 – Season 2 Finale | The Desert Panther, Tony Consiglio, joins us to welcome Summer in our special Season 2 Finale episode. Gaming, bicycles, Cherry Danishes, and men riddled with bullets. It's quite an episode to go out on (and also somewhat NSFW). It's been a good year, but it's time for a short break. We oughta be back in The Lair sometime in the middle of July to kick off "Season 3". Comments welcome! Subscribe in iTunes | 20 6 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 95 – The Girlfriend Experience | Warning: Parental Advisory. The Panthers are back from their break, and ready to discuss the oldest profession of them all: prostituion. Mike and Alex spend an unusual amount of time discussing a comic book, Chester Brown's Payin' For It, and then go on to discuss their own encounters with the bewitching Ladies of the Night. After that, they get into a frank discussion about technological advancements in the field of lifelife sentient sexbots, and eventually predict that one day in the not-too-distant-future, someone will write a graphic novel about their own choice only to date sexy animatronic robots, and make the case that society would be a better place if we all followed suit. Episode 94 – Pizza Island Special! | This was an ambitious episode! The Panthers received a listener email, asking what kinds of comics would be good for a Dad to recommend to his teenage daughter. So we thought, why not ask the artists of Pizza Island to weigh in, as they were all teenage girls once too. Lest that sound too nice and heartwarming, fear not, Mike and Alex totally destroyed any good vibes by also forcing the Pizza Island cartoonists to gossip about one another, and give us all the inside dirt on the social hierarchy at their famous studio. Listen in, as we speak with Kate Beaton, Lisa Hanawalt, Julia Wertz, and Domitille Collardey. Comments welcome! Subscribe in iTunes | 26 5 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 93 – Slush Pile IV | It's Slush Pile time! One of those special episodes where Mike & Alex cover a potpourri of different items, such as: Mike is witness to a mugging; Alex makes a bold stand against Survivor; Shouldn't Paul McCartney call it a day already?; Why do guys ball-bust each other, and do women do the same thing; how should you remove a kayak from a river after you've capsized; and more!! Episode 92 – featuring Jamie Tanner | Aviary creator and inventor of Kickstarter, Jamie Tanner, creeps into the Lair this week for a sitdown discussion about many important topics: Why be a cartoonist when you can be in a band? What is the right amount of time to pass before you can start getting mad at a Kickstarter project where you haven't received your rewards yet? Shouldn't Jamie call his art studio The Draweriary? Episode 90 – featuring Noah Van Sciver | Blammo creator, Noah Van Sciver, calls into the Panther's Lair from an undisclosed location out of the streets of Denver, Colorado, providing a heightened sense of tension for the entire episode, as we worry he may be struck by a speeding car at any moment. Speaking of cars, Mike's just been to the International Car Show, and marveled at the new line of 2012 Fords and Chevys. Also, we respond to a listener question about whether we have pop-culture rules for our significant others. For example, could any of us really be with a lady who doesn't like Peter Jackson's Lord of The Rings? Is that a deal-breaker? Comments welcome!
