Album Review
Her first release since splitting the Wreckers, the Everything Comes and Goes EP finds Michelle Branch remaining in modern country mode, alternating between a purer, twangier variation (the cracking opener “Ready to Let You Go”) and a poppier crossover style that sounds like a mature spin on Taylor Swift (“Sooner or Later,” “I Want Tears”). Branch’s time in the country has turned her into a sturdy craftsman of both song and sound, and this EP is as appealing as anything the Wreckers released.

Although she rose to fame during the teen pop era, Michelle Branch — who was 17 years old when her debut album, The Spirit Room, began its double-platinum run in 2001 — modeled her own songs after iconic alt-rock females like Lisa Loeb and Melissa Etheridge.
