The most fun you could have in this section of the cross-time continuum

From ghost stories to cowboys on Mars and Laser-fighting superheroes, the Thrilling Adventure Hour is a podcast which replays segments from a weekly theatrical play held at the legendary Largo theatre in California. Drawing in famous voices like Nathan Fillion, Neil Patrick Harris and Padget Brewster, the show is hilarious from start to finish. While celebrities pop in to offer cameos appearances, the core cast are made up of familiar voiceover artists such as John DiMaggio and Mark Gagliardi; and comedians like Tom Lenk, Chris Hardwick and Paul F. Tompkins. Each week the podcast releases a new twenty-ish-minute story, recorded live at the theatre but clearly transferred to podcast. It doesn't sound muted or off-key - this is crystal-clear. The segments released so far include Beyond Belief - the strongest recurring feature - featuring Brewster and Tompkins as ghost-hunting members of the high-society; Sparks Nevada, a western set on Mars; Captain Lazerbeam, and his adventures fighting supervillain crime; and Jefferson Reid, fighting against the menance of the Nazis. Although the tone is the same for every performance and the casts remain the same, the performers are so talented with their line readings that each segment feels distinct and fully-realised. There are a few segments which don't seem to work so well - the 'Tales from the Black Lagoon' series doesn't hold the attention too much. But for the most part, Ben Blacker and Ben Acker have written a brilliant show... and you can download it for free! What a wonderful world we live in.

An interesting nod to 1940's radio plays

Featuring an all-star cast including some of the best comedians the USA has to offer, these short radio plays are an enjoyable experience for anyone who appreciates the works of all the individual players that take part. Worthy of mention is Paul F Tompkins who appears alongside Paget Brewster in the 'beyond belief' segment. I would disagree with the reviewer who said that there was a racist tone in one of these segments. Having listened to them I found no such element to be present, but I am not easily offended and not quick to throw the 'racism' tag at anything unless it has a direct reference or an abusive tone towards a specific race! Back to topic, I would happily recommend this to people who like the earwolf and nerdist podcasts respectively. Enjoy.

Oh Dear

This podcasts production is highly polished, but thats the only good thing about it. The storys are written in the style of a 9 year old kid high on red bull. No plot just lots of corny, cheesy pap; finished off with some very poor songs. Oh and one of the episodes that I tried; was I felt more than a litte racist.
