Podcast Description

Yu-Gi-Oh. You either know it as a children's card game, or a children's anime show. But oddly enough, there are people out there who don't know what Yu-Gi-Oh is - or rather, they do know what it is, and that's why they go out of their way to avoid it. But Yu-Gi-Oh: The Abridged Series is different. Here at the Abridged Series website, we take the very concept of Yu-Gi-Oh, and we rip out its guts, replacing them with a bunch of inappropriate, loosely connected pop culture references. Some say it's funny. Others disagree. We rip their guts out too. Our main goal is to reduce the series to a fraction of its actual length, making it more accessible to Joe Public. After all, does Joe Public want to watch hours upon hours of card games in the vain hope of catching the slightest shred of plot? And if so, then why? What is Joe's problem? Perhaps he should have taken that job at the restaurant when his wife told him to. Then maybe he wouldn't be divorced with overdue child support payments. That's why we do what we do. So that Joe's kids will know a better future. We're saving lives, people. Abridged style.

Blooming Brilliant

Attention duelists! My hair says this series has had me literally laying down, clutching my sides with laughter and trying to find some breath so I don't die from it all. I'm not sure why it was so worried, hair is already dead and doesn't need to breath. In any case, it's fantastic! It takes a couple episodes for LK to get the voices down but the humour is there right from the start. Though it keeps some of the key points from the original Yu-Gi-Oh series such as Duelist Kingdom, Battle City and there being spirits around much of it is different. The characters are different whilst retaining elements of their original 4Kids selves, for example both versions of Yugi are far more heartless than the original, but you still like them and sympathise with them. Poor blokes, having to put up with nitwits like Tristin and Joey. It brings in pop culture and obscure references alike with a good dose of wise crack commentary and all in all it is no surprise that this series spawned an entire genre that became an internet phenomenon. And once you'll watch it you'll understand why. In America.

Yu gi oh abridged is not short on comedy

If you like your comedy to bombard you with jokes then this is the podcast for you. If you like your comedy to contain subtle and not so subtle references to other great comedies, then again you have found your comedy. If you like comedies where characters refer to their hair in the third person and marry the ocean? You have weird tastes, but amazingly this is the comedy for you. Basically what i'm saying is that this podcast covers all fields of comedy. with internet memes thrown in, the base material lends itself to the podcast well, and the voice work is very well done.

LittleKuriboh = EPIC WIN!!!

Have to say this is one of the funnest shows I have ever watched! Glad to see its back on iTunes. Hope you keep making more!
