Podcast Script: (Click HERE to listen) _____________________________________________ Hello, and welcome to the... Hotch Potch English ~ Mega Minute Podcast No.44! 'shipping' OR 'cargo'?! Today's Quote "Why is it that when you transport something by car, it's called shipment but when you transport something by ship it's called cargo?" (Anonymous) Today's Facts Men honk more than women, and men and women honk more at women than at men. Drivers in convertibles with the tops down are less likely to honk than those with the top up. Drivers honk faster at cars whose drivers are on cell phones. And drivers are more likely to honk at people from another state or country than their own. Drivers honk less on weekends. Today's Joke The probability of being involved in a traffic accident is directly proportional to time spent on the road. Driving fast decreases one's exposure. One third of traffic accidents are caused by drunk drivers; two thirds are caused by non-drunk drivers. Therefore, the safest way to drive is drunk and VERY fast. That's all for today! Eileen: "No, we're not passing through, for once, we're hopefully going to stay in Paris for an extended time, maybe up to two years, maybe beyond, and so we'll see how it goes. OK, 'maybe beyond'! Rory, what do you think of that? Rory: "Yes, I think, I like the sound of it, it's good. I mean, two years would certainly be our horizon at the moment, and if it goes beyond that we'll be very happy." Have you got a favourite place in Paris, Rory? Rory: "I like the Latin Quarter. I must say, I like the atmosphere there. But there are many other quarters as well that have their own special character. And you know that Paris is rather well known for its Irish pubs - there's quite a lot of them! Do you think you'll be going there? Rory: "I might go to one or two, but not too many! I came here to enjoy the French atmosphere. But it'll be nice to go to an Irish pub from time to time." OK, good talking to you two. Have a good time in Paris!
