Tame your tiger (http://www.rciventures.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/jim-lawless-presents-199x300.jpg)Jim Lawless talks about the importance of taking bold action, one of the Ten Rules of Taming Tigers (http://www.tamingtigers.com/site/home.cfm), his motivational book and business. Lawless personally proved his no-nonsense approach to success by breaking some amazing sporting records including the British No Limit Diving discipline (http://www.deeperblue.com/newsfull.php/2322), plummeting to 101 metres below the surface, and becoming a professional jockey in less than a year - with no prior experience in the saddle. It was his radical perspective on corporate change that persuaded the powers that be at the Resort Development Organisation to hire him as their keynote speaker for the RDO2 Conference (http://www.rdoconference.org/rdo2-news/key-note-speaker-jim-lawless-confirmed/) at the Don Carlos Resort & Spa in Marbella, Spain, later this year. Getting to know you (http://www.rciventures.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/lucy-whittington.png)Knowing your target market is more critical than ever to your business success, says Lucy Whittington, one of the UK's leading marketers in the travel and tourism sector. Whittington co-authored the highly-praised Hotel Success Handbook, and on Today's Timeshare she shares some secrets on how to attract more owners to your shared ownership resort. The book has been praised by a huge number of hospitality executives including former British Hospitality Association chief executive Bob Cotton, who addressed delegates at last year's RDO Conference. A world of communication (http://www.rciventures.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/sara-macedo.jpg)Finally, we discover why understanding the complexities of cross-cultural communication is pivotal to your success. Day of the Directive | February 23, 2011 is the date when all member states were obliged to implement The EU Shared Ownership Directive. Though the UK has upheld legislation providing buyers of timeshare and fractionals with a mandatory 14-day cooling off period, only now has that regulation been applicable across Europe. Much media attention has been focused on the harmonisation imposed by the Directive, through interviews on radio and TV with such high-profile industry executives including RCI's managing director for EMEAI, Sean Lowe, on Radio 4, and the Resort Development Organisation's Richard McIntosh (Radio 5 Live), Paul Gardner-Bougaard (BBC Breakfast) and Sue McNicol (BBC Radio Somerset). On Today's Timeshare and Fractional Focus we talk with another famous face in shared ownership circles, legal eagle Chris Bannister. Bannister is a partner at Gregory Rowcliffe Milners (http://www.grm.co.uk) in London. He talks to us about this 'momentous day' for the industry as we investigate what the Directive means for owners, developers, and holiday clubs. She is a founding board member of Women in the Industry (http://www.womenintheindustry.org/) (WIN) and serves as the non-profit organization's Vice President of Communications. On Today's Timeshare we discuss the role of women in the shared ownership industry and the success of WIN since it was founded about three years ago. WIN advocates, educates and connects women in the holiday industry. The primary purpose of Women in the Industry is to foster the growth of women in the shared ownership industry by recognizing and connecting women, furthering their skill sets through education and providing a forum to unite and leverage best practices by providing life, work and balance support. Though based in the US, the organisation welcomes members from across the world and hosts regular conferences in America to discuss industry developments from a woman's perspective and also to nurture charitable ventures. In 2011, WIN will be focusing on several good causes including a special reading initiative by Christel House, the shared ownership industry's charity of choice. It's also a big year for the organisation operationally as it fosters new ties with ARDA - the American Resort Development Association. Episode 10: Meet The Crusader | On this episode of Today's Timeshare we meet author, former timeshare salesperson and consumer consultant Lisa Ann Schreier. Schreier writes extensively about the subject of timeshare, lectures at a range of universities across America about the industry, and provides purchasers with the chance to discuss the full array of timeshare products available so they can make an informed choice. Schreier wrote Timeshare Vacations For Dummies to demystify the holiday ownership concept to a huge audience of prospective consumers across the US. Her book Timeshare Management is on the curriculum at several academic institutions and she tells Today's Timeshare of the 2011 launch of Timeshare by Numbers, a purchaser's guide in eBook format. Schreier's websites include Timeshare Insights (http://www.timeshareinsights.com/), featuring her books and live appearances, and The Timeshare Crusader (http://thetimesharecrusader.blogspot.com/). Having seen life on both sides of the fence, Schreier is keen to work with developers to help them understand the needs of consumers in more depth. She talks about how fresh thinking about the way timeshare is sold could transform and reenergise the industry. Schreier told Today's Timeshare how the creation of a network of independent agents selling the full range of timeshare products available would fit perfectly with the way consumer goods are sold at large - with a fully-trained consultant there to advise and guide the purchaser to make the right buying decision. Today’s Timeshare: Episode 9 | Now the customer’s in charge… We're joined for a second time by Jason Tremblay, co-founder and chief executive officer of SellMyTimeshareNow.com (http://www.sellmytimesharenow.com/), for a special edition of the show where we talk about the stories making headlines across the timeshare industry. Tremblay introduces a new licensed brokerage system making it easy for owners to sell their timeshare. Now those wanting to exit from their timeshare ownership can either handle the sale themselves, or appoint an independent broker to manage the sale on their behalf. We talk about Worldwide Timeshare Hypermarket (http://www.timeshare-hypermarket.com/)'s new maintenance fee protection programme for timeshare owners, and RCI's existing Exchange and Points Protection products which provide enhanced cancellation rights on confirmed bookings. It all adds up to a carefree package designed to bring an additional layer of confidence to the timeshare owner when making holiday plans. We move on to the subject of surveys - with one showing a huge level of satisfaction in the timeshare product among US owners, the other looking to understand the industry better and donating to one of timeshare's favourite charities in return for your help. Finally we look at the potential for developers working with a resales company. It's all here at Today's Timeshare! We hope you're enjoying Today's Timeshare.
