Description
In a fictional future, human beings have been forced underground and thrive in isolated subterranean civilizations. These "villages" have no contact with the surface world or with each other. Since frequent earthquakes damage infrastructure, the villages must constantly expand deeper into the earth; individuals designated to this task are known as "diggers." Fourteen-year-old orphaned Simon is respected by his village elders as the best of the diggers, but is ostracized by his peers. One day he discovers a special drill key deep in the ground, and is recruited by an eccentric fellow orphan named Kamina into the "Gurren Brigade."

Fun and quirky, all youd expect from an anime
Im a casual anime fan, used to watch alot when a teenager. Seeing a selection of anime on itunes has rekindled my interest. I really enjoyed Gurren Lagann, it's fun, and held my interest and made me laugh a few times. It's not amazing ground breaking Anime, but it holds it's own and entertains. The action is well done and not overly confusing, the characters are likable and not too annoying, the scenario is interesting and not overly complex. The length of each episode makes for a nice quick entertaining half hour so if you want something to enjoy on train or waiting room, check out Gurren Lagann.
Great series
Yeah it's expensive but it's an excellent series, word of advice though watch every episode in order (I know it sounds stupid) otherwise the whole story will not make sense.
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
This is mostly about the fact that the show is dubbed, which I'm all for btw, as all I'd do is tell you to watch the show. I mean I even rated it 5 stars and everything! Incase some people haven't noticed this is for the dubbed version of the show, the dub is very good and keeps the feel of the original as well as translating everything very well; so regardless of this being the first or second time of watching the series you shouldn't think the dub is out of place. Very good work by whichever company did the dubbing. This series is all about manly spirit; trust me, after watching this you'll be screaming phrases and pointing to the skys like Kamina and Simon! Watch now!
