Podcast Description
Winter Jargon play alternative rock with hints of grunge, indie, gypsy, punk-cabaret, dark-cabaret and acoustic musical styles... "They're just plain weird..." - Alan Robson, Metro Radio "What You Are" is really a killer song, with its thunder-rolling chorus, tension and explosive guitar solo. Doctor Doctor | 'Doctor, Doctor' was heavily inspired by the music of the Dresden Dolls who belong to the punk - cabaret genre. When I wrote 'Doctor Doctor' I had only recently discovered the Dresden Dolls and was going through a solid three month listening spree of their music - exclusively! The theatrical, melodramatic nature of their music struck a chord with me. (no pun intended) Essentially, 'Doctor, Doctor' was about a string of bad experiences I was having at the time with a number of fairly rude and callus doctors. It had a pretty negative effect on me and as a result, I refused to see doctors for quite a number of years afterwards. However, the song itself is intended to be at least slightly humorous and extremely embellished beyond anything autobiographical. This is the only version of the song that exists online right now. I hope to record it properly at some point. | 1 2 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

What You Are | An acoustic version of the song which always seemed to be the most popular among anyone who ever saw Winter Jargon play live as a three piece. This is the song in it's stripped back form, minus all the guitar solo's at the end. 'What you are' is most likely the reason people would often liken Winter Jargon's sound to band, Muse (or early Muse at least). It is a song about people who are full of themselves. The Apple | "The apple" is quite a new song and is one of the only songs I've written in a waltz-style 3/4 time. It is a song about how unavoidable it is to develop your parent's traits and personality flaws and become just like them in later life, possibly without even being able to recognise as much. | 1 2 12 | Free | View In iTunes |

At The Bridge | "At the bridge" was a track which was supposed to feature on an album Winter Jargon set out to record in 2008 entitled "The Aviary". Unfortunately the sessions were never finished. This is probably my favourite track from this gig which is funny because I wasn't at all sure it would work acoustically at all. Well, I say "acoustic" but what I really mean is that I wasn't sure it would work as a solo piece. The acoustic guitar is heavy effected with line 6 delay, so it's not really what you could call 'pure acoustic'. | 1 2 12 | Free | View In iTunes |
