Smashcast 001 : Sinden & Chrissy Murderbot | For our first ever Smashcast, we've gotten exclusive mixes from Kiss FM's Sinden and Chrissy Murderbot, straight from Chicago. Mixes from both sides are all over the board Sinden's Biography Straddling a bass lead club sound that also encompasses global beats, Sinden is renowned for hisgenre-blending DJ sets, cracklin’ hot radio show, his banging remixes and possibly most importantly, for being the Sinden in hotly tipped ‘The Count & Sinden’ and, alongside Herve, founding member of the ‘Machines Don’t Care’ collective. His DJ career sees him in residence at his own ‘Get Familiar’ night at London’s Fabric and throwing Count & Sinden’s Mega Warehouse parties, as well as jet-setting around the world turning clubs on their heads with his eclectic new sound. He’s also known for his lauded show groundbreaking UK radio station Kiss FM. It was the first show of its kind to host an eclectic selection of music that includes Funk Carioca, Baltimore Club, Kuduro, Juke House, Southern Hip Hop, Dancehall, House/Electro and much much more. Having the radio show keeps Sinden one step ahead of the game when it comes to finding new music, and he brings this taste-making approach to his productions. Sinden began making his own music around the time he forged a friendship with Dave “Switch” Taylor and was taken under his wing to learn the production game. Together they began to create progressive hip-hop, dancehall beats and other unclassifiable rhythms. Testing the water with his remixes of other artists has led to an impressive, diverse reel which includes mixes of Basement Jaxx, Bjork, Mujava, Armand van Helden , Robbie Williams, Mark Ronson to name a few. His production technique has further evolved in his collaboration with Joshua Harvey, aka The Count (aka Herve), on their project The Count & Sinden. Their single ‘Beeper’ was a crossover club smash which built on the success of early release ‘Tambourzouda’. Subsequent singles Hardcore Girls and Mega have been topped charts and been supported by a who’s who of top international DJs and producers. Sinden is currently hunkered down in the studio working on The Count & Sinden album, due for release on Domino Records in 2010. He got started in electronic music pretty early in age and began buying rave, jungle, and house 12"s in the early 1990s, and played his first DJ gig in 1995, at the tender age of 13! Since then, he's played at over 400 events in 15 countries, alongside electronic music legends like Juan Atkins, 4Hero, Plaid, The Bug, Phil Hartnoll (Orbital), Ghislain Poirier, Aux88, Mark 1, Mungo's Hi-Fi, DJ SS, Bong-Ra, Legowelt, Ssion, Remarc, Bizzy B, Nookie, Kid606, Pinch, R.A.W, Michael Foreshaw, Parasite, Enduser, 0=0, and more. As a producer, Chrissy first got attention through a lot of old-school-influenced neo-jungle tunes. After successful jungle releases on Mashit, Clash, and some other labels, as well as a fair chunk of press exposure from XLR8R, Grooves, BBC Radio 1, Pitchfork Media, and loads of others. I started my own label, Dead Homies, as an outlet for catchy, dancefloor-worthy, well-produced, forward-thinking jungle and dubstep. After a year or two of making jungle records, Chrissy started taking the focus off of jungle, looking to broaden his discography and ultimately his audience. He set up a second label, Sleazetone Records, to put out sleaze pop, hi-NRG, bassline, tech house, juke / ghettotech, rave revival type stuff.
